I wish that were true, but I think they'll stick Shania in over Reba.

Well, I'm still going to try!! Let's pull together and get this up there!! Somebody deserves to be #1! By the way does anyone know what the third single off of Room To Breathe is?

No official word on the next single, although ratethemusic.com had a survey about "He Gets That From Me" and "Sky Full of Angels." MCA may have been testing the water with these two singles and getting response. Who knows... MCA is usually slower at getting new singles out for Reba after another has run its course. It may not be for a few weeks after "Somebody's" peak that we'll hear about a new single.

I wish that were true, but I think they'll stick Shania in over Reba. Personally, I hope that Shania is put in there. This is my hope: Martina Sara Terri Reba Shania Hopefully they'll still make Gretchen go through the Horizon Award first, instead of jumping her straight to Female Vocalist... but I'm not quite sure they'll do that.

I agree. Although, even if they put Shania in there, you know she will lose(It is Nashville remember). Gretchen is too new to get the FOTY.

Gretchen will be in there. Bet on it.
Frankly she should be there. She's outsold pretty much the other four ladies combined so far this year.

"Somebody" enters the Top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 50. Her second highest peak on that chart. Her biggest Hot 100 hit is "What Do You Say" which got to #31.

Reba moves from 7 to 4 in R&R and 7 to 3 in Billboard this week.
WOW -- Honestly, if Kenny and Tim weren't dominating with their mega-singles, I could have seriously seen Reba go #1. But it ain't gonna happen... but I'm also not complaining! :)

Wow - I'm thrilled that "Somebody" has made the top 3. Only Gretchen Wilson, Terri Clark and Sara Evans have done that so far this year. Unfortunately, I think this may be as high as she goes, with Tim & Kenny running away like they are, but this has been an incredible run.

And she matches the peak of "I'm A Survivor". Looks like she can't get past #3 anymore though, with IAS and "What Do You Say" stalling there and "I'll Be" peaking at #4.
Regardless, it's amazing that she followed up IGTTM with a big hit.

This song won't quit. Currently the third greatest gainer with +420 behind Keith Urban and George Strait.
She's widening her lead on "Whiskey Lullaby" and closing the gap on Kenny Chesney at #2.

She moves up to #3 on R&R this week as the second greatest gainer, behind George Strait.
Nice going, Reba! :)

Today she passed the 4000 spin mark and still has a big bullet of +458 at #3. Her gain is only 30 spins less than George Strait who's the greatest gainer. Kenny's gains have gone back up now to +281 though, so it'll be really tough for her to pass him.

Call-out results must be driving this song's current surge. From countrystars.com:
REBA'S TOP 3 SONG BEST TESTING FEMALE HIT Right now Reba McEntire's "Somebody" is the best testing female song in the country. And it has radio consultants calling it her best record in a decade, "It's the most powerful Reba song in a decade," Jaye Albright, and Joel Raab saying "This is her biggest hit in the last 10 years. It is great to have Reba back on the radio."
NOBODY IS MORE THRILLED ABOUT THIS THAN REBA - she tells Country Weekly in the upcoming Aug. 3rd issue, "There’s something about being away from the politics and the routine and the grind of the music business that ended up being refreshing to me,” Reba tells Country Weekly. “By getting away from it all for a while, it all feels fresh and new again. The people in country music have been very good to me,” she raves. “Country music has put food on my family’s table for years. You just don’t forget something like that.”

Is a #1 still out of the question? I know she's nipping at the heels of Kenny and Tim only gained +5 today... if Reba keeps gaining +300-400 this week... could it happen?

Last night for the second time in a week, "Somebody" was the song of the day on the syndicated show AfterMidnite. They tally requests for the preceding 24-hour period and the song that gets the most requests is the song of the day.

+628 this morning! :o :o The next biggest bullet is Josh Gracin at +398, followed by George Strait at +390. This takes Reba's spin total to 4313, exactly 200 spins behind Kenny Chesney wjo's only gaining 186 spins right now. This also puts her within 619 spins of Tim McGraw, who's gain is 44 spins. If these trends hold, Reba will be #1 in a week! What an incredible turn of events!

+793 as of this morning, she's 44 behind Kenny now, and 403 behind Tim, who seems to have slowed down. This is the little song that could! If Tim declines and she keeps going at today's pace, she could realistically be a contender for #1. I wonder if a song that has taken this long (comparing other songs in the top 40 chart run only) to get this far, and if one has had this big of a surge at what should've been the end of it's life. Go Reba, it's a great song, can't wait to hear more from you!

this is MCA's "Last push" to try to get the single to #1 probably. We saw this with Columbia and Montgomery Gentry last month as they got a +700 week to grab a week at #1 before they started to free fall. Lyric Street also did this with RF's Mayberry to get them a week at#1.
