YES Patty!!!! I am so over the moon about it!
Also, Bob McDill wrote "All the Good Ones are Gone," which is a fave.

I am thrilled that Tanya is finally getting her turn. Great news for Patty and Bob McDill as well. They picked a great group this year.

Congratulations to Tanya Tucker (long overdue), Patty Loveless, and Bob McDill for being the Class of 2023 for the Country Music Hall of Fame. They all appeared in the top 20 in 1997 when Tucker collected her final top ten, Little Things (#9). Not far behind was Loveless with her single, The Trouble With The Truth (would peak at #15). Finally, Pam Tillis was at #12 for the week with All The Good Ones Are Gone, which was co-written by McDill. Again, congratulations to all three!

I wish Patty would come out of retirement and do a few tour dates at theaters. It would be even cooler if she and Tanya teamed up and did a "Hall of Fame 2023 Tour" this Fall! I know I'm dreaming but I would love to see Patty live. She's one of the few of my favorites I never got to see.

I had been so disappointed the last several years when Tanya was not on the list, so I was beyond thrilled for her to finally get this honor.

Is it too early to talk about next year yet? lol! I'm just so thrilled the HOF is finally inducting Tanya and choosing Patty for the modern! It give me hope that maybe K.T. Oslin will be considered very soon. I hate that she didn't make it in her life time. She was the only artist in Country to ever do what she did. A nearly 50 year old woman who tried for decades to get a break suddenly has 5 years of radio support and multiple #1s and platinum albums in the late 80s and early 90s! That will never happen again. She deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame next year. Then after that hopefully it'll be Kathy Mattea and Dwight.

I was a little bit worried that Patty would get passed over long enough for her to slip into the veteran category, and then be forever lost in that mess. So seeing her get chosen makes me very happy. Next year will be very interesting. From my perspective, it seems like the Hall may have gotten a bit of a backlash to choosing Ray Stevens in 2019, so it looks like the past 4 years they have made sure to choose the main Veteran frontrunners (Hank/Ray C./Jerry/Tanya). Next year there currently doesn't seem to be a frontrunner, so this can go in many different directions. For me, I'd personally like either Stanley Brothers or Crystal Gayle (but I'd be fine with a lot of people). K.T. Oslin would be a fun choice, and I wouldn't be disappointed in it, but as much as she was great I just don't think her career was strong enough to warrant a selection ahead of other people. I may be wrong on that, but I just don't see it right now. Personally, I think it has to be Dwight for Modern next year. If not, then they really have something against him. But overall, great selections this year and I hope next year is the same.

Sorry for the delay on this post but I've been listening to Tanya and Patty a lot lately. My favorite song of Tanya's from the 90's was "Soon" and my favorite Patty song is "You Can Feel Bad" with "How Can I Help You Say Goodbye" a very close second. Then what can I say about Bob McDill. He's written a lot of songs that I like from Keith Whitley's "Don't Close Your Eyes", Mel McDaniel's "Louisiana Saturday Nght and "Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On", Doug Stone's "In A Different Light and "Why Didn't I Think Of That", Sammy Kershaw's biggest hit of his career "She Don't Know She's Beautiful" as well as several hit songs by Don Williams and Dan Seals. But I have to say my favorite song that was written by him was Earl Thomas Conley's 1988 #1 "What She Is (Is A Woman In Love)". Congratulations to all 3. Here's to hoping we have more 90's artists that didn't have Garth or Strait like careers get in the Hall eventually like Tracy Lawrence, Clay Walker, John Michael Montgomery as well as the female artists like Pam Tillis, Mary Chapin Carpenter and Lorrie Morgan to name a few.

Dan Seals Earl Thomas Conley Here's to hoping we have more 90's artists that didn't have Garth or Strait like careers We still have a lot of the 80s to get in, including 2 you mentioned. Anne Murray and/or Kathy Mattea if you want to put a female singer in. Or the Forester Sisters. (also the Bellamy Brothers)

What's interesting is there has been no artist who truly started their career in the 90's get into the hall yet. Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Patty Loveless, and Vince Gill may have found the majority of their success in the 90's, but they all started in the 80's. Arguably Brooks & Dunn count, but they had solo careers in the 80's. (Not very successful but they were there). I think the first "pure" 90's artist will be either Kenny Chesney or Tim McGraw. Possibly Trisha, Martina, Toby, or Shania, but I'd place good money on Kenny or Tim being first.

I think that a very strong case can be made for Trisha Yearwood getting in sooner rather than later. I don’t expect to see her in next year (heaven forbid they let in two consecutive females as modern artist), but I think she’s one to watch for the next couple of years. Tim McGraw would be my bet for next year.
If I had to guess, the next few modern artists will be:
Tim (2024) Trisha (2025) Kenny (2026) Martina (2027)
I would love to see Faith and Shania also considered. As mentioned before, we are well overdue for a big catch-up year.

It seems predictions for 2024 have begun: www.savingcountrymusic.com/2024-country-music-hall-of-fame-picks-predictions/As I said in the comments section of that article, this year seems like the the first time since 2019 that the Veteran category does not have a clear frontrunner. My best guesses for 2024 are: -Veteran: Maddox Brothers & Rose or Crystal Gayle -Modern: Dwight Yoakam or Toby Keith

In terms of the modern category, my prediction for this year is Tim McGraw, although my personal vote would go to Trisha Yearwood.

For the Veteran I'd hesitate to have another woman chosen so soon. If they do pick Crystal then it shows they're trying to play catch up with the women which I don't mind at all. But I think this year would go to a man or like Maddox Brothers & Rose where it's both. Personally hoping for Maddox Brothers & Rose / Dwight Yoakam. But not expecting that.

I don't want to put aside the awfulness of Toby's passing, but is he still eligible this year? Does them being in the midst of voting allow him the opportunity to get in now?
Plus, I saw John Anderson make a post on Instagram the other day. He was using a meme to joke about how he wasn't in the Hall Of Fame. Does this show that he is fighting for it and may get in soon?

I would think even if they were past the first round of voting they should probably take Toby out of the running, based on their initial rules. If the voting had already finished and they just hadn't announced yet then sure but they clearly wanted no sympathy votes to count in the past. Will be interesting if he is announced. This is all assuming they were even voting him in this year to begin with.
I'd love for John to be in soon. He's starting to look like an obvious front runner the way Tanya Tucker did for so long. There's still some others around him in terms of eligibility that wouldn't shock me to get picked first...but he's gotta be near the top of the list now.
Dwight (who is still in the Modern category) is the most obvious candidate currently not in the Hall imo. The Veteran has plenty of candidates who deserve and maybe "should" have been in before Dwight, but as he's in a separate category I weigh them differently in my mind.

Toby is all but guaranteed to be the headliner this year. The backlash the CMHOF would receive if he isn’t would be extreme. Honestly he should have already been in regardless. Toby talked about this in the hour long interview he did a couple months ago. He said he has always been overlooked for awards and recognition in Nashville because he never lived there…..He even joked the only way he will get in the HOF is to die.

Happy Toby got in but sad it was after he passed! Also John Anderson getting in was well deserved.

Very happy with John getting in, he felt like somebody who may have been overlooked and then not got in before passing. It's also good to settle that he was a "veteran" as I see other artists from his time still in discussion for "modern" and this should set that boundary a little more.
Next Veteran Maddox Bros. & Rose, Lynn Anderson, or Crystal Gayle please!
Toby I think may have skipped the line by a pick or two but he was going to be in for sure within the next few years. From what we know now they tabulated the results the day the news broke of his passing. It's a shame it worked out that he missed it by possibly hours. Also very well deserving and I'm sure he knew he'd be in someday.
Dwight is still the stand out missing from the hall and I hope he doesn't fall to the veteran category before being recognized.

I’m kinda curious why you think Toby skipped the line? If anything he should have been put in within the last five years. B&D & Alan Jackson have been in for several years and the careers of them are very similar to that of Toby’s. ….In fact if you look at stats Toby out performed B&D in every category.

I don't want to step on someone else's answer, but I would've had Toby at about 3rd in line, behind Dwight (1st) and Shania (2nd). So he only jumped a couple spots, but he was right there.
