I’m kinda curious why you think Toby skipped the line? If anything he should have been put in within the last five years. B&D & Alan Jackson have been in for several years and the careers of them are very similar to that of Toby’s. ….In fact if you look at stats Toby out performed B&D in every category. I don't want to step on someone else's answer, but I would've had Toby at about 3rd in line, behind Dwight (1st) and Shania (2nd). So he only jumped a couple spots, but he was right there. Similar thoughts, might've had Kenny Chesney ahead as well. They've voted in the past for people because they were sick to try to get them in before it was too late. All were bound to get in eventually, just bumped up a few spots. B&D got in a little early imo along with Vince Gill, but doesn't change that I think Toby was chosen a little earlier than he would've been. Keep in mind I'm not mad at the decision whatsoever.

John Anderson landed his last major hit in 1995 with Mississippi Moon. That peaked at #15. During that same week, Toby Keith was sliding down the chart with his biggest #2 hit, You Ain't Much Fun (#19 that week). Congratulations to both artists (R.I.P., Toby), plus congratulations to James Burton.

Congrats to James Burton, John Anderson and Toby Keith on being the 2024 inductees. Darn shame Toby missed out on the news by less than 2 months. I heard several times today over 3 radio stations that the news was going to be shared with him the day he died.

Very happy with John getting in, he felt like somebody who may have been overlooked and then not got in before passing. It's also good to settle that he was a "veteran" as I see other artists from his time still in discussion for "modern" and this should set that boundary a little more. Next Veteran Maddox Bros. & Rose, Lynn Anderson, or Crystal Gayle please! Toby I think may have skipped the line by a pick or two but he was going to be in for sure within the next few years. From what we know now they tabulated the results the day the news broke of his passing. It's a shame it worked out that he missed it by possibly hours. Also very well deserving and I'm sure he knew he'd be in someday. Dwight is still the stand out missing from the hall and I hope he doesn't fall to the veteran category before being recognized. I’m kinda curious why you think Toby skipped the line? If anything he should have been put in within the last five years. B&D & Alan Jackson have been in for several years and the careers of them are very similar to that of Toby’s. ….In fact if you look at stats Toby out performed B&D in every category. I definitely feel like he skipped the line a bit too, when you consider that he is THE FIRST '90s-debuting artist to make the HoF. We've definitely reached the point where it was all but a certainty that the '90s artists were going to finally start appearing any time now. But when you consider that Toby was always a bit of an "outsider" in the eyes of the industry executives... I would have put Tim and Kenny ahead of him for sure, possibly even Trisha and Martina if they wanted to even out men and women. And of course a handful of '80s-debuts like Dwight Yoakum, Lorrie Morgan, Clint Black, Travis Tritt, etc. still possibly getting that "modern" slot in the next few years too. No question Toby would have naturally been in within the next five years or so, but I wouldn't have pegged him as THE FIRST of the '90s wave when you consider that some of his peers were much more of Nashville "insiders" than he was.
Anyway, it doesn't matter, I am ECSTATIC for Toby and John!! Very well deserved for both of them!! Idk James Burton, but congrats to him as well!

I will say that I believe Brooks & Dunn were the first 90's artists (with Toby being a really great 2nd) but I certainly agree about being ecstatic for Toby and John.

His second single “Here in the real world” was released in 1990. Like sure he debuted in the 80’s but he will always be known as a 90’s country artist.
