It better be crazy outrageous good too!
I also hope that there is so little for people to make a connection to Madonna at all. I think the one thing she needs is to avoid any sort of Madonna comparison.

I am really excited. Fame Monster and Born This Way are two of my favorite pop cds of the past 2-3 years. I hope she continues making great music.

So if we compare this timeline of events to Born This Way, that would suggest the new album in January or February because BTW's title was announced on New Years, the single was out 6 weeks later and the album was out after five months. But to be realistic, it's likely not going to follow the exact timeline. We'll keep updates as they come on the new album in this topic, eh? I see what you did there! I post the timeline of BTW in the previous thread, you lock it, start a new one, and say the same thing and don't cite me as a source! >:( :'( I think she should release the single in September, do a VMA performance, release it to iTunes then, have radio eat it up again, etc. BTW's release worked great so try it again haha. Then release the album the week of Black Friday! Get huge first week sales, maybe a discount or two , then add more sales from Black Friday! Beat her old record, anyone?

She should do the VMAs. They're scheduled for Sept. 6 and she has a night off from the tour on that date. It's just that the poor woman is gonna be a bit overworked. But it'd be so perfect. Premiere the single that week on radio, perform at the VMAs, and radio will eat it up during that entire last month on tour until October. By the time that month is over, she'll be ready to start promoting the album for the holidays, and most likely start the North American BTW Ball leg in the new year with an adjusted setlist (hopefully not cutting too many BTW tracks & just adding the first 2-3 singles like Rihanna did with the Last Girl on Earth tour).
This is all just so exciting and it's so near. I honestly feared she'd wait till the BTW Ball was completely over and release the album more than two years after BTW. Thank goodness that isn't the case.

Hopefully she goes with "Lady Gaga" or even "Stefani" for the album title.

Late to see this, but so excited. Hoping for something more commercial this time around, but still original and on top of trends, kind of like The Fame Monster was. I agree that releasing the single in September and album in November would be best.

I thought we were in trouble but no one had been bad haha. I meant to put a ;) at the end so you would know I was joking.

The moderators don't generally keep threads for multiple albums by the same artist open. Once there's an official announcement of a new album and a thread is made, the old one gets closed. It keeps all the news on the artist consolidated into one thread rather than having it spread among two.

Yeah, I didn't see this thread at the time, so I was confused. Then I thought to look for a new thread since we finally had (some) info on the new album, and there it was.

Lady Gaga Suffers Concussion During Auckland Concert Receives blow to the head, but goes on with the showLady Gaga received a concussion in the middle of her Born This Way Ball show in Auckland, New Zealand on Sunday. During the song "Judas," one of the dancers accidentally hit the singer on the head with a pole. According to fan site Gagamedia.net, Gaga continued with the performance for another 16 songs. "I want to apologize," she told the crowd. "I did hit my head and I think I may have a concussion but don’t you worry I will finish this show." Lady Gaga's makeup artist later confirmed through Twitter that the singer was recovering: "Gaga has a concussion but she is going to be okay. She wants u to know she loves u. I'm taking care of her.cant believe she finished the show." - RollingStone

Oh man. :/ That sucks that she got a concussion. I bet that dancer is going to be fired now.

The dancer shouldn't be fired. Do we not remember this? . . . everybody makes mistakes. I will say that her going on with this show makes her a true professional. Nobody can question that she works hard and will stop at nothing.

Vogue Taps Lady Gaga for September IssueSECOND TIME’S A CHARM: When Lady Gaga’s first Vogue cover was published in March 2011, it was an instant hit at newsstand and eventually became the second biggest seller of the year. No wonder Vogue is going with Gaga again, this time for its all-important September cover. According to sources, Gaga has already been shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott to mark the debut of her first fragrance from Coty Beauty, which is set to come out sometime in the fall. The scent may be named Monster, according to reports. When she signed the license in September 2010, Gaga said it would smell of “blood and semen.” Perhaps she’ll tweak that description a bit for the Vogue reader. -WWD

This looks is wonderful. I love the orange/purple contrast.
The hair is cute to.
I hope she is doing well. Ever the professional.
Wish she was coming to Adelaide. We sold her show out last time...

Album title in September. Vogue in September as well, which means she's stopping her media break. Exciting news!

I wish Billboard gave us less rounded data. Good to see "You and I" reaching (or almost reaching, depending on the rounding) 2 million in sales. That's pretty impressive considering it only peaked at #7 on Pop radio.

So over 8 million cds sold and over 40 million digital tracks in the US alone. Not bad for a four year career ha ha.
I say over 40 million for digital tracks because she has sold significant amounts with Starstruck, Hair, Marry the Night, and Judas none of which were counted.

Do we know the sales of "Marry the night" or "Judas"?

Judas at one point was over 700K and MTN over 300K. That was a LONG time ago though. I doubt they sold significantly more, of course.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judas_(song)According to Nielsen SoundScan, "Judas" has sold 822,000 copies of digital downloads in the U.S. as of October 8, 2011. No source, though. Couldn't find anything for MTN.

Marry The Night is certified Gold by RIAA so we'd be safe to assume around 500k until we can get a more accurate figure. And yes, her sales so far are very impressive. Even one of her flops will probably go Platinum some time next year.
