Based on nivekwriter1's predictions, #1 on the mongrel Hot Country Songs chart will "Sure Be Cool If You Did" due to its huge sales. What a way to debut on that chart.  I wonder if "The Moment I Knew" will be classified as Country so as to debut at #2 on that chart with zero airplay on country radio. I noticed "Better Dig Two" is not in the prediction. Wonder if it will contend for #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart. |

Another example of how Billboard is doing a disservice to its genre charts: songs can't crossover from other formats to a genre chart. Mumford & Sons' "I Will Wait" is currently getting significantly more country radio airplay than Taylor Swift's WANEGBT but isn't considered country so it's ineligible (though it would be in the top 5 on country under the new formula, which would also be ridiculous). The same with Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" when it charted on the lower end of the R&B chart. Unless a song becomes a huge crossover a la Kid Rock's "All Summer Long" we won't see the adventurousness of genre stations represented on their respective charts. That's a shame.

^ That's an excellent point, and something I wouldn't have thought of.. Will "I Will Wait"'s airplay be counted toward its "Country Songs" standings, but not its digital sales? That would make for a very strange and confusing ranking system..
I do realize that "I Will Wait" will chart on Country Airplay, before anyone points that out to me.

Is that her new break up song ?? I'm lost! "The Moment I Knew" is one of the three bonus tracks from the Target edition of Red. None of the tracks were available on iTunes of course, but for some reason, "The Moment I Knew" was put on iTunes this week. It's getting no push to any radio format, and there isn't any plans for it to be a single, so it really is just random. I'd say probably because of the breakup that they put it on there. It of course was made before Harry Styles broke up with Taylor, so it's not about him, but since most Taylor Swift songs are about breakups, it might as well be. I really like the bonus tracks, so I'm glad to see that at least one of them is available to download. |

Maybe cuz she dates super high profile people? Maybe cuz she sings about it? Or maybe because she gets into relationships and breaks up quickly, rather than just fooling around with different guys and not making it so serious. The latter being more accepted in this day and age I guess. |
