Katy will have pretty stiff competition with The Monster, Counting Stars, and even Timber though. Capitol might have to resort to the cheap 2010/2011 discount/remix tactics to get that #1. Lol @ Unconditionally having a chance at top 5, let alone number 1. I still think it'll probably miss the top 10. Unless the video is really, really good. Dark Horse on the other hand would be top 5 by now, number 1 with a video. Unconditionally still hasn't outpeaked it...

The video alone will propel it top 10, if not top 5. Poor callout scores came out last week yet this is still going strong on radio, so clearly they're not going to drop it anytime soon. No way this misses top 10, unfortunately.

Oh right, streaming. I keep forgetting that's a component now... There's no way it'll miss the top 10 if it gets anything similar to Roars video streams. With a small digital boost it could get top 5 for a week, maybe... But I don't see this rising much more on iTunes, and that combined with horrible callout scores- I don't think radio will take it much further.

Hopefully "Unconditionally" will be another top 5 for Katy. :)
lol "Mirrors" destroyed TBTN and TKO, such a big airplay hit, I wonder how much it has sold.

Does anybody with access to the airplay website have the total current airplay of Sail and Radioactive?

I don't think Unconditionally will get to #1. I just think if it was heading for #1 it'd be higher on iTunes right now. Like with Royals, it was really high on iTunes for its airplay, even in its early days. Maybe #2 like Wide Awake (her label aren't going to be "desperate" to get it to #1). I think Royals will be #1 for a bit longer, then The Monster for the rest of the year. I think "The Monster" domination is starting next week.

Whilst I think Unconditionally is underperforming, it's also a good strategy to leave Dark Horse for the third single (if this is what they're doing). Dark Horse will definitely go top 10 and even higher with a possible remix. The only question is will radio be a little hesitant after playing Unconditionally "too much". Love to speculate about these things

It'll be leading "Royals" by a very nice margin in sales, and it's not that far behind it in airplay or streaming now.

Where can iTunes sales statistics be found at? ( I know exact numbers aren't available) I'm just curious how far ahead The Monster is.

Not every single has to hit number one. As long as its a solid hit and doesn't interfere with the rest of the era everything will be fine. With what looks to be a great video and an AMAs performance on the horizon, "Unconditionally" is poised to do quite well. I think top 10 is very realistic and even a top 5 is possible. There are other smashes on the album to come (e.g. "Dark Horse") so all is good for now.

Only 4 of the artists in that 1998 top ten would ever be seen back in the top ten again with another single (and shockingly, Lauryn Hill wasn't one of them). Not a lot of longevity coming out of that era; the chart change should have come much sooner.
