Chris Brown is not doing over 200k. I woudn't be too sure. His fans are known to flock out the first week to buy his albums. He almost never has longevity though. I see him going as high as 175k. & I think that'll be a challenge in its self w/these recent R&B acts, w/or w/o huge hits, can't even surpass 130k. Chris doesn't have any major hits, nor any buzz this time around like he did for his last release. Plus his music is crap now & I feel he'll pull some Usher #s. It would be nice to see if the BET Awards can help him do 150k.

I think the pushback is probably what will hurt Chris the most but I still think he'll have a good first week. The anticipated 275k doesn't really seem that farfetched, though I see it more in the ballpark of 200-220k because the lack of a current hit single shouldn't really hurt him since he has a solid enough core (I think). Plus TeamBreezy seems as rabid as ever.

I'd be truly shocked if he can pull 200k+. Let's wait & see.

Brandy at 90k though. Now that is what IDK about... I don't see it doing more than 50k opening week, maybe a bit less. Human did less than 90k and that was off a top 40 single and four years ago. For Chris Brown, I really don't know what to expect. I don't think it will do more than 200k but I'm not sure his fanbase will let it flop- at least not in the first week. Maybe 150k.

And No Doubt is really a wild card at this point. I can't tell if the online hype will translate into hype by the public at large. They do look like they have a nice promo schedule so far though. We'll have to see how radio, iTunes reacts to "Settle Down".
As of now my projection is pretty much in line with that New Release Schedule: 130k

Sorry for the third post in a row and getting ahead of myself and the charts as it's not out until September but: thinking about it No Doubt has never been a big 'first week' act. Even off the hype of Tragic Kingdom and the massive album sales of the era, Return of Saturn opened with 202k and Rock Steady 255k in December nonetheless.

i think No Doubt is a shoe-in for #1 when it comes time. At least 200k, just based on hype.

Whitney Houston and Barbra Streisand have been added to Sept. 25 on the New Release Schedule. Taylor Swift is listed at October TBD. Mariah Carey and Celine Dion are not listed at all. What about Jackie Evancho? Projected release date is Oct 2nd. Yes, she is listed under Oct. 2.

www.billboard.com/column/chartbeat#/news/r-kelly-set-for-14th-top-10-on-billboard-1007471752.storyR. Kelly Set for 14th Top 10 on Billboard 200, Linkin Park for No. 1by Keith Caulfield, L.A. | June 29, 2012 R&B titan R. Kelly is set for his 14th top 10 album next week on the Billboard 200 with "Write Me Back." Industry sources suggest the album, his eleventh solo studio release, may sell around 65,000 by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, July 1. That should be enough to secure him a top 10 entry, but he won't be the highest bow next week. Linkin Park is looking for its fifth No. 1, as its "Living Things" should debut atop the list. Meanwhile, Maroon 5 seems poised for a No. 2 start with "Overexposed." The former is looking at a launch of near 230,000 to 240,000 while the latter may bow with a number in the 210,000 to 220,000 range. The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, July 4. Justin Bieber's current No. 1 album, "Believe," will likely fall to the No. 3 slot with perhaps around 120,000. It debuted at No. 1 this past week with 374,000 sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Other albums heading for high bows next week include the "Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made, Vol. 2" compilation, which could sell 80,000 to 90,000. NBC's "The Sing Off" winner Pentatonix has a shot at a top 15 bow with its "PTX Volume 1" EP, as it could sell 20,000 to 30,000 copies. On Nielsen SoundScan's Building chart (below), Linkin Park and Maroon 5 are at Nos. 1 and 2, while Bieber is No. 3. The Building tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week as reported by six major merchants. The "Maybach" set is No. 4, while Usher's "Looking 4 Myself" is in fifth place, followed by R. Kelly at No. 6. Kenny Chesney's "Welcome to the Fishbowl" is No. 7, Adele's "21" is No. 8 and One Direction's "Up All Night" is No. 9. Closing out the top 10 is Pentatonix at No. 10. Nielsen SoundScan Building Chart Rank LW BB 200 Artist Title 1 NEW Linkin Park "Living Things" 2 NEW Maroon 5 "Overexposed" 3 1 Justin Bieber "Believe" 4 NEW Various Artists "Maybach Music Group Presents: Self Made, Vol. 2" 5 6 Usher "Looking 4 Myself" 6 NEW R. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.

120k would mean 68% drop for Justin. Not very good.
But nice for Usher, ahead of Kenny Chesney at this point.

^But that's in line with 2nd week drops of big profile releases.
68%-72% drops are the new norm.

Even off the hype of Tragic Kingdom and the massive album sales of the era, Return of Saturn opened with 202k and Rock Steady 255k in December nonetheless. Keeping in mind that in the last decade, more focus has been put on first week sales than used to be.

At least Usher is not falling off the charts. "Lemme See" is creating a very stable base for his Urban fans.

So I just realized a 5th consecutive #1 album for Linkin Park ties them for 2nd for most consecutive #1 albums behind the Beatles (who hold the record with 8 consecutive #1 albums).
Actually nevermind I'm forgetting their two live albums.

Till I Die is also taking off relatively well there. I think people are aware that he has a new album coming out, and they will buy it. I would be shocked if he does under 200k.
