I'm curious in seeing where Roar will end up on the Year-End chart since its accumulated so many points in such a short time. Could she possibly make the top 25? Seems likely, "Someone Like You" by Adele was #24 on the 2011 year-end chart, and it started smashing right after the VMA's performance (August 28).

Dark Horse selling more than Work Bitch. I mean I love Britney to the maximum over Katy (or most people) but in this instance the better song truly won.

2nd week at number 1 for Wrecking Ball!

"Wrecking Ball" dropped more in sales than I expected, so the top 2 songs could end up within 5% of each other. It will come down to streaming and the mix between on-demand and passive. I used to think YouTube views were counted as passive streams, but after the success of "Best Song Ever" and "Wrecking Ball" I have changed my mind.

Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' Spends Second Week Atop Hot 100
By Gary Trust, New York | September 25, 2013 1:46 PM EDT
The song narrowly holds off Katy Perry's former leader 'Roar,' which rises to No. 1 on Radio Songs. Lorde, meanwhile, tops Digital Songs with 'Royals' and Britney Spears' 'Work B**ch!' begins on the Hot 100 at No. 12
Miley Cyrus holds at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Wrecking Ball." The song wins a close race with Katy Perry's former two-week topper "Roar," which takes over atop the Radio Songs chart. Lorde, meanwhile, climbs to No. 1 on Digital Songs with "Royals," which remains at No. 3 on the Hot 100.
Let's look closer at the numbers for this week's top 10.
Last week, "Ball" bounded 22-1 on the Hot 100 as it soared 21-1 on Streaming Songs with a 1,565% gain to 36.5 million streams in the chart's tracking week, according to Nielsen BDS, following the song's Sept. 9 video premiere. This week, the ballad stays atop Streaming Songs but with a 61% loss to 14.3 million. "Ball" concurrently leads the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart for a second week with a 4% decrease to 2.7 million.
"Ball" drops 1-3 on Digital Songs with a 36% fall to 301,000, according to Nielsen SoundScan; last week, it rocketed 10-1 with 477,000, a 312% rise. Airplay, meanwhile, is building strongly for the track, as it flies 59-31 on Radio Songs with 38 million all-format audience impressions (up 90%), according to BDS.
While it reigns for a second frame, "Ball" deflates by 50% in overall Hot 100 chart points. As Perry's "Roar" (2-2) is down by 8%, the songs are separated by just 2% in points. Last week, "Ball" boasted an almost two-to-one points lead.
Still, "Roar" becomes Perry's sixth No. 1 on Radio Songs (2-1), charging ahead by 8% to 159 million. At seven weeks, it's her fastest-leaping leader, besting the nine-week flights of "E.T." (featuring Kanye West) and "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)" "Roar" completes the quickest climb to No. 1 since fun.'s "We Are Young" (featuring Janelle Monae) also soared to the summit in seven frames (April 21, 2012).
"Roar" holds at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (7.3 million, down 19%) and Digital Songs (301,000, down 9%).
Perry additionally debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 17 with "Dark Horse" (featuring Juicy J), a preview song from her album "Prism," due Oct. 22. It begins on Digital Songs at No. 4 (194,000).
Lorde's "Royals" ranks at No. 3 on the Hot 100 for a third week while jumping 3-1 on Digital Songs (307,000, up 17%). The 16-year-old New Zealander is the first solo female to send a debut entry to No. 1 on the sales tally since Carly Rae Jepsen ruled for eight weeks beginning last June with "Call Me Maybe." Ke$ha ("TiK ToK," 2010), Lady Gaga ("Just Dance," 2009) and Perry ("I Kissed a Girl," 2008) were the three prior women to dominate Digital Songs on their first tries.
"Royals" advances 6-4 on Streaming Songs (5.5 million, up 11%) and gains by 17% to pass the 100-million audience barrier (104 million), despite slipping 5-6 on Radio Songs. The track crowns
Alternative Songs for a seventh week, extending its mark as the longest-leading No. 1 by a lead female in the chart's 25-year history. "Royals" tops Hot Rock Songs for a fourth week and blasts into the Pop Songs top 10 (13-5).
Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" pushes 5-4 on the Hot 100. It's up by 12% in streaming (to 4.9 million) and 15% in airplay (to 101 million). The track heads up Dance/Electronic Songs for a third week.
Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell) descends 4-5 on the Hot 100, ceding the top spot on Radio Songs (1-2) to "Roar" after an 11-week command (152 million, down 13%). Still, it leads R&B Songs for a 19th week and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a 16th frame.
Jay Z's "Holy Grail" (featuring Justin Timberlake) holds at No. 6 on the Hot 100, despite lifting by 6% in airplay to 124 million. It rules Rap Songs for an eighth week.
Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" (featuring Majid Jordan) reaches a new peak on the Hot 100 (8-7), claiming top Airplay Gainer honors as it pounces 8-5 on Radio Songs (106 million, up 22%). It also gains on Digital Songs (8-8; 150,000, up 4%) and Streaming Songs (15-12; 3.1 million, up 10%).
Lady Gaga's "Applause" dips 7-8 on the Hot 100 but roars to the Radio Songs top 10 (18-9; 73 million, up 23%). The lead single from "ARTPOP," due Nov. 11, is her 10th top 10 on the airplay tally.
Lana Del Rey & Cedric Gervais' No. 6-peaking "Summertime Sadness" rebounds 10-9 on the Hot 100, aided by a 7% gain in airplay (to 94 million), while Capital Cities' "Safe and Sound," which rose to No. 8 four weeks ago, returns to the top 10 (12-10).
As projected last week, Britney Spears soars onto the Hot 100 at No. 12 with "Work B**ch!" The lead single from her eighth studio set, due Dec. 3, launches at No. 6 on Digital Songs (174,000) and No. 28 on Streaming Songs (1.8 million), while climbing 69-58 in its second week on Radio Songs (21 million, up 31% in its first full week of airplay).
Visit Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 26), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 in its entirety and Digital Songs, Radio Songs, Streaming Songs and On-Demand Songs will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday. The latest charts will also appear in the next issue of Billboard magazine (on sale on Friday, Sept. 27).

Close race this week.
Spears' single debuted in the same spot that "Scream & Shout" did, yes? Don't know if it will go on to do as well as that one, but we'll see. It should get a boost when the video drops.

Time for my Hot 100 questions! -Will "Hold On, We're Going Home" go top 5 next week? -Will "All Me" debut in the top 10? -Can "Royals" go #1 next week? If not, can it at least hit #2?

"Roar" was done in by a surprisingly large 19% drop in streaming. When on-demand streaming was introduced in March 2012, there was concern that movement within the top 10 would slow considerably. The introduction of YouTube streams seems to have sped things up again and made it very hard to predict how long a song will spend at #1. For people lke me who don't really care who is #1 but like lots of change, the HOT100 is in a good place right now.

Rhythmic: 35 = DRAKE All Me f/2 Chainz... 693 +21 184 +7 6.767 +0.082 Urban: 27 = DRAKE All Me f/2 Chainz... 768 +15 77 -16 5.847 +0.101 Not huge by any means but it's got a decent amount of airplay. It will likely get decent/good streaming numbers, too.

It was better then than it is now. How so? the music sounded better. Now its just stale hot ac records moving up and down the charts that people only mildly have an affection for save for blurred lines at its height in popularity.

Eminem’s "Berzerk" drops from #8 to #11. Digital sales rank: #9 (147K)
Ylvis' viral novelty smash "The Fox" jumps from #25 to #13 in its third week…
Luke Bryan's "That's My Kind Of Night" dips from #15 to #16 in its sixth week. It's #1 on Hot Country Songs for the sixth week. That’s the longest run at #1 for a single by a male solo artist since Keith Urban's "Better Life" in the fall of 2005.
"Lolly" by Maejor Ali featuring Juicy J & Justin Bieber debuts at #19. It's from Maejor Ali's upcoming debut album, Something About B.M. (his real name is Brandon Green.) Incidentally, put this song title together with *NSYNC's "Pop" (#19 in 2001) and you have Lil Wayne's "Lollipop" (#1 in 2008).
AWOLNATION's "Sail" jumps from #22 to #20 in its 55th week.
This is one of the biggest sleeper hits in pop history. The song was released in May 2010. It first entered Hot Digital Songs at #198 in the week ending May 8, 2011. It has sold 3,822,000 copies—and it got there the hard way: It has never sold even 80K copies in any one week. (Its tally this week, 77K, is its highest to date.)
"Same Love" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis featuring Mary Lambert, which drops from #19 to #25 in its 28th week, tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. It's more than halfway to matching Lady Gaga's equally gay-friendly "Born This Way," which has sold 3,932,000. "White Walls," the fourth chart hit from the duo's hit album The Heist, debuts at #100.
"Crooked Smile" by J. Cole featuring TLC jumps from #36 to #27 in its 14th week. It's TLC's highest-charting hit since "Unpretty," a #1 hit from September 1999…
OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" jumps from #38 to #28 in its 14th week…
Billy Currington's "Hey Girl" jumps from #45 to #39 in its 18th week…
Bruno Mars' "Gorilla" jumps from #61 to #50 in its fourth week.
Justin Timberlake's "TKO" debuts at #54. It's from The 20/20 Experience 2 of 2, which is due Sept. 30. The great Teddy Pendergrass reached #44 in 1981 (the year Timberlake was born) with a song titled "Love T.K.O."
"A Light That Never Comes" by Linkin Park/Steve Aoki debuts at #65. This is from Linkin Park's remix album, Recharged, which is due Oct. 29…
"We Were Us" by Keith Urban & Miranda Lambert jumps from #80 to #68 in its second week…
Daughtry's "Waiting For Superman" debuts at #70. It's from the band's fourth studio album, Baptized, which is due Nov. 19.
Imagine Dragons' "Monster" debuts at #78. This is from the Infinity Blade III soundtrack. (That's an action role-playing game, not a movie.)…
"Show Me" by Kid Ink featuring Chris Brown debuts at #82. It's from Kid Ink's second full-length album, My Own Lane. (There was a song called "Show Me" in the greatest Broadway musical of all time, My Fair Lady, but I'm guessing this is a different song.)
Two singles by Dutch DJs enter the chart this week. Martin Garrix's "Animals" debuts at #86. This is a non-album single by the 17-year-old DJ. "This Is What It Feels Like" by Armin Van Buuren featuring Trevor Guthrie debuts at #96. It's from the producer/DJ's fifth studio album, Intense.
Gavin DeGraw’s "Best I Ever Had" debuts at #88. It's from his fifth studio album, Make A Move, which is due Oct. 15…
Parmalee's "Carolina" debuts at #93. This is a remix of a song that first appeared on the country group's 2008 EP, Complicated. The group includes brothers Matt Thomas and Scott Thomas…
Ellie Goulding's "Burn" re-enters the chart at #99. The song has climbed as high as #53.
