I'm still all about this album, and the only song I actively dislike is "Donatella." Everything else is pretty incredible, especially "G.U.Y", which is easily already one of my top 5 Gaga tracks. The first 5 songs, "Gypsy" & "Do What U Want" are the points of perfection though.

Not at all surprised at the metacritic score, and not because I firmly believe every is a "hater". It's just not that strong of an album. Is it still at 62? I want to see if it hits 58/100 like I gave it lol. Don't understand how some of y'all can't like G.U.Y. lol. The lyrics makes sense and are clever and the melody & hooks work so well. It's basically like an upgraded The Fame single with TFM qualities, all things considered. Not overproduced like some of the other stuff on the album.
Yes, I will stan for this song until it's released as a single. I'd want it 3rd if I didn't think it would be a bad idea to do it and DWUW back-to-back.
I don't hear The Fame, I hear melodies dating back to early 2000's with current production. Lyrics are a little awk for me, but it's by far the album standout and one of the most refreshing tracks I've heard this year. One criticism I don't get is that is lacks a melody and is overproduced-- it's one of the few songs on the album that doesn't suffer from either criticism.

I'm just praying it's not the Starstruck/Monster/Scheiße of the era. I have more faith in her team this era though because of the last minute "Do What U Want" single switch.

After having listened to the album a few times, I have to say I really love it. I don't hate any of the tracks, though I don't love "MANiCURE", "Donatella", and "Fashion!". I felt they were the weakest compared to the others, but I wouldn't skip them when listening to the album. Gypsy", "G.U.Y", "Sexxx Dreams", "Do What U Want", and "Venus" are my favorites. The album ranks below The Fame Monster and Born This Way for me, but still miles above The Fame. ARTPOP get an A- from me. I did a full review here.

Either they are pressed or they have no idea how the pre-orders work. When it comes to a review even on a 'site' like the Examiner, they really could take a few moments to do some research so they don't look so ignorant and stupid. It's ridiculous.

I guess I just don't agree.
if someone preorders ARTPOP in August, they shouldn't be counted for a "sale" of "DWYW", "Venus", or "Dope". If someone preorders PRISM in September, they shouldn't be counted for a sale of "Walking On Air" or "Dark Horse". If they preordered during the promotion of the singles (for both artists) then that's their fault. The label got them. But someone preordering months in advance shouldn't be counted as a sale.
I mean, clearly I might be in the minority in this term of thinking, but I don't think so. It's so misleading. Judging from the iTunes positions of all the singles I mentioned, and how far they free-falled after the first week, it seems stupid and disproportional to their potential popularity.
I don't care about the reviews, but I think the preorder ordeal (for any artist, not just Katy and Gaga) is a huge hot mess.

Went to H&M to get the "Limited Edition" pink foil copy and they only had the edited version. Went to Walmart, and it turns out the limited edition isn't so limited since they had it too. but, again, it was the edited version.
$9.98 at H&M $14.98 at Walmart
Has anyone had any luck finding the explicit copy in pink foil?

Yeah, I saw the edited limited version at Walmart (don't ask me what I was doing at Walmart), but I passed. I'm going to go this week for the explicit.

I love how that Angela person only has 140 followers on twitter. LMAO!
And every single tweet? Wow.... I bet even the kraziest Gaga stans can sway off of Gaga for a tweet or two... that's kind of... obsessive...

However, I think people who have already pre-ordered should have a choice whether to pay for and download the new songs, and also iTunes needs to make it VERY clear whether anything will be purchased and downloaded right away.

Spree-I think the Itunes/Presales thing is a mess too and I don't entirely like how they are doing it, but I think most people are commenting on that reviewer claiming that Gaga ALONE is cheating and manipulating deliberately when really she has no control over over what Itunes/Billboard decide to do and literally everyone else has it happen to them as well. It was just more dramatic with Gaga because she had a shitload of preorders which, again, isn't her fault if her fans wanted to preorder the cd.
I would NOT pay attention to examiner at all. They are a pay-for-clicks site so that means they will literally write whatever dramatic s**t possible to make people click on it. I literally don't even open the website anymore. She is probably being paid to attack Gaga non-stop because idiots who dislike Gaga will be like HURR HURR LEMME SHARE THIS IT IS SO TRUE and/or fans of Gaga will flock because they wanted to read how stupid it is. Do NOT click and give her/them money for their deliberate stan-bait.

Haha don't even pay attention to the Examiner, they're not legitimate or real critics. There are two posters in particular on there that have an obsession with hating Gaga. They give the most biased, obsessed, ignorant "reviews" I've ever seen. It's safe to say that they're not going to do much more with journalism if they keep writing reviews like that.

I don't even think they want to be journalists. They get paid per click so if you are getting paid per click are you going to write something reasonable or something to get an artist's millions of haters and fans to click on the website? It is actually really smart, but it drives me crazy because I still see people citing Examiner like it is a legitimate website with real journalists posting credible articles and information lol.

you know what this is going to lead to in the long run...
as soon as any artist wants to release a new album in the future...
put everything on layaway...er...I mean...preorder. That way, every single gets bumped, making it seem as if there is some interest, when there clearly is not. Because of the preorders, all the singles go Top 10 or beyond, and it makes it seem like there is this huge interest.
Beyoncé, Britney, Rihanna, and Taylor are going to do this. Just you wait. Katy and Gaga were the catalysts.

SPRΞΞ My point about pre-orders in relation to the article was that she wrote they are given away for free. You actually pay when they download, so it's not free at all. Maybe not something you would have purchased on your own prior to the album, but definitely not free. ETA: I know the conversation has kind of moved on past this but I just wanted to throw that out there lol

I don't think anything is given away for free. I just think the singles (from Katy and Gaga) were ultimately shrewdly given away, and subtracted from original sales, as an effort to boost single sales to potentially make it seem as if their current promo single was more popular than what it really was. And honestly, I don't think any song: Dark Horse, Walking On Air, DWYW, Dope, or Venus, WOULD'VE gotten to #1 had it not have been for the preorders.
but unfortunately, this is a wave of the future, and i'm willing to bet the other girls take note.
let's say Beyoncé releases an album 6 months from now.
she could put her album (and single) on preorder.
people wouldn't be putting their money towards the single, they'd be putting their money towards the album. Suddenly, the label introduces the single, the preorders come into effect, and suddenly, the single is a huge smash. Why? Well, the album had a ton of preorders, so of course the single is going to resonate off that, which isn't fair at all. Suddenly the single fairs well because of the album, and not because of how the single resonates within the fanbase. It's because of the album preorder sales. I see a trend going that I do not like and I can't do anything about.
I actually see Billboard doing something about this, but it might not be for some time until it gets out of control. But rest be sure the main girls are going to do this. Maybe JT and Bruno, too. Mainly pop acts.

Lady Gaga fans are threatening to behead my daughter, rape my mother, and make me have oral sex with a Black man with smelly penis.
Still dying at Angela Cheng or whatever her name is. Still suffering from jet lag so I am going to need this shot of adrenaline (i.e. Artpop) to get me through today.

Singles 'looking like they're more popular' than they really are may be good for stan bragging rights, but if they aren't ACTUAL big hits they aren't pulling in any money or making an impact so it's all meaningless.
