300k sounds too low imo. I still think she'll manage to break 400k.

Ohhhh F**K! Gaga is so HOT on Jewels and Drugs!!! I am in LoVE! I love this track too. I don't get the hate over it. Yeah, it's dumb, but it's hot. However, I really liked the DJ White Shadow breakdown before Twista's verse on the iTunes Festival that isn't there anymore.

I'm going with 420k first week. Mary Jane Holland would be so proud. :'(

So that new verse of DWYW she performed on Graham Norton was from those fake Applause lyrics that leaked before the actual song was released? Is Gaga trolling us?

Below 500k would be a bit disappointing, jmo.

The roll-out for this album is really exciting; it feels like an actual event. Typically I don't buy into her crap, but it's all working for me this time.

^It was 375k. The first estimate 400k. Now 300-350k. It keeps going down... Luckily for you, she writes for the music not the charts. Lol.

I'm guessing 325K. If you're not comparing to BTW, it's still a big achievement.

Below 500k would be a bit disappointing, jmo. You'll be disappointed then. Not for me. I'll enjoy the album either way. But going from above a 1mil opening to below 500k has to be disappointing to the label.

^No. The label has publically said they expected 375,000.
Best Buy circular:
Lady GaGa $11.99

How much is the album at iTunes? $14.99?
I'm surprised it's $11.99 at Target/Best Buy. Most new cds are $9.99 their first week.
Is it their revenge for the 99 cent sale at Amazon that left them with so many unsold cds on the shelves??? I remember Best Buy had shelves and shelves full of the BTW album.

If they wanted revenge, they wouldn't order in a lot of CDs to ensure there aren't any left on the shelves this time around.
The album at iTunes is more than the typical new release also, isn't it? I thought $14.99 was a lot for a digital album.

I was wondering about that too. Only thing I could come up with is that normally pop star major releases have a regular album priced around $10, with a deluxe album around $14-16. Since there's only one version of the album domestically, I think they just thought they would go in between those two price points at $12-13.

I think the album will drop on iTunes after a few weeks. Since they know stans will buy it first week no matter what, they are probably trying to maximize profits. Then as holiday shopping goes up and hype dies down, decrease the price a little.

I was half joking about it being revenge. It's all about profit, baby! www.billboard.com/articles/news/5785696/lady-gaga-teams-with-hm-for-release-of-artpop-albumLady Gaga Teams With H&M for Release of 'ARTPOP' Album By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles | November 10, 2013 Lady Gaga has teamed with clothing retailer H&M for the release of her new album "ARTPOP." The diva's latest release, due out Nov. 11, will be carried in 175 of the chain's U.S. stores this week. Sources say that a fairly small quantity of the album will be stocked by the retailer, and will not be replenished. It will be sold for $9.95 at H&M. In addition, Lady Gaga will be on hand at the grand opening of the new H&M store in New York's Times Square on Nov. 14. While sales of the album at H&M will not count towards the Billboard charts, that shouldn't dampen the set's debut sales week. Industry sources forecast "ARTPOP" to sell between 300,000 to 350,000 in its first week in the U.S. (H&M does not report its sales to Nielsen SoundScan, which tracks music sales for Billboard's charts.) While H&M doesn't report to SoundScan, there are a number of other non-traditional music retailers that do: Nordstrom, JCPenney and Walgreens, for example. The latter company partnered with Taylor Swift for the launch of her "Red" album a year ago.

^I'm sure H&M will start reporting to SoundScan this week! lol. they do say it's a small amount.
Of course they will be counted for RIAA purposes...

Lmao what am I even watching in that?
I think that is a good strategy Do What U Want-mega fans will buy it despite a slightly higher priced cd and then when the holidays come around and more of the casual fans may buy it they can drop it down a bit. Personally, Gaga is worth more than 8-9 dollars to me so I don't mind paying a few dollars more.

So I got bored and decided to do a quick setlist/theme for the Artpop tour. Would be divided into 5 themed parts, plus the encore. And yes I'm aware there's no Born This Way on it, and yes that was on purpose.

Mary Jane's Fashion Boutique 8. Fashion! 9. Donatella 10. Black Jesus/Amen Fashion 11. Mary Jane Holland 12. Jewels n Drugs
Love, Gypsy Style 13. The Edge of Glory 14. Highway Unicorn 15. You and I 16. Speechless 17. Gypsy
Art 18. Dance in the Dark 19. Bloody Mary 20. Paparazzi 21. Sheibe 22. Swine
Pop 23. Manicure 24. Boys Boys Boys 25. Just Dance 26. So Happy I Could Die 27. Telephone
Artpop (Encore) 28. Artpop 29. Bad Romance 30. Applause

30 songs? She'll be exhausted! 25ish seems to be the standard for most acts these days, but I think Gaga could handle a few more. If not some of those could be cut short/put in a medley.
