The interesting part of the article was the description of his work week. Doesn't sound like much of a life to me! Yes. I was told working at BB is exhausting and the pay sucks. i have to say that the pay part of that wont be true in my case. I will be working for it though.

Can someone explain to me how I Knew You Were Trouble. has been #4 for the last two weeks when it's not available on streaming sites and has sat in the bottom half of the iTunes and AmazonMP3 top 10 (closer to #10 than to #5, no less)? No shade, I'm just not getting it.

The #1 airplay ranking might help a little

She should most likely fall this week, she's starting to lose a lot of AI, plus she should also be out of the top 10 digital sales for good now.

The songs below it have a bigger gap between their sales/streaming/airplay than it does.

The interesting part of the article was the description of his work week. Doesn't sound like much of a life to me! The "methodology" is a straight up mess. The internet is not the Hot 100. When the number of subscribers to streaming services reaches the number of people who are still legally purchasing music, then they should give these new methods consideration. All this is going to do is increase novelty bullshit.

No shade, I'm just not getting it. The inclusion of Youtube in the Hot 100 means that a song not being up on Spotify, etc. isn't such a huge disadvantage anymore. The same has happened with Rihanna's current hits (Stay, Pour It Up and Loveeeeeee Song) which are also not on Spotify. They all had very big jumps in the chart the week Youtube was added. Now the on-demand services only make up a minority of the streaming component of the Hot 100, so songs not on Spotify now aren't disadvantaged as much. I hope this makes sense.

No shade, I'm just not getting it. I was wondering the same thing, until I realized it was over 3 million in streaming due to Youtube, just about at the same level as "Stay". So when I did all the math I came up with more than 34,000 chart points, which puts it at #4. It will undoubtedly fall this week though as its' airplay and sales continue to drop.

Indeed, WYS. Why would the label move on to "Mirrors" when the first single is still doing great in airplay?

^Surely even they would have to agree that a current top five placement at iTunes indicates that at least some people are liking it.

^Surely even they would have to agree that a current top five placement at iTunes indicates that at least some people are liking it. But not enough people, because JT's lead single from his first album in seven years, with the amount of airplay it has, should be #1 with a 75% lead. #5? FLOP! Of course I think S&T is doing fine, but some that are not fans of it predicted it would flop and now that it hasn't, there is a lot of creativity involved in discounting its success and "moving the bars" so they don't have to acknowledge its popularity. See S&T's thread in the CHR/Pop section...

If you've seen the thread for 'Suit & Tie' in the pop forum you may recognise the sarcasm in some of the above posts. ;)

The fact that the song of this thread is 'Suit and Tie' and not 'Harlem Shake' means two things to me:
- people like this song - people have finally moved on from the youtube thing
both are good things

I still have not budged from my belief that BB screwed up, but I also don't believe the HOT 100 is the perfect barometer for music popularity. As for "Suit & Tie" I feel it is one of those songs that increases in popularity the more people are exposed to it whether it be via radio or SNL (if Itunes sales are any indication, his performance Saturday night must have been pretty good). It will likely not go to #1, but #3 is not out of the question.
