I finally listened to the whole album, expecting to be disappointed given all the reviews I had read, but I fuckin' love it overall. Falls flat in certain parts, but the general ridiculousness she infuses in everything she does make the shitty songs at least unintentionally hilarious. 'Dope' fucking slew me.
Hard to say where this stacks up in comparison to her first 3 (2.5?) albums, but it's a solid addition.

LOVE * Applause - This grew on me with time and is one of my favorites of 2013. * Do What U Want - One of her best singles, ever. * Sexxx Dreams - My favorite Lady Gaga song, ever. * Jewels N Drugs - makes me wanna twurq. * MANiCURE - love it live and album version. YES! * Venus - cute 80's pop. * ARTPOP - relaxing.
LIKE * Swine - I wasn't a fan of the iTunes Festival version, but the album version is so much better. * Gypsy - Prefer the piano version she performed in Germany, album version is decent. * G.U.Y - Heard it for the first time yesterday, reminds me of something from the early 2000s. * Dope - I really liked "I Wanna Be With You", but the album version isn't bad. She kind of sounds like a drunk Aunty singing at a holiday party.
DON'T CARE FOR * Donatella - I don't even remember listening to this haha. It's forgettable. * Aura - I never liked the demo or the iTunes Festival version or the verses, but this might grow on me because that chorus is cute. * Mary Jane Holland - Sounds like a step child of the amazing "Bloody Mary", except it's not great. * Fashion! - Boring. I prefer her first "Fashion" from Confessions of a Shopaholic.

I've got to hand it to Gaga, she is promoting the shit out of this album, to the point of being physically exhausted, which is more than any other artist can say. I was watching a show on TV yesterday at work, not sure what it was cuz the volume was off, maybe E! or TMZ or something, but it had Katy and Miley and Gaga covered, and Gaga looked really cute in her interviews and red carpets. I was sorta mesmerized by her.

I don't think anything is given away for free. I just think the singles (from Katy and Gaga) were ultimately shrewdly given away, and subtracted from original sales, as an effort to boost single sales to potentially make it seem as if their current promo single was more popular than what it really was. And honestly, I don't think any song: Dark Horse, Walking On Air, DWYW, Dope, or Venus, WOULD'VE gotten to #1 had it not have been for the preorders. but unfortunately, this is a wave of the future, and i'm willing to bet the other girls take note. let's say Beyoncé releases an album 6 months from now. she could put her album (and single) on preorder. people wouldn't be putting their money towards the single, they'd be putting their money towards the album. Suddenly, the label introduces the single, the preorders come into effect, and suddenly, the single is a huge smash. Why? Well, the album had a ton of preorders, so of course the single is going to resonate off that, which isn't fair at all. Suddenly the single fairs well because of the album, and not because of how the single resonates within the fanbase. It's because of the album preorder sales. I see a trend going that I do not like and I can't do anything about. I actually see Billboard doing something about this, but it might not be for some time until it gets out of control. But rest be sure the main girls are going to do this. Maybe JT and Bruno, too. Mainly pop acts. But your making it seem like every Promo single went top 10 on the Hot 100, are you not? I mean just because the songs went up to #1 on the Itunes chart did not make it a smash. I would personally prefer the way Justin did it, as all his singles moved up the Itunes, based on actual single purchases. :)

Thanks Rocky for the videos. Pretty amazing rave. God, I wish I were there!
That production on 'G.U.Y.' is not to be fucked with! Omgness! If that or 'Venus' isn't the third single, I am going to be an angry monster. Still don't get the fascination w/'Gypsy'.

I'm just commenting on the fact I see a trend going with preorders, and that other artists will likely follow suit. And then you'll have artists down the road putting up their album preorder 6 months to a year in advance, with the lead single not even announced or titled yet, and even tho it can potentially be crap, it will still be this huge iTunes smash. I guess all is fair in love and war, but I see Billboard eventually doing something about it.

If that or 'Venus' isn't the third single, I am going to be an angry monster. Still don't get the fascination w/'Gypsy'. I'm leaning heavily towards Venus at this point. If you're going to be Gaga and be weird, and that's her shtick, then go all out and just do it. It's a grower, and I think it could be huge. there will be those who say "well what about call out scores and radio friendly-ness?" look at the reviews. I agree with the reviews that say if she is going to be this "weird" artist, then she should embrace it and not look for radio hits and try to be safe. Other artists can do that. I'm actually leaning towards the notion that she should distance herself from everyone else and just release whatever she wants, and NOT be safe. I think in the long run of her legacy, it will resonate more. Her touring numbers will be phenomenal regardless, so despite her Hot 100 track record and ridiculous fanbase petty arguments, what does she really have to lose? Album sales will be there, touring sales will be there, so why not just go all out and just BE Gaga? Release Venus.

So she explained why she changed I Wanna Be With You to Dope on the Howard Stern show. She said her label really liked it a lot, and she accused the label of only liking it because ballads were/are hot at the time. So, she didn't want to seem like an Adele rip off or whatever, so she made the lyrics as far away from Adele as possible.

I don't think anyone mentioned this but ARTPOP will be one of many albums to be discounted to $7 at Target on Black Friday.

Lady Gaga fans are threatening to behead my daughter, rape my mother, and make me have oral sex with a Black man with smelly penis. Still dying at Angela Cheng or whatever her name is. Still suffering from jet lag so I am going to need this shot of adrenaline (i.e. Artpop) to get me through today. Is she a real person anyway? I still stand to my opinion about haters that they must have a horrible life and it makes me sad. In one of the comments, someone discovered that the picture 'Angela' is using is apparently a stock photo. And there is some other writer out there on Twitter who posts almost the exact same things she does so some think they are the same person.

They are out for money, pure and simple. Gaga has the touring numbers, and she has the album numbers. Once, finally, the execs realize this, they will be more willing to let her release what she wants, and you know that's Venus. There won't be money lost (even tho it might flop on radio), because it will spark more interest in touring, and that's waaaay more money. like 1.29 single compared to $100 concert ticket to see "the weirdness". I feel a transition brewing.

In the album booklet for "Fashion!" producers it says "Produced by: Giorgio Tuinfort for Piano Music/What A Music, will.i.am for will.i.am music, llc & David Guetta for What A Music and Lady Gaga"
llc & David Guetta... is it IIC or LLC? And is that supposed to be a person or what? I'm confused.

No, it's "will.i.am music, llc" aka "Will.I.Am Music, LLC" aka en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Limited_liability_companyI literally thought of that, but it's super confusing. They use "and" and "&" in the same thing making it a total clusterfuck, and including their companies, not just the producer names, is super obnoxious. just will.i.am is special because he does will.i.am recordings, llc (I forget what the 2nd word is) all in lower case because of his name, making it even more confusing.

Dunno if it's been mentioned or not, but Larry Rudolph is rumored to be chatting it up with Gaga about possibly managing her too. I'm not sure how credible that is since I thought she'd have to be on RCA for him to manage her, but maybe not?

Rolling Stone ReviewRolling Stone just rated this 3 out of 5 stars. This snarky comment made me bust out laughing: Gaga wants us to believe the LP was inspired by Marina Abramović, Jeff Koons and Sandro Botticelli; at its best, it sounds like it was creatively directed by RuPaul, Dr. Ruth, and Beavis and Butt-Head.
