Kinda figured that would be the case considering the iTunes listing I saw last week. On another note, a couple other future track titles thanks to me accidentally coming across them on last.fm: "Good To Bad," "Gasoline," and "Summer Love, Summer Night." (All four songs - those plus "Goodbye" - were listed with the artist as Fancy, so maybe the album release will revert that or these were sent out before the name "change.") I still don't get the listing considering his artist is just Fancy. It'll just end up confusing people.

The "Goodbyeees" in the chorus remind me of the Nahs in Last Goodbye.

Currently #164 on iTunes US. It just needs some promo. That's pretty good considering he is completely unknown. It's featured as a Hot Track, and that is usually pretty good promo (this week's "Can't Stop", "Honey, I'm Good.", "Never Stop (Wedding Version)" are climbing rapidly because of it).

Kicks off with three adds this week. They've left the label unlisted on AllAccess/Mediabase and listed him as "Who Is Fancy." But after a bit of internet sleuthing on mine and Adam (UTR)'s part to confirm what I'd initially figured last fall, we can answer that question: he's singer-songwriter Fancy Hagood. lol I can see why they're not revealing his identity until this song hits. His image definitely doesn't fit the sound:

I thought it was pleasant but not eventful at first, but by the end of the song i changed my mind and i can see this being a grower.

Well, lately looks are not that important to have success (fortunately)

Well, lately looks are not that important to have success (fortunately) This whole marketing campaign suggesting " everyone is fancy" seems like a set-up for the reveal that he doesn't look like he sounds or like the type of act who would typically record that kind of music. I think Adele (who is gorgeous but definitely doesn't have the conventional female pop star image) set off this whole trend of major pop stars who are more "normal" and don't represent the "ideal" (which includes Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor, as well). This seems like a blatant attempt to capitalize on that trend. There are a lot of people who will strongly identify with that concept, because your average person doesn't look like a pop superstar.

I think he looks average. A better haircut and a more flattering angle would considerably improve things.

To be honest i don't think he is ugly at all, simply he is not your typical hearthrob. And of course he doesn't look like his music suggest which is always tricky (i still remember some harsh comments about Sam Smith being a chubby whitey instead of chocolate god)

However, the songs he had out at the time blew up so fast that it was deemed unnecessary to do that.

However, the songs he had out at the time blew up so fast that it was deemed unnecessary to do that. I don't know if that's true because Sam received an Brit choice of the critics before having any hit single (by then he only released Latch and Lay me dow which was more a buzz single than anything). Him blowing the chart is quite recent because Money on my mind was released less than a year ago. But if someone in the label really thought that was a good idea he/she needs to be fire, because that won't be a Black Box or C and C music factory situation (the guy still recieves backlash for that idea) it would be a Milli Vanilli situation. I understand someone on the label thinking Sam was not marketable as pop star but being a pop star is not the only way, and it was pretty clear from the beginning that he was going to have appeal to the adult market. The fact that teen girls love him is a surprise the fact he is able to sell like there's no tomorrow is not that surprising. I remember a journalist making a review of the billboard top 50 back when Stay with me wasn't even top 20 saying that there was a sense of inevitability in Sam's success that he didn't see since Mariah. And yes, his looks are not marketable and being gay was poison at least to radio airplay till recently, but he only needed one tv performance to break into the US market (compare this with the effort Ed Sheeran which is a singer of similar success had to do to achieve the same). And even if he fails in the US market it was clear he was going to be big in the UK market. With the social media is impossible to carry that kind of strategy, only in a short amount of time, and the bad press for the label would be inmense. Anyway there's no reason to not hire a good stylist, because the fact that Sam always look way better in his pics for magazines should make his people think about changing some things in his hair and wardrobe And i don't know if the strategy with Who is fancy has to do with his looks, sometimes create some buzz is good to start the career of a new artist. Let the music speak first could be a good idea for everybody who has more to offer than good looks

He looks like a 2006 Rascal Flats reject in that picture. With better styling he should be fine. If Ed Sheeran can be a pop star, so can this guy.
