Looks like we're going to have another One More Night on our hands. Diamonds is probably spending its third week at #1 with astronomical AirPlay yet the public isn't that interested in it... It's #10 on iTunes right now. This will probably be another multiple #1-weeker due to radio rotating this to death.

It's #1 in streaming, though, and there's like 4 version of "Diamonds" charting on iTunes. The public is interested in it, and they were in "One More Night" too. (OMN was regularly in the top five of all three components for the longest time.)

Perhaps Die Young could pull a SAIKI and get a week or 2 at #1 with Christmas Sales?

Isn't both Bruno & Ke$ha ahead of Rihanna on iTunes? Both of them gaining up on her in airplay & Bruno's about to leap frog over K$ & will do the same to Rih pretty soon. I highly doubt 'Diamonds' will pull an 'OMN'.

AIWFCIY is eligible to chart on the hot 100 this year:
Mariah Carey's 1994 classic "All I Want for Christmas Is You" tops the inaugural chart this season. (The carol led the list for four of the five weeks in which the tally was tabulated a year ago.) "Christmas" logged 20 million in radio audience in the current chart's tracking week, ranking at No. 6 on the Holiday Airplay ranking. It rules the Holiday Digital Songs chart with 27,000 downloads sold (up 112%).
While the overall chart points for "Christmas" leave it shy of the Hot 100's top 50 this week, should the song accrue enough points in upcoming weeks to rank in the Hot 100's upper half, it, or any holiday title regardless of age that reaches such a points level, would be eligible to rank on the Hot 100. Hot 100 rules were adjusted at the beginning of the 2012 chart year to include all titles regardless of age should they rank in the top 50; tracks by Whitney Houston benefitted from the adjustment following her February passing, with, most noticeably, her 1992-93 Hot 100 No. 1 "I Will Always Love You" returning and soaring to No. 3 in March.

I just want AIWFCIY to end up in a better chart position than its original run. This song deserves it!

YES! Another step away from recurrency. Baby steps Billboard, baby steps. Glad they are allowing the Christmas songs to chart.

So, it'll take decades, but, given that certain Christmas songs tend to come on strong every year, could we be seeing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" (and perhaps some others) adding a week or so to their weeks-on-chart totals annually, thereby eventually challenging for longevity records?

I find longevity records outside of the top 10 to be kinda meaningless anyway.

It'll take so long that radio might not even be interested in playing those tracks by that time. Radio could change so much. Sales could change so much. The charts could change so much.

Could, yes, I agree, which is why I didn't assert that they will be doing so. However, I think it's an interesting possibility. The sales climate will almost definitely change, given that the perennial Christmas favorites have only sold so much in any given week already during recent years. As to radio, though... contributions from Bing Crosby and Andy Williams and Burl Ives and the like prove that, even though we may not buy our Christmas favorites over and over again, we certainly don't mind hearing them seasonally. The part that most intrigues me is the inclusion of streaming. Christmas music usually gets good ratings on radio, but people don't need to re-buy it each year. It will be interesting to see where streaming trends fall, as I think they could be what sway the charting prospects for many holiday songs while the chart is in its current incarnation. If nothing else, they will be an interesting indication of the tendency of listeners to actively seek out winter holiday music.

First lets see if any classics chart on the current Hot 100. Second, I dont see the need for this. The whole Whitney thing...I get it...the poor woman wont die every year...but these classic xmas songs get played every year.

The whole Whitney thing...I get it...the poor woman wont die every year...but these classic xmas songs get played every year. It's not about giving Whitney a hit because she died or giving people hits because of other tragic circumstances. It's about the Hot 100 reflecting the biggest songs of the moment whether or not they are current. I wasn't initially a fan of letting old songs re-chart, but it really is a more accurate way of measuring the most popular songs in the country. What does it matter if a song is 20 years old? If it becomes very popular for a week or so because it's played during the credits of some series finale, an artist passes away, or a Christmas classic is getting played as much as a current hit, that should be reflected on the charts. Either way, all of these circumstances should at least be treated equally.

It's #10 on iTunes right now. This will probably be another multiple #1-weeker due to radio rotating this to death. "Diamonds" is number one on streaming and there are several versions of the song charting on Itunes (which would help explain the lagging experienced by its highest-charting version, that still sits at #9 currently). I've been tracking its popularity bars (up until very recently when its other versions fell out of the top 100) and "Diamonds" has maintained a comfortable lead over both "Die Young" and "Locked Out Of Heaven" (songs in contention for the top spot). It is clear the public do "feel" the song. Streaming along should prove that, given it is the song that is being played most by users of streaming services tracked by Billboard.

Interesting to see how far this will go... Love the song and album but can't see this doing as well as WANEGBT.

This song is having a more "natural" chart/radio run instead of being forcefed to radio like WANEGBT was which tend to have shorter chart runs despite peaking pretty high.

I see "I Knew You Were Trouble" being bigger than "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together", ergo it's gonna be pretty effing massive.
