One of the DJs on my loca station said Psy is already #1 in a lot of countries around the world, but has yet to go #1 here in the US. Psy said he has something planned to go #1.Following Carly Rae Jepsen's lead of leaking a sex tape for extra sales?! :o But I'm sure he'll have some sort of Voice/Idol/X Factor performance or something relatively soon. I figured it'll be a performance. Where he'll perform at, IDK.

I think it's pretty obvious he's performing this on the X-Factor.

I seem to remember that "4 Seasons of Loneliness" was a Chart Golden Turkey; Big initial chart numbers based on the Seismic successes of Boyz II Men's previous 6 years. But once it peaked, I recall "4" had almost no recurrent play, and within 6 months, their Mainstream chart career was over forever. It was actually kind of bizarre, considering how huge they were, even the year before. And its not like the musical landscape shifted... I often felt that BIIM came out with too many ballads and got pidgeon-holed by programmers as an act incapable of uptempo success (ironic, considering their first hit).

15 years since the most forgettable #1 of the 90's. What an epic top ten, let me first say. Except for #1. Every other one of those top tens has become iconic in its own right.

'A Song For Mama' was a decent sized Mainstream hit after '4'.

Didn't 4 Seasons not even go Top20? A Song for Mama barely broke the top 40.

Is X-Factory USA an outlet that would spur something to go to No. 1? Well, I suppose if it's close to it, it could.

:( "4 Seasons Of Loneliness" is great. Excellent song. Forgettable? Now, probably. I think it was decently popular in the late nineties. I think there are some #1 songs that are more forgettable from the 90s. Although it is pretty obscure now, "4 Seasons Of Loneliness" at least has the advantage of being by an iconic act. Unlike these moldy oldies that topped the Hot 100: Divine, "Lately" Tommy Page, "I'll Be Your Everything" Surface, "The First Time" Timmy T, "One More Try" Sweet Sensation, "If Wishes Came True" Glenn Medeiros ft. Bobby Brown, "She Ain't Worth It" Not to mention other big acts of the era who topped the chart with songs that haven't been heard since the Clinton administration: Roxette, "Joyride" Karyn White, "Romantic" Wilson Phillips, "You're In Love," "Release Me" Whitney Houston, "All The Man That I Need" Mariah Carey, "My All," "I Don't Wanna Cry" R. Kelly & Celine Dion, "I'm Your Angel" Madonna, "This Used To Be My Playground" Not saying these are necessarily bad songs (I love quite a few of them), but I would imagine there's a foot of dust on their recurrent numbers.

Really? Was it getting a ton of recurrent play before her passing? I doubt it's in the top 15 of songs most people think of when they think of Whitney. Again, I'm not saying it's a bad song...it just hasn't had the longevity most of her other hits have had.

Before her death, you'd be right. But believe me, "I'm Your Baby Tonight" and "All The Man That I Need" still get the odd spin on AC and oldies' stations.

That makes me happy and sad. Happy those songs are getting some love, but sad that my high school music is on oldies stations.

I've heard "My All" on UAC stations and the like, but I can imagine that its overall recurrent play isn't notable.

Funnily enough, my local AC station plays "You're In Love" and "Release Me" often enough as recurrents. Sometimes I'll hear "Joyride" on the 90's channel on Sirius... But as for as my favorite Madonna single from that era "TUTBMP", I don't even recall the last time I heard it on the radio.

All the #1's can't become a regular radio classics. It's just impossible. Same will happen to Hold It Against Me by Britney in a year or two.

Oh I know, I rarely hear "Angel" by Madonna and that was a #1, although not my favorite. But I suspect it went to #1 because of its B-side...

Oh yes, that's interesting. Wonder if there are any other examples of B-side being the most popular song on a #1 single. California Love perhaps?

Madge's "Angel" peaked at No. 5. Sales of the 12-inch did not count toward its Hot 100 position, as "Into the Groove" fueled those. And, no, it doesn't get much recurrent airplay- neither does "Playground" (outside of when Delilah plays it every once in a while).

"Angel" hit #5, and was in direct competition at the time with "Crazy for You" and "Into the Groove". As the weakest song, it was lucky to get to the top 5!

On Radio & Records, "Angel" was only in its fifth chart week when "Into the Groove" debuted.; same thing on Billboard's Black Singles chart. Both the 7-inch "Angel" and 12-inch "Into the Goove" entered Variety's Singles Sales chart top 10 the same week ("Groove" eft "Angel" in the dust, though, spending six weeks at No. 1 vs. "Angel's" No. 7 peak).
Just some trivia for y'all. :)
In regards to airplay for current songs, Ke$ha's latest looks like it had a big first day.

Still no airplay update, if anyone's wondering. I'm guessing a new Rihanna song counts as a public holiday in this world.

Following Carly Rae Jepsen's lead of leaking a sex tape for extra sales?! :o But I'm sure he'll have some sort of Voice/Idol/X Factor performance or something relatively soon. I figured it'll be a performance. Where he'll perform at, IDK. He'll dance Gangnam Style's in Seoul almost naked if it goes #1.
