This has been confirmed as the second single, going for adds January 12th. IMO, this is an excellent choice for the second single. It's a great story song, radio friendly without being corny. If she can't hit the top 5 with this, then she can't with anything from the album.
Perfect timing for a single release, too. Right after Christmas, when stations are just getting back to normal after playing Christmas music, plus a number of songs will be going recurrent. Good choice :)

It's a decent choice. My pick would have been "He Gets That From Me" or "It Just Has To Be This Way".
Hopefully this does well. I'll admit I don't have a lot of faith after what happened with IGTTM.

I was happy to hear that she was nominated this morning. The competition's tough, but I think she's got a shot at winning.

Things are looking good for this song. A week before she even goes for adds, "Somebody" moves 73-46* on Mediabase, with a bullet of +143. She also debuts at #55 on this week's Billboard chart.

I think that this just might be THE song for Reba, if you know what I mean. Great story song (should get a GREAT video with it--if we know Reba) and everybody can relate to this song. Great melody, lyrics, story--this is REBA'S song for sure!

"Somebody" had a big week this week, jumping from #55 up to #42. She benefited from Keith Urban, Montgomery Gentry & Chris Cagle all going recurrent, but it's still a good sign. She should easily make the top 40 next week, unless she slows down dramatically. I also was on the radio yesterday for this song. Every night my station plays a new song, and listeners have to call in deciding whether to "pick it" or "kick it". My call saying to "pick" the song made it onto the radio. The responses were 100% unanimous to pick the song.

She's up 3 more to #39 and is this week's only Billboard top 40 debut. The extra ACC spins should help her make nice gains in the next couple of weeks. She's also filming the video for this song right now.

I think Reba is my favorite voice in the industry today....it's still incredibly healing. IMO, this song is much better then her first single...I love the musical arrangement.

I was rooting for her along with Debra and Sarah Jessica, so I would've been glad with either of the three winning. At least Reba got a nod for her efforts, that speaks for itself I think. "Someday" is crawling up the Country chart.

This is just about done I fear. :'(
It's so sad to see radio put her out to pasture for no discernible reason. I can understand if the quality of her music had slipped, but it hasn't.

Why do you say it's almost done? The video will be released Friday...surely that will help. Man, I hope this isn't done. >:(

It's a good song. I don't know why it's stalling out. ??? Here are excerpts from the daily mediabase 7-day spins report, beginning with 2/14 at the bottom. Most recent at top... I wish she'd get the heck out of MCA. They don't know what the hell they're doing anymore. The label was the king of country music during the '90s, but they have lost it.
They've let the sales of superstars like Reba, George Strait, Vince Gill and Trisha Yearwood fade drastically. They let Lee Ann Womack's followup to a triple platinum smash falter with less than 300K sold. They have no one doing big numbers. Gary Allan gets good airplay, but his sales don't reflect it and Josh Turner is the only thing they have to be optimistic about recently. I say Reba should head for the door to a place where she's a priority. All of the people that helped her to become a superstar at MCA are no longer there.

I agree that MCA isn't the best place for right now. I think a smaller label (though not an independant) would probably be a much better fit. They could make her a priority again like she needs to be.
Did anybody else cath the premiere of the video for this song? It's a really well done video (one of Reba's best, and that's saying a lot). She plays cupid in the clip.

I just saw the video and she looks amazing. I haven't seen her looking this good in years. The song is flopping around still, switching between minimal gains and minimal losses.

The video seems to be helping airplay. It's getting some life back. Excerpts from Mediabase, most recent at top... When the percent change says -0%, it should round to -1%, and when the spins did not change, it should be 0%, not 1%.

The song does seem to have gotten a second wind. It's bullet is currently +187. The four songs ahead of her all have bullets below 100 and are less than 100 spins ahead of her, meaning she could conceivably move up 4 spots within the next few days.

I don't know what to think about this song. It goes from having a larger bullet (like today) to minimal losses within a couple of days. If, and that's a big 'if', it can keep a similar bullet through week's end it could hit the Top 20.

I noticed the same boom-or-bust history of this song, too. Since the middle of February I can count at least five times "Somebody" has lost its bullet, only to bounce back each time, often to 3-digit gains. For instance, on March 9th it had a +238 bullet, but by March 16th it was -78, and then it was +190 on March 23rd. It's almost as if Somebody Out There is watching over this song. ;)
