don't get your panties in a twist. You actually said that CMT rarely plays them, which just isn't true.
Umm actually it is true, look at CMT compared to GAC. CMT has WAY more different programming than just playing videos. It is limited to videos mostly mornings and overnights, with Top 20 sprinkled in there on thursday's and weekends. Steelo is correct you are wrong. But staying on topic since someone always likes to throw this topic off. I still love this song. Taylor is quickly becoming one of my favorite artists. I wish her nothing but success as he career rolls on. No, I am not "wrong". You can't define frequency, and in my opinion, CMT plays PLENTY of videos. They also get tons of play elsewhere, like GAC... so you can't say that it doesn't have much impact.

The only promoting for IW was American Idol, and that didn't get recognition for the song because of the whole boob job controversy. The View was in the middle of January, ages ago.

I should listen to this CD again to see if it's one of those that becomes better with more listens.

For a newcomer with a ballad, this song is moving really well. On the verge of cracking top 30. You can tell Taylor's got a lot of momentum and that country radio really likes her.

It seems the buying public likes her too. She's doing really well with album sales and on iTunes (which I look at as one of the indicators of current popularity). She's definitely the hot newcomer this year. And I see she's also signed on for the second leg of Brad's tour.

My radio station never plays this song, so i've never have had a listen to this song until today. (downloaded on itunes). Never was a fan of Tim Mcgraw, but I gotta say this song rocks. Although she doesn't have the big voice, I love the softness in her voice and I love the melody of this song. I can see why this girl's doing well.

This week on the Hot 100 (overall Airplay and downloads) she moved up 14 spots to 77. She's passed Top 20 hits (while she hasn't even cracked Top 30) such as "High Maintenance Woman" (Toby Keith), "Long Trip Alone" (Dierks Bentley), "Hillbilly Deluxe" (Brooks & Dunn), "Good Deirections" (Billy Currington), and Tim McGraw's current #2 hit, "Last Dollar (Fly Away)." She looks to pass top 10 hits Joe Nichols's "I'll Wait For You," Rodney Atkins's "Watching You," Trace Adkins's "Ladies Love Country Boys," and quite possibly Rascal Flatts's "Stand." She'll then have the 6th highest country song, some above being a rising Carrie song ("Wasted"), a falling song ("Stupid Boy"), and two stalling songs, "Before He Cheats" and "Anyway."
"Tim McGraw" peaked at 6 on country and 40 on Hot 100. I think she'll beat at least one of those peaks. WTG and well deserved.

"Teardrops On My Guitar" jumps 4 spots this week from #31 to #27. Nice move!

I remember hearing this on the radio for the first time a couple of month's ago and not knowing it was Taylor... I really thought at the time it was a GREAT song... It wasn't too long before I bought her GREAT CD. For only being 16, it's obvious she's extremely talented!

She did tell Shawn Parr on his radio show this morning that she will be performing an acoustic version of this standout tune on the ACM show on May 15th, which should be REALLY enjoyable, given the amazing purity of her voice.
Barring a HUGE surprise, she should hop into the Mediabase/Country Aircheck top twenty this weekend, with at least three songs (Tim McGraw/Joe Nichols/Martina McBride) slated to go recurrent Saturday evening.

Does anybody know where I can find the radio edit of the song, with the drums and percussion? I like the radio version a lot better than the album version - just sounds more complete. This song continues to do quite well -- here's hoping for another top ten for Taylor.

I know it's about 6-8 weeks too soon to start thinking about the next single, but I really think they should go with "Our Song." It's obvious she needs an uptempo single, and "Our Song" is currently #21 on the iTunes country chart, ahead of current singles such as "I Told You So," "Lucky Man," "These Are My People," and "High Maintenance Woman."

Since this exceptional tune isn't close to being finished yet, a third single is still 2/3 months down the road.
But hey, it's ALWAYS nice to pick the next one, isn't it, and hope that the record company agree with you.

This artist does nothing for me, and is very difficult to look at, I don't care how old she is!

This artist does nothing for me, and is very difficult to look at, I don't care how old she is! She sang at my mall a few months ago and I have to say she is breathtaking. I'm really hoping Teardrops can go top ten. The bullet is dying down from what it was, hopefully it will pick back up. Tim McGraw was on the charts how many MONTHS before it went top ten though? I agree that Our Song would be a great single. I actually thought she would go with Picture to Burn, one of my country stations here has been playing the hell out of it so I would imagine it's getting good responses, but she took Picture to Burn off her myspace and put up Should've Said No. Maybe she has her eyes on that as her uptempo single? I think SSN would be great if it had a radio mix to it the way Teardrops did. And I'm still hoping that Oh My My My gets a release somewhere down the road.

Someone please explain to me how the following is possible:
Billy Currington has the #1 Country song in the country and he is at #47 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, having fallen 5 spots since last week. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift is at #44 (up 7 spots) on the Hot 100, but is allegedly only the 15th most popular country song in the USA.
HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?? Can someone PLEASE explain it to me like I'm a 6 year old, so that I can understand it once and for all?
By the way, I'm not saying this because I don't like Taylor's song, I do. IN fact, I really don't see what all the fuss is about over the Billy Currington song. I actually think he just had perfect timing and that's the only reason he got 3 weeks at #1. That song is NOT a multi-week #1 in my opinion, but he just so happened to get in there after three great songs were on their way down and the songs below him were not moving up very quickly. Just being in the right place at the right time. I still don't think the song's that great. Anyway...someone please tell me how the #1 country song can be below the # 15 country song on the Hot 100. Thanks!!!

^^ The Hot 100 is computed by air play in all formats plus single sales. I think TOMG is faring well in single sales so much that it can eclipse what ever advantage GD has in airplau.

This song will make the top ten rather easily within the first two weeks of July, as there are several songs currently in the top ten which are on the verge of collapsing in airplay because they are VERRRRY old.

I forgot about single sales. But if the song is doing so well in sales, why doesn't that impact its position on the country chart? Is the Billboard country chart solely based on airplay? That would explain a LOT.

Yes, the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart is based solely on country airplay.

Ditto for the Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts which come out every week as well, including the charts which appear every Tuesday in USA Today, and serve as the basis for the countdown shows hosted by Crook & Chase, Bob Kingsley & Lon Helton.

I was really excited to see Taylor open for Brad Paisley tomorrow, but I just heard she will not be performing since she has been ordered bed rest by her doctor. Oh well, at least I got to see her open for Rascal Flatts. Get well Taylor!

Me too; her first two singles are downright exceptional, and certainly among the best back-to-back singles by a new artist in recent memory.

It's interesting reading some of the earlier comments about how they didn't think this song would do well and here it is on the verge of going top 10.
I like this song much better than Tim McGraw but I'm still not a fan of her delivery. Her vocals seem a little weak.
