OMG if Katy is already at 181 AI and just keeps blowing up more and more every day after barely 6 weeks, this is DEF. looking like it also may break Mimis WBT#s (the second song to do in less than one year)!! 8^o. It's positively getting Blurred Lines #s (even without Urban) lol! Dunno if it'll beat Blurred Lines (or even WBT) but these updates aint playin and if even if she beats WBT (but not Blurred Lines), she'll at least have the record for the female with the biggest radio hit ever.

So I'm guessing there will not be quite enough airplay for Britney to debut this week, right?

oh, gut feeling is Blurred Lines is gonna start to free fall soon down the Hot 100 (WAY sooner than I expected). If not this week def. next week. I figured it would eventually peak but didnt realize both sales and airplay would just 'pop' like it did lol. Guess the balloon was blown up so big- which is why the 'popping' effect is as big as it is. While the song had a very slow burn out rate for me (and I think for others) just within the last few weeks, its finally got suuuper tired. Thats about when the fall started. Im now pretty sure now Robin is about to exit the top 2 (which this week be Miley and Katy) then next week Katy, possibly Miley and at least one of two others (Lorde, Avicii, or maybe Britney).

Yah, not enough airplay for Spears' track to debut on the Hot 100. Perhaps Hot 100 Airplay, if it sees another big gain from today.

^Hmmm. Yes, but not a full day, correct? Depending on the number, that is possible, but it would have to be a significant U.S. number, no?
When Katy Perry unleashed "Roar" on a Sunday, it didn't have any streaming from that last day of the tracking week (if I recall).

I'd rather Britney have another Top 5 debut on the Hot 100 next week or maybe she could debut at #100 this week.

And now it's time once again for a look back at the Billboard Top 10 of exactly 55, 50, 45, and 40 years ago this week.
September 22, 1958 (for week ending September 28)
TW LW WK 01 01 08 Nel Blu Dipinto Di Blu (Volare) - Domenico Modugno (5 weeks at #1) 02 02 08 Bird Dog - The Everly Brothers 03 04 06 It's All In The Game - Tommy Edwards 04 03 08 Little Star - The Elegants 05 06 08 Rock-in Robin - Bobby Day 06 05 08 Just A Dream - Jimmy Clanton And His Rockets 07 09 07 Tears On My Pillow - Little Anthony & The Imperials 08 10 07 Susie Darlin' - Robin Luke 09 07 08 Born Too Late - Poni-Tails 10 14 07 Devoted To You - The Everly Brothers
September 28, 1963
TW LW WK 01 01 08 Blue Velvet - Bobby Vinton (2 weeks at #1) 02 05 05 Sally, Go Round The Roses - The Jaynetts 03 12 05 Be My Baby - The Ronettes 04 04 09 Heat Wave - Martha & The Vandellas 05 02 09 My Boyfriend's Back - The Angels 06 06 07 Then He Kissed Me - The Crystals 07 11 07 Wonderful! Wonderful! - The Tymes 08 08 07 Mickey's Monkey - The Miracles 09 10 07 Cry Baby - Garnet Mimms & The Enchanters 10 03 10 If I Had A Hammer - Trini Lopez
The Beatles scored their 16th Hot 100 #1 when "Hey Jude" moved to the top of the chart the week of September 28, 1968. It went on to be the #1 Billboard song of 1968 and one of their biggest hits ever, staying on top for nine weeks; which at the time was as long as anybody had ever topped the Hot 100. Out of the over 200 songs that had topped the Hot 100 up until this point, only two others; "Mack The Knife" in 1959, and "Theme from 'A Summer Place'" in 1960 had also held the #1 position for nine weeks. Obviously, this put the Beatles in very select company at the time.
September 28, 1968
TW LW WK 01 03 03 Hey Jude - The Beatles (1 week at #1) 02 01 06 Harper Valley P.T.A. - Jeannie C. September 29, 1973
TW LW WK 01 02 10 We're An American Band - Grand Funk (1 week at #1) 02 01 12 Let's Get It On - Marvin Gaye 03 07 09 Half-Breed - Cher 04 04 09 Loves Me Like A Rock - Paul Simon 05 03 15 Delta Dawn - Helen Reddy 06 08 07 Higher Ground - Stevie Wonder 07 05 12 Say, Has Anybody Seen My Sweet Gypsy Rose - Dawn featuring Tony Orlando 08 10 12 That Lady (Part 1) - Isley Brothers 09 11 10 My Maria - B.W. It's going to reach its peak pretty soon because it took off so fast. Hopefully it'll hang around there a while, but her song doesn't appeal to as many formats as BL so it won't get that high.

"California Gurls" came 15 weeks before Teenage Dream, with "Teenage Dream" coming 5 weeks before.
"Roar" was released 11 weeks before PRISM. Using the same schedule as last era, this would put the second single being released the week before the album, which is likely. It might even happen sooner as "Roar" took off much faster than "California Gurls," which still came at a pretty fast pace.

So "Wrecking Ball" was the most streamed track on Spotify last week. I'm sure that means it'll be #1 on the on-demand chart too.
Spotify Top 10 - week ending September 15 1. Wrecking Ball - 2,510,000 (+18) 2. Royals - 2,052,000 (+1) 3. Wake Me Up - 1,945,000 (-2) 4. Roar - 1,930,000 (-2) 5. Hold On, We're Going Home - 1,605,000 (=) 6. Holy Grail - 1,490,000 (-2) 7. Applause - 1,225,000 (=) 8. Blurred Lines - 1,168,000 (-2) 9. We Can't Stop - 1,139,000 (-1) 10. Radioactive - 1,070,000 (-1)
It "only" got an 293% increase, which I think is quite impressive. Meanwhile it's #3 in Sweden, #2 in Norway, #3 in Australia, #2 in New Zealand.

As a refresher, Spotify info (and others like it) is based on customers who have a paid subscription? I suppose free-trial subscriptions also would count? There probably is a limit one can have the free trial, though.

2. KATY PERRY – Roar: 185.687 (+4.423) ... and it passed the peak AI I predicted. Idk how. MILEY CYRUS – Wrecking Ball: 23.785 (+3.210) Monster. :'( Slaying sales, YouTube, on-demand streaming and radio. She's indeed the Jesus of the '10s.
