I'm going to Rockefeller Center Friday morning to see her on the Today show. Should be fun. I taped the Today Show and watched it when I got home from work today. Reba was great as usual, though it was kinda funny when she forgot the words to "I'm A Survivor". That was the only song she messed up on the other night at Rama. She's such a professional that it didn't slow her down at all. I'm jealous that you got to be there - it seemed like a cool event to see in person.

It was very cool.
She sounded great and was interacting with the audience the whole morning. I couldn't help but laugh when she screwed up the "I'm A Survivor" lyrics. LOL.
I read a report saying it was their biggest audience yet this season.
BTW, she perfomed "Secret" during one of the breaks, but it wasn't shown on the show. Perhaps that's the next single?

She dropped one today on R & R from 11 to 12, but moved up one from 14 to 13 on Billboard. I believe she is still gaining spins, hopefully we can be top 10 on R & R next week!

Excellent news! "Somebody" is now a bigger hit than IGTTM on all the major charts. She has a chance at top 10 next week on both major charts if she can keep her bullet up.
I hope "Secret"'s not the next single. I like it and all, but I think there are other songs on the album that have a much better shot at being hits.

I agree. What do you think should be the next singles released? Here are my picks, not necessarily in this order:
He Gets That From Me It Just Has To Be This Way Once You've Learned To Be Lonely Secret
I'm usually a fan of uptempo songs, but I just can't see either "Love Revival" or "Sky Full Of Angels" doing well on radio. I read in an interview that Reba and MCA Nashville were toying between IGTTM and LR as the lead-off. I think that they definately made the right choice!

"He Gets That From Me" is probably my favorite song on the album, though I might go with "It Just Has To Be This Way".

It's a toss-up between "He Gets That From Me" and "It Just Has To Be This Way" for me too. I think I'd go with HGTFM next, but both songs really have to be singles.
I'm surprised that they even contemplated releasing "Love Revival" as a single. I think it's the most un-radiofriendly song on the album. If she was going uptempo, I'd pick either "Sky Full Of Angels" or "My Sister", though I'm not sure how either track would do.

I don't think she needs an uptempo for the third single. "Somebody" wasn't really a full-on ballad IMO, so slowing it down with "He Gets That From Me" or "It Just Has To Be This Way" would work fine.

She should definitely be Top 10 next week assuming she can stay ahead of Billy Currington who she's currently gaining faster than.
She's behind Clay Walker on Mediabase, but has already passed him in both spins and audience so essentially she's #11. With John Michael Montgomery going recurrent, she'll move up to #10.

Ahhh!! This song is suffering due to R&R's crazy methodology. It's currently down 12-14 despite being ranked 11th in spins. "Hey Good Lookin'" has a higher audience, but Reba has 200 more spins. WTF.

Reba's been ahead of Clay Walker in spins, audience, and bullet for a few days now. I kept expecting her to pass him, and instead she FALLS two positions while Clay stays put? ??? WTF? I bet the Reba boards are pretty active right about now with choice words about Mediabase. I can't see any justification for what's going on.

I don't get that at all either. Only bright side is that her shot at a Billboard top 10 looks promosing. Passing Rascal Flatts puts her at 12, Clay Walker puts her at 11, and if she can pass SHeDAISY (very close in spins & Reba has the higher bullet), she'll get a top 10. But the whole Mediabase thing really is f'd up.
Other good news is that RTB has re-entered the Billboard top 200 at #188, and jumps to #32 on the country chart.

, and if she can pass SHeDAISY (very close in spins & Reba has the higher bullet), Well, I'm still pulling for SHeDAISY, who I'm a fan of, but Reba deserves to be higher than Clay, no doubt about that. Are we seeing some Good Ol' Boy stuff going on where Reba's getting scre... short-changed because she doesn't have the right gender?

Things are looking better today - she's passed back Brad Paisley & is back up to #13. Clay Walker's lost his bullet & Reba is #10 in current spins (meaning that if she can keep it up, she should be #10 this week on Billboard).

Does anyone know why Reba changed from performing "Moving Oleta" to "Somebody" at the ACMs? Was it just because the single is doing so well? I think that will be the next release..imo

She's said in an interview that "Moving Oleta" probably wouldn't get released because the subject matter is so dark. I hope they don't pick it, it's my least favorite on the album.

I think that will be the next release..imo Yeah, she sang it to push the song more since it was doing so well ... but the explanation on her site (posted by the actual songwriter of the song) said that she was never going to sing that in the first place (even though there were very credible reports, even a press release from MCA Nashville... ?). Anyway, I'm glad she sang Somebody though. And as for Moving Oleta being the next single, not a chance. I've found the interview where she discusses it. It's in an interview my friend did for his website. www.extremereba.com/memories/transcripts/transcripts.php?TranscriptID=5

Well SheDaisy and Clay Walker look done, and Reba's currently ranked #10 in spins, but still #14 on Mediabase. How disappointing. Hopefully she'll advance to #10 on Billboard regardless.

Way to go Reba! "Somebody" jumps from #13 to #10 on Billboard. If I'm not mistaken, this is her 53rd top 10, which puts her just one shy of Dolly Parton's record.

Reba McEntire Scores 53rd Top 10 Hit (Starstruck Entertainment) 05/15/2004 4:53 PM, ET
NASHVILLE, TN JUNE 15, 2004 -- Superstar Reba McEntire's current release, "Somebody" climbs to BILLBOARD's number 10 slot this week, making the single her 53rd top ten BILLBOARD hit!
McEntire heads the list for most top ten solo hits by a female on BILLBOARD's country charts, with 51. (McEntire's duets "The Heart Won't Lie" with Vince Gill and "Does He Love You?" with Linda Davis were also top ten hits).
"Somebody" is the second top twenty smash from McEntire's current ROOM TO BREATHE CD and follows the popular single, "I'm Gonna Take that Mountain." McEntire's concert tour in support of the album next stops in Grand Junction, CO on June 25.
This was directly from Reba's management. So I guess she has the most top 10 solo hits for a female.

Ah, so she tops the list of solo top 10 hits?
Why did they only list "The Heart Won't Lie" and "Does He Love You" though? "If You See Him/If You See Her" was Top 10, meaning she'd have 50 Top 10 solo hits, not 51.

Looking at Dolly's stats if you take out all of her collaborations, her number of Top 10s falls to 34. So, Reba has her topped by a long shot.
I counted them up and Reba does have 50 solo Top 10s, removing the aforementioned three songs.
Her closest competitor would be Loretta Lynn who has 51 Top 10s overall, but only 40 solo hits.
Obviously Reba's way ahead of the pack on this one. Also, with 53 Top 10s, she moves into a tie with Waylon Jennings for 10th on the all-time list:
1. Eddy Arnold (92) 2. George Jones (78) 3. Conway Twitty (75) 4. Merle Haggard (71) 5. George Strait (68) 6. Ernest Tubb (58) 7. Red Foley (56) 8. Dolly Parton (55) 9. Webb Pierce (54) 10. Waylon Jennings (53) 10. Reba McEntire (53)

Wow, looking at that list makes it pretty clear that Reba has earned her place as a country legend, no matter what else happens in her career. That's a really remarkable accomplishment.
Are you sure that Dolly has 55 top 10s? I remember reading in 1995 that she had 54 and I don't think that she's had a top 10 since then. My source could have been wrong, though. It's from the "50 Hottest Stars" issue of Country Weekly from 1995.

I'm using the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks book. It lists her with 55 and I re-counted them and it's correct. Some people may not count "I Will Always Love You" twice since it's only one song and hit #1 on two separate occasions. Billboard counts it though because it had two separate chart runs (actually three, but the third one didn't make the Top 10).

Ah OK, CW probably wasn't counting "I Will Always Love You" twice, when it really should be. Still, with a little luck, Reba may overtake Dolly with the Room To Breathe album. We'll probably have to wait for her next album (assuming radio will still play her then), but I have a feeling that Reba will eventually pass her. Not sure about the #1 race though - Dolly has 24 while Reba's at 21 and that's harder to make up than top 10s.

Here's something interesting from countrynation.com:
In the cover story of the new CMT Country Music Today magazine, Reba McEntire says that in the old days, an artist picked 20 songs, recorded 10, and released 3 as singles.
She explains that no one went deep into an album until Shania Twain released all those singles from "Come On Over."
Now, Reba has big plans for "Room to Breathe". She wants to release 8 singles from the CD -- and thanks Shania for being able to do so.
"Thank God for Shania. She changed that mindset. Leave it to Shania to shake things up," says Reba.
