it makes NO DIFFERENCE to me what they are singing about. he could be singing about a pocket full of freakin sunshine and I still wouldn't like it. the media and radio seem to not care about R Kelly raping a 13 yrold girl. It makes me sad (as a gaga fan) that she would decide to do a duet with him. At some point, in some interview, someone is going to ask her about it. When THAT happens I look forward to hearing her response. until then I will enjoy the solo performance she did of it and listen to that i too frequently ponder upon the thought of what she would do when asked i think she would start a speech about being born this way? which would backfire. but even if the song is about the media or w/e the "do what i want w/ ur body" line is inappropriate. it's similar to chris brown singing "i wanna give it to you in the worst way" on that song with rihanna. celebrities (gaga, rihanna, miley) have no morals, this is why ARTPOP is going to debut under PRISM. .... Submission can be a consensual sexual activity. The fact that she gives consent before he sings his line is what makes the line acceptable.

You are absolutely right. But what if you interpret the song from the male (rapist) perspective? He imagines her telling him to do what he wants with her body, etc as a kind of twisted self reassurance, that his actions aren't causing harm for anyone, that they're actually sought after. Similarly to the book "Lolita", or the song by Lana Del Rey based on it, "Off to the Races", where even the little girls parts are written from the eyes/mind of the pedophile, who imagines the situation as normal and mutually happy. It could be a very good dark rape anthem if you look at it that way.
Personally that is how I chose to interpret it, because it is a lot more interesting than the media thing Gaga thought of, and good rape songs are hard to come by. (I like a wide variety of topics in my library).

smh @ the trolling all the people falling for it. spoonabdul3fyi, R Kelly was charged with child pornography, not rape. For someone claiming to know about the case, you sure are going off of a lot of gossip. If Gaga were asked the question, which I doubt since he was never found guilty & it would be considered slander for any interviewer/reporter to suggest it, she'll just point to the fact that he's a nice person and "would never do that" or sth like that.

The amazon 99 cents deal for Born This Way is now hurting her because with Art Pop it's gonna look like a 75% decline in opening week sales!

After multiple listens, I think this may be better than Born This Way. It's like the lighter counterpart to it. Her albums all get better as she makes them.

I love this album, but I have so many personal experiences and nostalgia linked to the beginning of the BTW era so I can't compare this yet. This definitely is not a disappointment compared to its predecessor, though.

I know exactly what you mean but I'm trying hard to separate my own memories and experiences with the songs and the actual quality of the music. I think ARTPOP may be better quality wise!

I feel the same way too. 2011 was one of the most weird years of my life and the BTW era definitely made me forget sometimes and whenever I get to listen to the album I always get a smile at the end because it all seems so far away now. I feel the same way too about Teenage Dream so both of these ladies' latest albums will have a hard time competing with their predecessors despite being more my cup of tea than them.

This album will also have its own distinct personality though (not that it doesn't now), an album always feels different after the era than at the beginning.

R Kelly was found not guilty on all 14 counts. ok and OJ was innocent also. there was freaking video of it and everyone who knows anything about the case knows he was guilty. im officially done talking about it though. You need to find some consistency in your answers to the examples people are giving you.

lol, why is this suddenly about R Kelly? The GP, teenagers and mid-20's-late 20's BARELY, or not at all, know who he is. It hasn't even been brought up.
If they don't care about Chris Brown, and that would seem an immensely bigger issue, than they for sure wouldn't care about this.

If people in their 20s don't know who R. Kelly is, they're either Amish or really loving that rock they've been under their whole life.

It's even mentioned in Thrift Shop and many tv shows. It's common knowledge that he paid off the family.

Wow…I go away from the thread and it's the same people talking the same shit. Anyway, my best friend, who previously to this era really didn't like Lady Gaga or anything she represented, is now a fan. She said the beats are great and she has a really good voice. She just really wants her to drop the "antics" and "preaching". I told her that is part of who Lady Gaga is and she needs to just accept that. Oh…and her favorite song is Dope, which is mine as well. That song REALLY speaks to my heart and soul…much more than a song like "G.U.Y."

Even if he's innocent, most people know him to be "the rapper who pissed on a little girl" especially after Thrift Shop earlier this year where everyone who didn't know googled "R Kelly Piss", and I'm pretty sure you can get what the top results are. In other news, final numbers today! I wonder if they'll be higher than 238k.
