Doesn't seem to be helping the album much though.... Again, very like Monica's current single on Urban.

AS OF THIS MORNING, SHE PASSED UP KENNY CHESNEY
She's gained almost 800 spins, and she's about 50 ahead of KC, 300 behind TM, go Reba! (although, i wish KC could hit #1 too)

I love Reba, but this bullet is ridiculous. It seems too big to be the result of anything other than payola, but I'm a big fan of payola.

Yeah, it does make me a little upset that they are fighting so hard to get this to the top. Everyone in the industry knows its from payola... there's no way you couldn't think that with the large increases it's getting.
She's +863 today, with 4745 total spins, and Tim has +61 with 4994 total spins, putting Reba only 249 spins behind Tim. If she keeps gaining like this next week, she'll be #1.

Good Lord!! I go away for a few days and come back to this?! I could care less if it's payola. Go Reba! 23rd #1 coming up!

Plus with the comments regarding this song's call out and it being her best record in 10 years, I don't automatically think this is payola.

So why is nobody buying her album? Hell if I know. The album has been boosted by the song, but it hasn't sent it rocketing into the country top 10. Also, it's difficult to see what type of affect it might have had specifically since the song has been getting airplay since January. It's been spread out over so long, not an isolated period.

if you look at most of the greatest gainers for Somebody this week, and just about all of them are Citidel Stations. Did MCA throw some money to Ciditel???

The spin gain is up to +961. She could be over 1000 tomorrow. :o
She's only 199 behind Tim, so I'd think #1 is a foregone conclusion.

They never revert back to zero. Today's numbers are Sunday 7/18 through Saturday 7/24. Tomorrow's numbers will be Monday 7/19 through Sunday 7/25. Tomorrow the chart week starts over though. It looks like she's locked up #1 for next week. *fingers crossed*

4843 <--this number is locked 961 <--this number starts over? In a sense I guess. None of that 961 spin gain will be counted as a gain next week. Her gain next week will be based on how many spins she is above 4843.

Reba's only chance to hit #1 is next week. Once this starts falling, it will sink like a stone, while Tim will probably hang around the 4,500-5,000 spin mark until his album comes out August 24.

The only thing bothering me is that Reba's audience is 2 million lower than Tim's. I wonder if they would let her pass?

ROFL. How did they figure payolaing overnight spins could get the song to #1 o nthe country chart? Her audience is more than 5 million behind Tim McGraw's. If you look at KRST, her audience is lower than their #2 song despite getting 32% more spins.
6 1 REBA MCENTIRE Somebody 62 44 18 0.153 3 2 TOBY KEITH Whiskey Girl 47 46 1 0.1779
What I don't understand is how blatant payola can be ignored. 4 of the top 6 leaders are Citadel stations.

She's only 46 spins behind Tim. She should be #1 tomorrow. Then she'll just have to hold on through the week.
How much of this is payola though? There's no way all 1100 of her gain is payola. Even without it she'd likely be the greatest gainer by a decent amount.

She's only 46 spins behind Tim. She should be #1 tomorrow. No, because she's trailing 4.8 million in audience. Unless you know something I don't.

No, because she's trailing 4.8 million in audience. Unless you know something I don't. How do you even know how the chart is made up? More audience doesn't mean a higher ranking. It's some combo of those two and possibly a number of other things no one knows.

Can anyone recall a song with bullets this big inside the Top 5 or Top 3? Maybe Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten?" I can't think of anything gaining over 1000 spins outside of the first weeks from the regulars like Toby, Tim, Kenny, etc.

I think the formula combines spins, audience, and gains. I have noticed that some songs pass just because of larger gains. Go Reba!

Go Reba go!!!
I know that on our local call-in request show on Saturday evening that there were so many requests for Somebody that they played twice in the time I was listening (from 6 - 11). I think maybe Reba's street team or whatever she calls it must be out in full force working, too.

How do you even know how the chart is made up? Obviously I don't. But like you said, audience is probably a factor. But you sound so sure Reba will be #1 tomorrow so I had to ask. If you look at the weekly charts, it seems to me that it's ranked mostly by audience, and the only times when a song is ranked higher than another with larger audience is when it has A Lot more spins than the other. Anyway I once plugged audience, spins, gain and ranking into a regression equation and audience accounted for most of the variation, but it wasn't a perfect fit.

I never assume anything. I've seen songs with lower spins and audience ranked above those with higher spins and audience. I don't give this chart much credence anyway since I don't know how it's compiled. If she even maintains a quarter of her gains on next week's chart, she'll be #1 on Billboard, the country chart that matters, anyway.

Reba's best shot at #1 would be on THIS week's Billboard chart as their chart week is Mon-Sun, while RR is Sun-Sat. However KKBQ isn't on Billboard's panel anymore so those spins wont count on BB.
Somebody will probably be -1000 by this time next week unless MCA trys this again this week
