The inductees may have leaked, via savvy searchers. Putting an nominee's name in the Hall of Fame inductees - whether first and last names lowercase or capitalized- URL yields an "Access denied" for six of the nominees, and "Page cannot be found" for others. The six potential inductees: The Doobie Brothers Depeche Mode Nine Inch Nails The Notorious B.I.G. T. Rex Whitney Houston We'll see if that's indeed how it pans out. If so, it would be disappointing that Pat B. would be missing, but maybe next time. Interestingly, Pat is one of four - along with Kraftwerk, Motorhead and Dave Matthews Band - who, if you capitalize the first and last names, gets an "Access denied" message. OMG WHITNEY AND DEPECHE MODE!!!!!!! Super happy for Nine Inch Nails and Biggie too.

THis happened with the Grammys. It takes like one hour max to update websites. Can't they just update it after they announce it?

I would hate if this list was accurate. I love Whitney, but a posthumous induction over a living and worthy artist is just f*cked up. Pat Benatar is literally the only relevant female 80's rocker who's not inducted as of yet. Why couldn't there be two females inducted like last year (Stevie Nicks & Janet Jackson)? I would be happy with Doobie Brothers and Depeche Mode though.

As for The Bangles. girl groups or female led bands aren't inducted as much, which sucks. If you wanna be technical, there is The Eurythmics, Scandal, Quarterflash, The Motels, The Divinyls, Berlin, etc. These women/bands will probably not see a nomination any time soon.

Janet getting in helped WHitney get in, now WHitney getting in should help Mariah get in.

Now it says "Access denied" for all, so either the Hall was updating sporadically through the day or they're playing with us.
As much as I think Whitney is deserving, I'd be surprised if she got enough votes and Pat/Neil didn't.

Maybe there was vote splitting?

I guess Pat Benatar and Chaka Khan have to die first to get inducted?

Wonder who will give the induction speech for Whitney: Jennifer Hudson, Mariah Carey, Babyface, Clive Davis, Brandy, Cissy Houston? I could also picture J-Hud and Brandy doing the tribute performance.

Janet was last year, Whitney is this year in the natural progression, Mariah *should* be next year and AIWFCIY going #1 should seal that deal.

^Chart success isn't a main factor, though. If so, she would have been a first-year-eligible nominee. :) Also, JJ and WH had been eligible for 10-plus years before their induction; going by that, MC may have to wait some before a nomination.

I'm glad that the industry is finally reapreciating R&B from the 80s and foward. It was absolutely ridiculous the way music critics trashed this genre over the years. After Janet and now Whitney, I expect to see Mariah, D'Angelo and Erykah Badu getting some love.

Yeah but one could argue Whitney got in thanks to Higher Love

^It was more of a big global hit than a U.S. one, though. The song could have raised her profile among voters, though, as it had never been released (most relevant to the Rock Hall, in the USA).

Maybe not next year, but in the next 5 years, give or take? Yes. She should be. Also, Pat Benatar needs to be in.

Whitney Houston is in the Rock Hall of Fame.
Motรถrhead, Judas Priest & Soundgarden aren't.
I have no words for this.

Whitneyโs impact on music has been huge since her arrival. Cue all the fragile outdated rock heads who are upset over Whitneyโs induction (and to a lesser extend, Biggy).

Whitneyโs impact on music has been huge since her arrival. Cue all the fragile outdated rock heads who are upset over Whitneyโs induction (and to a lesser extend, Biggy). Whitney's impact on music itself has been huge. No doubt. Her impact on Rock n Roll has been very little. I'm not saying that she doesn't deserve to be in a hall of fame. She does. She should be in a hall of fame. But not this one.
You could just change the name to something like International Music HoF. I guess no one would argue then. Every artist here deserves to be in a HoF like this. Whitney, Biggie, Chaka Khan. All of them. But it's still called Rock n Roll HoF. Not the Music hall of fame. So of course people (especially rock fans) will be upset and discuss about how this all doesn't seem to make sense to them.
Talking about the impact, why is Kraftwerk not inducted. They are probably the most influental band of all time after The Beatles. They even have rock credibility as they were part of the Krautrock scene in the early 70s. How is Judas Priest not inducted. They had their 50 year anniversary this year and are a legendary act in the heavy metal genre. (And their basically the band that introduced the leather/black steorotypical metal fashion to the world). How is f'n Lemmy Kilmister not in the hall of fame. I don't even need arguments for that.
I could go on and on.
(This sounds way more upset than I actually am.)

Because ignorant rock fans look at the name at face value and don't really realize that the term "Rock & Roll" is an umbrella definition for music post-1953.
