I don't believe that for a second. From the article: “She doesn’t take direction anymore,” a source told me. When Troy spoke at my college in 2009 he specifically said she's the type of artist that doesn't take direction, so this isn't a new thing at all. Well if The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard are reporting, there must be some credence to it. Regardless, I was curious that she would make this type of move now. I believe Ga, like Madonna, has her own creative vision and will be just fine. Once BB reported it, I believed it. Don't think it'll have much of an impact on her, though. He never had any say in the first place.

^ that's not a bad idea tho. No it's not, it's actually pretty smart of them. I really just don't understand the black leggings on the Middle Eastern version considering it's a statue lol.

Walmart actually has 2 exclusive Applause remixes that are on the Japanese version of ARTPOP. I'm not going to bother though, since all of their CDs are censored.

I never checked them out, but my download (which was from a Chinese link) had a bunch of Applause remixes attached to it. I hope that's ok to post that.

I guess they do take that stuff pretty seriously though.

What do you guys think the chances are that Swine is going to be the highlight and climax of her ARTPOP tour?
It's not my ultimate favorite, but it just feels like it's going to be pivotal, in the same vein that Madonna's "Gang Bang" was a highlight and pivotal moment of the MDNA tour.

Which vocals are on the album version for 'Aura'; the crazy vocals from the leaked version or that toned down shit from Machete Kills lyric video?

I guess they do take that stuff pretty seriously though. Covers are edited all the time for the Middle Eastern countries. A bunch of Kylie, Mariah, Katy, Shakira, Nirvana, and Jennifer Lopez ones (that Shakira one is such a hot mess and they didn't even put in any effort to do the JLo one, poor thing) atrl.net/forums/showthread.php?p=11679288#11679288All of Mariah's mariahcensored.ytmnd.com/No it's not, it's actually pretty smart of them. I remember seeing a video of some strippers in Iran and their faces were covered with a burqa, but they were totally naked except for heels. :o

This review is pretty much spot on. I agree that she's basically all about the fans now and is not taking steps forward. Then again it was just all assumption that she had a million ideas in her.

I hope most reviewers will listen to this album several times before reviewing. They probably won't but I really don't feel this album can be judged on one playthrough. A lot of stuff isn't going to click instantly, but that doesn't mean they're bad. This album has already grown on me a ton from the first listen.

I'm really starting to love the 1,2,3 punch of Donatella, Fashion, and MJH. It's the second great 1,2,3 punch on the album, after Venus, G.U.Y., and Sexxx Dreams. She really knew what she was doing with the tracklisting order this album, and a lot of songs are actually better if listened to in the order of the album.

After two listens: 1. TFM =2. BTW =2. ARTPOP 4. TF
1. Aura - 8/10 The chorus is the best thing on the entire album, and got used to the verses in September. 2. Venus - 8/10 It's not nearly as bad as some people want to believe. 3. G.U.Y - 10/10 The snippet was a big surprise for me and the full song lived up to my expectations. The intro is cool. 4. Sexxx Dreams - 10/10 My fave song from the iTunes festival and the album version is as great as the live one. 5. Jewels n' Drugs - 7/10 I thought I'll be like: "Meh, I don't use", but it's actually decent. 6. Manicure - 9/10 Didn't understand its appeal after the live version, but the beat + the content got me. 7. Do What U Want - 10/10 The best song on the album. Wise choice, hope it'll be a big hit. 8. ARTPOP - 8/10 Something just isn't right for me with the final version, it almost completely lost its vibe. Still a good song I guess. 9. Swine - 10/10 Another song I didn't use after the festival, but hearing the studio version it clicked with me instantly. Those drops. :'( That "Swiiiiiiiiiiiine"-belt. The 'hiccups'. I'm done. I'll play the scheiße out of it. 10. Donatella - 9/10 It's still so new to me, but I think I like it. Nothing amazing though. 11. Fashion! - 9/10 I was waiting for something - sic - more interesting. That's always a problem with a few of her album tracks imo. 12. Mary Jane Holland - 9/10 "Russian hookers and cheeeeap gin..." Too many YAAAAAAS'! 13. Dope - 8/10 I fucking want the live version back. 14. Gypsy - 10/10 The TEOG of the album, definitely single material. Hope they won't mess it up. 15. Applause - 10/10 Still a ten out of ten for me after almost three months. This song means so much for me.
Total: 9/10

This album sounds amazing on shrooms. That doesn't surprise me in the least. I'll stick to the MJ with this one. Otherwise, based on some of the music here, I might have a full blown panic attack.

After Born This Way, which I rly like, I was waiting a lot more of Artpop. The songs I like the most are Applause, DWYW and Manicure. But I was waiting great ballads, just like You And I or Speechless, but I actully dont like none of the ballads in Artpop. The album is too damn overproduced, I thought I would see something more... raw. I am frustrated and this is her worst album.

And meanwhile, Zack and Miri Make a Porno is in their $5 DVD bin. To this day I don't understand their stance on selling only censored music when they sell all of those R-rated movies on DVD and Blu-ray.

So I just listened to it. It's good but it's to as instant for me as "Born This Way" was on first listen, but of course that doesn't mean I won't like it better later on.

I secretly, maybe a little, be starting to actually like Dope. I like the synths in the background, and that she sings it like the Phantom of the Opera.
Oh, and I think the one obvious thing that everyone can agree on from this album is Zeddga >>>>>>

OK...so I listened.
It's my favorite Gaga album, I think. The one drawback is that it's allll dance until track 13. The tracks are unique and different from each other but I found myself wanting a tempo change at some points. Other thoughts below
Highlights first run through are Venus, G.U.Y, Swine and Gypsy. I still prefer the Aura demo. Applause is perfect as the album-closer. I like Dope a lot, don't get the hate. I think Fashion! is my least favorite. Gaga can write hooks/choruses better than anyone. The verses on MANiCURE and MJH are sublime. Swine and Aura will SLAY live.

Entertainment Weekly review: www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20752562,00.html What's a trailblazer to do when her path becomes the road most traveled? Back in 2008, The Fame introduced us to Lady Gaga as a wickedly funny pop parodist and crack songwriter with a fresh take on celebrity — one that involved brazen publicity stunts, surreal costumes, and daily look-changing (plus the occasional beef blouse).
Five years later, outrageous is the new ordinary and instant reinvention is the status quo. (What Madonna was to Gaga, Gaga is to Miley, or at least to Miley's half-drunk teddy bears.) Which lately seems like a burden for Gaga herself, who's been flitting through disposable personae — there are no fewer than nine in the video for ARTPOP's lead single, ''Applause'' — without finding any that stick. The irony of her latest album is that while Gaga is shape-shifting faster than ever, her music hasn't evolved much.
With their Hollywood-gothic imagery and rousing beats, most of the songs here would fit right in on The Fame or Born This Way. They hit enjoyable but well-worn sonic marks, from the synth-swaddled choruses of ''Aura'' and ''Sexxx Dreams'' to the barroom ivory-tickling of ''Gypsy.'' And they deal in tropes and metaphors that have become standbys in Gaga's canon: Love is a drug (''Dope''), artifice is truth (''Fashion!''), and fame is a religion in which shamelessness is next to godliness (''Applause''). Retro may be white-hot right now (see: Miley, Bruno, Daft Punk, et al.), but ARTPOP doesn't reach back far enough. In music, as in fashion, there's a critical gap between vintage and last season.
Familiarity isn't necessarily bad, though. As always, Gaga is a whiz at strong melodic lines, like the swooping hook on ''Gypsy.'' She's a clever comic who's delightfully willing to be the butt of her own jokes. (''I know that Mom and Dad think I'm a mess/But it's all right because I am rich as piss,'' she cracks on the pot ode ''Mary Jane Holland.'') As pop, the album is a well-executed and entertaining tour of Gaga's tried-and-true tricks. But as art, it falls short when it comes to one basic function: making an impression. B
Best Tracks: ''Dope'' ''Gypsy''

EW has been obnoxiously down on Gaga since "Applause" came out with constant comparisons to Katy Perry. They gave it a good grade but spent most of the review knocking the album.

Not surprised will all the "B" reviews, to be honest. I love Gaga but I have to say, after many listens, it is nowhere near as good as BTW (IMO). I still like it a lot but I don't expect it to get much better reviews than BTW. That being said, I think it might be more of a commercial success than BTW.
