I'll admit, I wasn't aware of this album at it's time of release, but I have since discovered what a gem it is in years since! It was very innovative and doesn't shy away from difficult topics or feelings. I also loved watching The Con: The Movie to see all the things they did in to studio to produce so many interesting sonic patterns. It also speaks a lot to those going through heartbreak. The opening four tracks + the final two hit especially hard. Also, "Nineteen" :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( 1. I Was Married 2. Relief Next to Me 3. The Con 4. Knife Going In 5. Are You Ten Years Ago 6. Back In My Head 7. Hop a Plane 8. Soil, Soil 9. Burn Your Life Down 10. Nineteen 11. Floorplan 12. Like O Like H 13. Dark Come Soon 14. Call It Off

Also one of my favourite albums ever. This and So Jealous are among the most important albums that came about at such prominent times in my life. So Jealous I consider my "coming out" album whereas this one came out a few weeks after my first bf and I broke up. So while I don't directly associate it with that time period (luckily), it was the album I listened to a lot then. However, the song Call It Off REALLY hit me hard around that time because it explains SO well my feelings about that breakup. Even now when I listen to it, I get teary-eyed because of the whole 'what could have been'. The song hits so hard because of the final-ness of it all, in the line "but now we'll never know."

I am lucky enough to have seen 5 songs from this album performed live.
"Back In Your Head" and "Call It Off" seem to be staples in their set lists, as I've seen them at all three of their concerts I've been to. "Nineteen" was performed when they came to my undergrad alma mater, and of course I had to go back and watch!
The title track was part of the Let's Make Things Physical tour, which I highly approved of.
And the best treat was when we got an impromptu "Dark Come Soon" performance. They said they had just rehearsed it at sound check for the first time on the LMTP tour and it was a great experience.
