I'm not happy if Rather Be misses top ten altogether due to tough competition.

Since H100 merges all sorts of data to determine popularity, #1 video is no less valid than a song that sells massively (with limited airplay) - think all the AI songs that went to #1 or Glee songs that somehow little the Billboard charts (seriously, the #1 charting act of all time?) I argued back in the MTV days that video play should count because people were hearing and consuming music that way. What difference did it make that it was through TV or radio? Plus, at that time, MTV play made a huge impact on sales. H100 is far from perfect - think early in digital era when sales were almost a 2:1 ratio to airplay because sales were "low." It took Billboard a few years to adjust that sales were weighted far too heavily because sales soared and so the formula was adjust again. but the thing is like anaconda video you can see how many dislikes the video got on youtube. most of the people watched the video out of curiosity from all the buzz about it, it doesn't mean we all liked it and it's kinda weird to be #1 on hot100 despite being disliked by so many Most people listened to Taylor's song because of the buzz and hype too. Same with any highly anticipated song. The difference with those is presumably they aren't as widely disliked. Buzz is buzz. If Nicki's song is so disliked, it will fall sooner than later.

Tell me you're not counting Sam Smith as a female...because there's currently his song and MAGIC!'s in the top 10.

But then the number would still be 8:
-Taylor Swift -Meghan Trainor -Nicki Minaj (Both Anaconda and Bang Bang) -Jessie J -Ariana Grande (Both Break Free and Bang Bang) -Iggy Azalea -Sia -Charli XCX
It would be 9 if Rita Ora counted, but she's only a featured artist on "Black Widow"

Chart Watch: Women Own The Pop ChartFemale solo artists hold down the top four spots on the Hot 100 for the first time in 2-1/2 years. Taylor Swift's “Shake It Off” holds at #1 for the second week, Meghan Trainor's “All About That Bass” rebounds from #3 to #2 (matching its highest ranking to date), Nicki Minaj's “Anaconda” dips from #2 to #3 and “Bang Bang” by Jessie J, Ariana Grande & Minaj leaps from #9 to #4. There’s not a man in sight until you get down to #5, Sam Smith's “Stay With Me.” This is the best showing for female artists since the week ending Feb. 19, 2012, when women locked up the entire top five. Katy Perry's “Part Of Me” debuted at #1 that week, followed by Adele's “Set Fire To The Rain,” Whitney Houston's “I Will Always Love You,” Kelly Clarkson's “Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)” and Adele's “Rolling In The Deep.” (That was the first full week following both Houston's death and Adele's sweep of the Grammys). Moreover, female (lead) artists hold down eight of the top 10 positions this week. “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea featuring Rita Ora holds at #6, Grande’s “Break Free” (featuring Zedd) holds at #7, Sia's “Chandelier” dips from #8 to #9 and Charli XCX's “Boom Clap” rebounds from #12 to #10. (Women also held down eight of the top 10 slots on the aforementioned Feb. 19, 2012 chart—which corresponds with the Billboard issue dated March 3.) The only male artists in this week’s top 10, as lead or featured artists, are Smith, Zeddand MAGIC!, whose “Rude” drops from #5 to #8. "Shake It Off" is the first song by a female artist to debut at #1 and stay there for a second week since Lady Gaga's “Born This Way,” which spent its first six weeks at #1 in early 2011. "Shake It Off" sold 340K digital copies this week, down from 544K in its first week. It’s the first song to sell 300K or more copies in each of its first two weeks since Katy Perry's “Roar,” which topped 300K in weekly sales in each of its first six weeks late last summer. "Shake It Off" zooms from #12 to #8 in its second week on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart, which, as the name suggests, measures airplay at pop stations. It’s just the third song in nearly 10 years to reach the top 10 on this chart in just two weeks. In 2011, Britney Spears's “Hold It Against Me” and Lady Gaga's “Born This Way” also achieved the feat. The difference, of course, is that Spears and Gaga were pop stars from the start of their careers. Swift was a country star who crossed over to pop. Swift’s first hit, “Tim McGraw,” cracked Hot Country Songs nearly three months before it reached the Hot 100. Swift landed her first top five country hit (“Teardrops On My Guitar”) more than a year before she landed her first top five pop hit (“Love Story”). And she landed her first #1 country hit (“Our Song”) nearly five years before she landed her first #1 pop hit (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”). Minaj’s “Anaconda” is #1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for the second week. Smith’s “Stay With Me” is #1 on the all-genre Radio Songs chart for the fourth week. The song stalled at #2 on the Hot 100, only because sales and radio didn’t quite come together at the same time. The song was the #1 digital seller for two weeks in late June and early July. Charli XCX's “Boom Clap” first cracked the top 10 three weeks ago. It's the third song with a title that starts with “Boom” to make the top 10, following “Boombastic” by Shaggy (#3 in 1995) and “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas (#1 in 2009). Nico & Vinz's “Am I Wrong,” which logged six weeks at #4 on the Hot 100, tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. The song spent two weeks at #1 on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart. "This Is How We Roll" by Florida Georgia Line featuring Luke Bryan also tops the 2 million mark in digital sales this week. The song was #1 on Hot Country Songs for six weeks. A pop remix, which also features Jason Derulo, reached #15 on the Hot 100. Florida Georgia Line’s megahit, “Cruise,” will indisputably top the 7 million mark in digital sales next week. How can I be so sure? It came within 400 copies of topping that threshold this week. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-women-own-the-pop-chart-212718757.html

Chart Watch: Eminem is Back (with Sia)"Guts Over Fear" by Eminem featuring Sia is the week’s top new entry on the Hot 100 at #22. The song will appear in the Denzel Washington movie The Equalizer and on Shady XV, a Various Artists compilation due Nov. 24. This is the second Eminem/Sia collabo to make the Hot 100. “Beautiful Pain,” from The Marshall Mathers LP 2, reached #99 in 2013. Eminem has also charted with two collabos with Rihanna, though both of those songs (“Love The Way You Lie” and “The Monster”) reached #1. Eminem has charted with one collabo each with three other female artists: Dido (“Stan,” #51 in 2000), Nicki Minaj (“Roman’s Revenge,” #56 in 2010) and P!nk (“Won’t Back Down,” #62 in 2010). In addition, Eminem and Skylar Grey were both featured on Dr. Dre's “I Need A Doctor” (#4 in 2011). "Guts Over Fear" is vying to become Eminem’s 18th top 10 hit; Sia’s fourth. She is currently in the top 10 with "Chandelier" and previously scored as the featured artist on David Guetta's “Titanium” and Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones.” This week’s big Hot 100 news is that female artists lock up the top four spots on the chart for the first time in 2-1/2 years. I covered that, and the rest of the top 10 action, in a blog that we posted earlier today. If you missed it, here’s a link. This blog will look at key moves and debuts below the top 10. Maroon 5's “Maps” rebounds from #14 to #11 in its 11th week. The song has climbed as high as #6. The group's album V is set to enter The Billboard 200 at #1 next week with first-week sales in the 145K range. Two other songs from the album make gains this week. “Animals” jumps from #86 to #54 in its second week. “It Was Always You” re-enters the chart at #95. It has climbed as high as #45. "Don’t Tell ‘Em" by Jeremih featuring YG jumps from #18 to #17 in its 10th week … Tove Lo lands her first top 20 hit as “Habits (Stay High)” jumps from #23 to #20 in its 14th week … Jason Aldean's “Burnin' It Down” rebounds from #22 to #21 in its sixth week. It debuted and peaked at #12 five weeks ago. It's #1 on Hot Country Songs for the sixth week. Rapper Bobby Shmurda lands his first top 40 hit as “Hot Boy” leaps from #43 to #25 in its fifth week. This title is the clean version. The original version has the “N-word” in place of “Boy” … Katy Perry's “This Is How We Do” jumps from #36 to #29 in its fifth week … 5 Seconds of Summer's “Amnesia” jumps from #46 to #33 in its ninth week. The song has already climbed as high as #16. Ed Sheeran's “Don't” leaps from #47 to #34 in its 12th week. It's the third top 40 hit from his sophomore album, x (following “Sing” and “Afire Love”). Sheeran’s debut album, +, spawned just one top 40 hit … Drake’s “0 To 100/The Catch Up” jumps from #53 to #44 in is sixth week … Rae Shemmurd's “No Flex Zone!!” jumps from #62 to #49 in its fifth week … Jason Derulo's “Trumpets” rebounds from #80 to #66 in its 14th week. The song has climbed as high as #56 … “About The Money” by T.I. featuring Young Thug jumps from #79 to #70 in its fourth week. ”***Flawless” by Beyonce featuring Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie or Nicki Minaj is the week’s second highest new entry at #82. It’s the fifth Hot 100 hit from Beyonce. That album rebounds from #44 to #14 on The Billboard 200 in the wake of B’s show-capping performance on the VMAs. "Walk Thru" by Rich Homie Quan featuring Problem jumps from #99 to #83 in its second week … “She Came To Give It To You” by Usher featuring Nicki Minaj is the week’s third highest new entry at #89. It’s the second Hot 100 single from Usher’s upcoming eighth studio album, UR. This song was licensed to General Mills for use in a new Honey Nut Cheerios commercial, featuring Usher … Keith Urban's “Somewhere In My Car” is the week's fourth highest new entry at #91. It's the fourth Hot 100 single from his eighth studio album, Fuse. "Best Mistake" by Ariana Grande featuring Big Sean re-enters the chart at #94. The song debuted and peaked (so far) two weeks ago at #49 … “24 Hours” by TeeFlii featuring 2 Chainz debuts at #97. It’s from his upcoming debut album, Starr. It’s the first song with that exact title to make the chart, but two songs with similar titles have charted. Gene Pitney's classic version of the Bacharach/David gem “Twenty Four Hours From Tulsa” hit #17 in 1963. Georgia Gibbs’s “24 Hours A Day (365 A Year) reached #74 in 1955. music.yahoo.com/blogs/chart-watch/chart-watch-eminem-is-back-with-sia-235941649.html

I'm a bit worried he didn't mention "Bailando", "Rather Be", or "Cool Kids", but hopefully they'll have some sort of gain, just not a noteworthy one.

Well considering Maps by Maroon 5 moved back up to #11... it seems like all three of those songs still had no chance of entering the Top 10... what a crock of $hit!!!!

Better than I expected for the Eminem/Sia collabo. Probably will drop next week, though- will there be a video for the track?

It's only a gimmick for this latest album I thought she said... she's had no problems showing her face or singing live before when promoting her previous albums, even when she was with Zero 7.

Hits Daily Double is reporting considerably different digital sales numbers for the top tracks. I've sometimes seen their numbers differ by a thousand or two, but never by this much. What happened here?
Edit: Nevermind, Billboard itself has corrected its numbers to mirror the following:
1. Taylor Swift, “Shake It Off” – 355k 2. Meghan Trainor, “All About That Bass” – 266k 3. Jessie J + Ariana Grande + Nicki Minaj, “Bang Bang” – 244k 4. Nicki Minaj, “Anaconda” – 188k 5. Iggy Azalea f/Rita Ora, “Black Widow” – 187k 6. Eminem f/Sia, “Guts Over Fear” – 134k 7. Sam Smith, “Stay With Me” – 125k 8. Ariana Grande f/Zedd, “Break Free” – 118k 9. Maroon 5, “Maps” – 98k 10. Charli XCX, “Boom Clap” – 90k

She said she doesn't want to be judged by her appearance, whatnot, for this era, at least. Sia had a great Howard Stern interview where basically she said she loves writing and making music but does not want to spend her life touring and promoting. I think the "don't show my face" thing is more specifically a promo tactic for this album, but I would not expect her to ever really be wanting to put herself out there a ton in the future.
