Why the person who wrote that article tries to diminish the success of Timber? Give me everything stayed just one on top because Adele and LMFAO's songs tried to block it, but Pitbull didn't let them to do that. Why he or she doesn't mention that The monster fell to 12 on itunes after spending 4 weeks on the billboard hot 100. Why he doesn't mention that Timber which is older than 'the monster' is staying in the top 3 showing more longevity and consistency? sorry.I will tell him to apologize to you for this! Please forgive him.please...

Or maybe he's just presenting an interesting fact. This is somewhat of a chart rarity and the first time since Can't Hold Us pulled this off. It's not necessarily a negative thing - but you think it is for some reason. Not everything is personal (though if the writer posts on Pulse, it probably is personal).

I'm guessing no more than 5-6 weeks for Dark Horse...but you never know! (Love the song though!)

Chart WatchWill update it later. Two things stand out when you look over Perry's hit discography. First, she's been solo or in the lead position on every one of her top 10 hits. Unlike many artists, she didn't fatten her tally with featured credits. Second, when she hits, she really hits. Of her 13 top 10 hits, only one ("Waking Up In Vegas") failed to make the top five. (It peaked at #9.) Eleven have made the top three. "Dark Horse" will almost certainly become her 12th song to make the top three. SHADE!Deserved shade IMO.

Yah, and it wasn't directed at just one act. music.yahoo.com/blogs/music-news/chart-watch-where-beyonce-top-10-hit-010753435.htmlChart Watch: Where’s Beyonce’s Top 10 Hit?By Paul Grein - Yahoo Music - Jan. 15, 2014 Beyonce's fifth album is one of the biggest success stories of the past couple of years. It sold 1.5 million copies in its first five weeks. But the album has yet to spawn a top 10 single. Three songs from the album are listed on this week's Hot 100. "Drunk In Love" (featuring Jay Z) dips from #15 to #16 in its fourth week. (It has climbed as high as #12.) "XO" jumps from #54 to #50 in its fourth week. "Partition" is this week's second-highest new entry at #90. You may remember that none of the singles from Beyonce's 2011 album "4" cracked the top 10. Beyonce's last top 10 hit as a lead artist was "Sweet Dreams," which reached #10 in November 2009. I imagine that one of the aforementioned songs will do the trick. Stay tuned. The big news on this week's Hot 100 is the rise to the top five of "Dark Horse" by Katy Perry featuring Juicy J. I covered that, and the rest of the top 10 action, in a Chart Watch blog that we posted earlier today. If you missed it, here's a link. This blog is a look at key movers and debuts below the top 10. Lorde's "Team" jumps from #14 to #11 in its 16th week. Digital sales rank: #8 (125K)…Bastille's "Pompeii" jumps from #18 to #12 in its 22nd week. The song tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week. Digital sales rank: #9 (124K)…"Stay The Night" by Zedd featuring Hayley Williams jumps from #23 to #18 in its 17th week…"Show Me" by Kid Ink featuring Chris Brown jumps from #31 to #21 in its 10th week. Kid Ink's second full-length album, "My Own Lane" enters The Billboard 200 at #3. Aloe Blacc's "The Man" vaults from #79 to #24 in its third week. Digital sales rank: #7 (139K). Blacc was featured, sans credit, on Avicii's monster hit, "Wake Me Up!" Blacc's song is scaling the Hot 100 faster than Avicii's follow-up, "Hey Brother," which jumps from #53 to #44 in its sixth week. Idina Menzel's "Let It Go" jumps from #27 to #25 in its seventh week. Digital sales rank: #10 (118K). It's the biggest hit from the "Frozen" soundtrack, which tops The Billboard 200 for the second week. Demi Lovato's pop cover version of the song drops from #38 to #52 in its seventh week. It's very rare for the original version by a Broadway star to climb higher than a pop cover version. But don't feel too bad for Lovato. Her new "Neon Lights" jumps from #88 to #78 in its third week. Sara Bareilles' "Brave" jumps from #30 to #26 in its 31st week. This matches its highest ranking to date…"Talk Dirty" by Jason Derulo featuring 2 Chainz vaults from #49 to #29 in its fourth week. Luke Bryan's "Drink A Beer" jumps from #36 to #33 in its 10th week. The song jumps to #1 on Hot Country Songs, displacing Florida Georgia Line's "Stay." It's Bryan's sixth #1 country hit...John Newman's "Love Me Again" vaults from #59 to #36 in its eighth week. The song reached #1 on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart in July. Newman's album "Tribute" (also a former U.K. #1) enters The Billboard 200 at #24 this week. Pharrell Williams' "Happy" vaults from #98 to #56 in its second week. The song, from "Despicable Me 2," returns to #1 on The U.K.'s Official Singles chart this week, displacing "Timber" by Pitbull featuring Ke$ha…"Up Down (Do This All Day)" by T-Pain featuring B.o.B jumps from #78 to #69 in its eighth week…"Paranoid" by Ty Dolla $ign featuring B.o.B jumps from #87 to #75 in its fourth week…Bruno Mars' "Young Girls" jumps from #94 to #76 in its second week. Brantley Gilbert's "Bottoms Up" jumps from #91 to #77 in its fourth week. The song has climbed as high as #58…Dan + Shay's "19 You + Me" jumps from #96 to #81 in its second week. Lucy Hale's "You Sound Good To Me" is this week's top new entry at #88. The 24-year old actress appears on "Pretty Little Liars," an ABC Family series…Randy Houser's "Goodnight Kiss" debuts at #93. It's the third Hot 100 hit from Houser's third studio album, "How Country Feels"…Thomas Rhett's "Get Me Some Of That" debuts at #94. It's the third Hot 100 hit from his first full-length album, "It Goes Like This." Eric Church's "Give Me Back My Hometown" debuts at #95. It's the second Hot 100 hit from Church's fourth studio album, "The Outsiders," which is due Feb. 11. Church's biggest hit to date is of course "Springsteen." Bruce Springsteen reached the top 10 in January 1986 with a song called "My Hometown." "She Knows" by J. Cole featuring Amber Coffman & Cults debuts at #96. It's the third Hot 100 hit from the rapper's chart-topping sophomore album, "Born Sinner"…Flo Rida's "How I Feel" debuts at #98. It's from his fifth studio album, "The Perfect 10," which is due later this year… Somo's "Ride" debuts at #100. Somo is a 26-year old R&B/pop singer. This is from his major-label debut, due this year.

Don't worry, it will get better for you in about 10 weeks. No way in hell Katy pulls off a 10 week plus number one I never said that. We all know it won't be #1 next week, so you can already subtract 1. Might not even be 2 weeks, so you can subtract 2. I also said "about", so you can subtract 3. That would leave 7. And that's totally doable. Right @peigan68? ;)

'DIL' just needs Pop airplay & higher sales to secure a Top 10 placement. Streaming is fine, could of course go higher. She'll be fine.

I've noticed something interesting. If "Dark Horse" hits #1 on the Hot 100 in February (which it should), Katy Perry will have had at least one Hot 100 number-one hit peak in eight out of the twelve months. The only months she hasn't had a #1 hit in (so far) are January, February, May, October, and November. The Beatles had a #1 hit peak in every month of the year except July, while Mariah Carey had #1s peak in every month except January and July. Rihanna (counting featurings) has had a #1 hit peak in every month except January, February, and September.

Because TM peaked earlier in its run and was promoted to radio a lot faster. It doesn't necessarily have to do with longevity, some songs just rise sooner/debut higher than others. Radioactive hit the top 5 on its 42nd week on the Hot 100 because it took a while for it to make the pop crossover; majority of people hadn't even heard of the song until a few months into 2013 even though it came out in summer of 2012. I can counter your argument by saying that Timber was in the top 3 for 6 weeks while TM was in the top 3 for 11 weeks now.

"Firework" hit #1 on December 18, 2010. You could put an asterisk on January for Katy Perry: after three weeks on top, "Firework" slipped from number one but returned the week of January 15, 2011 for a fourth cumulative week. So it had already been there, but she still had a song climb to number one in January.

Technically the March 3, 2012 issue came out in February so technically speaking Part of Me hit number one in February lol

Why is Happy only now becoming a hit, if it was from a movie that came out last summer? Was it in a commercial or something? Seems utterly bizarre timing-wise.

Not really. Rihanna makes the songs she's featured in sound better than they would without her. To put it bluntly she is the draw. Katy's features have all flopped because when you put Katy next to any artist she doesn't add anything to the song. Rihanna has a healthy mix of her own #1 singles with #1 singles that technically the other artists are billed as the lead on even if the only reason you are listening to the song is the hook and bridge that Rihanna is singing. Qualitatively, Rihanna is as responsible for the songs she's featured on going to #1 as the artist themselves if not more responsible.

Can someone identify which "ROCK" charts are leading the charge here? Passenger's "Let Her Go" reaches a new Hot 100 peak (7-6) and dethrones Lorde's "Royals" (4-7) on Hot Rock Songs. On what planet is LHG "rock"?
