Well, since we got the album title already, what can we expect in September? Hopefully the full tracklisting. :kii:

It's a pretty dumb album title. If she goes back to her The Fame and The Fame Monster roots, I'll be content. If not, this will probably be the second album of hers that I don't buy.

ArtPop? Oh god, please let me like the music more than the title. I can't wait to here why she named it that. "My music is art, it's a personal creation I give birth too"
I wonder if the first single will pay homage to Like a Virgin or Holiday? I'm kinda hoping it's Frozen :)

I'm kinda hoping it's Frozen :) #Shade Since she "paid homage" to "Lucky Star", "Express Yourself" on "Vogue" on the last album, I hope she'll have her Erotica era next with darker, sexual, emotional songs and finally release that adults only picture book that she has been planning to release.

No. She needs to wait for Erotica for album 4. If she did Erotica this time she would totally kill off her radio career.

That can't be the album title. Someone needs to intervene. It would be great if people compared the music to a good blend of art and pop, but to come right out and say "this is ARTPOP!" sounds pretentious and naive. It's shallow. She's not going to broaden mainstream appeal by reinforcing what the mainstream doesn't like about her.

Gaga has always taken herself seriously, yet moment after moment, people are shocked and--here's the kicker--almost offended that she takes herself and her music seriously. Pop music doesn't mean it needs to be the playful, empty, Katy Perry-variety dance/bubblegum music. There's room for someone working to achieve something deeper, and I've always found her ambition toward that admirable, not annoying. But to each their own.

I would appreciate that sentiment 100%...if GaGa wasn't recording music that could easily be on a Britney Spears of Ke$ha record, but that's exactly what she's doing so I don't really see the depth and sophistication that she and her fans claim to hear and see. Take note that there is nothing wrong with her music (at least pre-BTW) and that simply recording great pop music and nothing else isn't anything to be ashamed of at all.

Lol I know. I have never seen people so offended by someone taking their music seriously. We have 300 million pop stars doing fluffy cutesy pop music about partying with Dr. Luke. Why does one not doing that make people so angry? Why is her saying I take my pop music seriously and I love pop music as a genre so infuriating? I love pop music as a genre too so I guess that is why Gaga and I click.

I thought everybody's problem was that on Born This Way she wasn't recording music that could be on a Britney/Ke$ha album anymore? Honestly, it's so difficult to keep up with everybody's different problems with Gaga now. She's reached the point like Mariah and Madonna where she's got so many fans and evolved so much that she'll never please everybody, or even more than half of everybody. ... QWEEN. :'(

Yeah I am confused which songs on BTW would have fit on Kesha/Britney cds. I can think of about 2 maybe 3 out of the 18 or whatever tracks we got and even then they would have had different production.

To me, it's not that she takes her music seriously that bothers me, it's how she takes it TOO seriously. "Born This Way" was a smash hit pop song that told you to be yourself, not the #1 gay anthem of all time. "The Edge of Glory" was a nice pop hit that used influences of the 80s, not a song that "pays homeage" to the 80s. Believe, the 80s wouldn't want that.

The only problem I had with GaGa after BTW was released was that the album was a bit garbage to me. After the album failed to become "the album of our century" or whatever she humbled a bit. She was ranting about her music being terrific and artistic and deep way before BTW was ever released and at the time a good chunk of her songs would have easily fit on Circus. One of them even did as a bonus track. An amazing bonus track at that! Which is my point: simply recording great pop music that isn't anything deep at all isn't anything to be ashamed of. But I am anticipating this record. I love a few of her songs a lot and she's incredibly talented.

I do agree that during BTW she went a little too far at times and it dragged down an otherwise excellent era. I do tend to just focus on the music more than analyzing what artists say though so I think that is why she annoyed me less than others. I went like, two years without reading or hearing any Gaga interviews at all and just listened to the cd, for example. I don't even really remember some of the quotes you are talking about. However, this era already seems better-she is making fun of herself a lot, smiling, laughing, being bubbly, the album title seems more tongue-in-cheek than anything else and we know the music is lighter. I am excited even though Pulse has deemed the album title an unforgivable sin

Because it doesn't sound like you do. I'm not sure she ever described "Born This Way" as the number one gay anthem of all time either, but I wouldn't have a problem if that's what she set out to create. There's nothing wrong with ambition and even with all "Born This Way"'s problems I still admire her for what she was trying to do. I had no problems with GaGa pre-'Bad Romance'. The only problem I had with GaGa after that was the whole schtick was getting to be a bit ridiculous at that point. The only problem I had with GaGa after BTW was released was that the album was a bit garbage to me. After the album failed to become "the album of our century" or whatever she humbled a bit. But I am anticipating this record. I love a few of her songs a lot and she's incredibly talented. Ok. Artists making 'greatest album of the year/decade/century' statements has never bothered me. I remember the Killers saying Sam's Town was going to be the best record in twenty years or something similar. It wasn't, but what bothered me was that it wasn't a great album, not that they set out to make something incredible and believed in it. I know those kinds of statements are always mocked on Pulse and I suppose I can see why it would bother people, but it's not an issue for me personally. I suppose for the same reasons talking ('ranting') about her songs being terrific and artistic doesn't bother me either. Recording great pop music that isn't anything deep isn't anything to be ashamed of, obviously. Some of the greatest songs of all time have no meaning and I think it's important to have music that has no meaning and isn't deep and artistic and ranty. But I also think it's important to have a pop star like Lady Gaga who is trying to have meaning and deepness, even if she often fails. Maybe that's why I've never understood the Britney and Gaga comparisons - both are quite obviously aiming for completely different things ( neither one of which is intrinsically better than the other), and even if their music ends up not exactly being chalk and cheese I still think that's something great to have. In an age where we have Usher's last 15-20 singles sounding identical and, well, David Guetta, it's nice that artists are at least aiming for completely different points, even if only ideologically. That was a rant.

What songs has GaGa recorded that could have been done by Ke$ha, Britney, etc? Other than most of The Fame and Telephone, GaGa has pretty much created her own style of pop music by fusing together so many influences. Not that she's 100% original or in a field of her own but when it comes to mainstream pop, when you hear a GaGa song, you know immediately that it's not any of the other pop stars. It's either an unknown newcomer or GaGa.

It's either an unknown newcomer or GaGa. Exactly, most of The Fame and 'Telephone'. That's half of her material. I'm not saying she's unoriginal or anything of the sort though. I'm just agreeing with others who have said she takes some of her music too seriously. Which does annoy me a little bit because I do personally find quite a bit of it to be similar to other artist's repretoire, but like Billy said the fact that she is striving to make a difference and to have depth is commendable (which, although I only loved 'SheiΓe' and TEOG, BTW definitely showed, like you said Max) and nobody should really be putting her down because of that. As an artist, she should be striving for greatness. I disagree that she has "created her own style of music" though, it's phrases like that that probably wind up annoying people. Not that it annoys me but I digress.

I shouldn't her "her own style" as much as her own brand. With GaGa, there's always more than just the music and she never leaves it at just that. There's the whole imagery surrounding each move she makes. I think that's huge.

I thought Born This Way was a masterful balance of what Gaga has been aiming to do. Great music speaks for itself, which is why calling an album "ARTPOP" is a mistake. It reminds me of this one young man who went on and on about how his style was "fusion" and he hyped it up like it was so brilliant and innovative, but it was really rather quite bland. Show, don't tell. Cardinal rule of writing.

I could list a bunch of artists who creating freaking fantastic pop music with a deeper level of emotion and meaning than GaGa, and do show instead of tell. BUT they aren't having the mainstream success of GaGa and I find it wonderful that GaGa strives to put meaning into her work instead of chasing trends to stay on top of radio.

The hair in the pink outfit is very M, truth or dare era when she went to the premiere with Warren Beaty. I think Gaga looks great, I like this look on her, the weird outfits are kinda getting boring now.
And before some girls their panties all twisted, I know Madonna didn't invent the look. I am just comparing and throwing no shade.
