I'm a little tired of a lot of rising song awful updates due to Maroon 5 and Taylor's new singles. Frankly such love fest for fourth singles is a little too much in my opinion Welcome to corporate America! Well, i understand that they are radio darlings, big artist and all that, but such a fuss for a fourth single (in both cases) it's a little too much. The fact that Bad Blood is the worst of Taylor's recent singles (in my opinion, of course) don't help either. It's really amazing her star power, all she needed was a bunch of celebrity cameos for her video (which is very far from being one of her best) and everything exploded. Anyway, the chart should be back to normal soon. Now Ghost town is comfortable around 170 (which is far better than 240), i think with some promo or more airplay it will be closer to the top 100 (hopefully it will be soon)

It seems that he continued to do well on Finland, the song is top 20 on itunes (even with the tons of eurovision songs in the chart)

"This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like A MotherFucker" is a lead single from a re-release, meaning it's just as new to everyone as "Maps" was, so it's understandable that radio will play it hard because of hype. "Bad Blood" isn't a new song, but the remix is new and it changes it quite a bit. Plus, the song is basically being promoted like a lead single, and with all the hype from the video and the remix sales, it's understandable that radio will want to get in on the action too.

Plus, the song is basically being promoted like a lead single, and with all the hype from the video and the remix sales, it's understandable that radio will want to get in on the action too. re-releases and remixes are all just marketing ploys (albeit effective ones) to trick music consumers in to feeling like it's not a 4th single though. i also think a lot of it comes down to extremely consolidated and calculated radio playlists where they only focus on a handful of core artists...maroon 5 and taylor swift being the chosen ones this time around where literally anything either artist releases will be played to death. i totally get the original poster's point though. i've called it out before and many people on this board laughed at me but these massive spin gains going towards artists like taylor swift and maroon 5 got to come from somewhere and unfortunately in a few cases it has a negative impact on songs further down the chart. the same thing happened when 1989 was released and all of its album trackers pushed a bunch of steadily climbing songs down the itunes chart last fall. at the end of the day its good for maroon 5 and taylor swift but it is not good for the music industry and the consumers.

Well, today all songs in the low part of the chart had very bad updates (with Shawn Mendes as exception).
I still think the same, such enthusiasm of radio on fourth singles is a bit too much for me. I can understand the promo, the high places on itunes, but for the life of me that i don't understand the +750 updates out of the gate on radio like they were the lead single of a long waited album.

Geez! Bad Blood original version was receiving crappy updates up to last week when the NEW version was released. It may be a fourth song of this era, but it's treated as a new single because the remix wasn't heard or available before. Even clearer is the case of Maroon 5's song. That is a completely new song none had heard at all. It's not available in their album, so it's like a first single of the new version of the album. Given both artists' success in pop with back to back hits, it's completely understandable that they see this type of humongous updates.

If the prior songs were flops or underperformaces, they wouldn't be given such treatment. But Sugar and Style were hits, so it makes sense that their re-release songs are big gainers.

One thing is a big gainer and other very different a Born this way type of start of chart run. Of course both song are from big artist on very successful eras, but one thing is +300 updates and other very different +800.
Anyway, Ghostown is slowing too much, i hope he has some promo prepared, it's too soon to worry but it will be better if the updates go positive again and the song start to climb again on itunes

nice update!
excited that Z100 finally added the song. I think that means all the major stations in NY and CA have added it, right?

Hopefully the song will continue gaining (likely slowly) until then. Nope. The CBS stations in both NY and LA and the LA monitored radio Disney station (KDIS) have yet to add.

The CBS hac station in nyc is playing it (has been since day 1)...but the CBS NYC pop station has never played anything of his -- not once not ever, not even WWFM or IIHY -- I remember when WWFM was number 1 on the z100 playlist and 92.3 wasn't playing it at all. Its kinda baffling. Its also playing on the big (relatively) Hudson Valley pop station.

I looked at their playlist and noticed they don't seem to play Sam Smith either. They play his song with Disclosure but I didn't find even one of his solo songs on their playlists. (unless I missed something).

Seems to be a homophobic station then with Adam and Sam shunned even with both having a big hit

Just maybe they don't like Ghosttown, you thought about that? what song did they play? I am looking at their play list from 12:54 - 3:27 and there isn't one song by Sam Smith on the list. They play Latch A LOT though.
I am not claiming homophobia but to say that radio stations only play "songs they like" is kinda silly. There are some crap songs that get radio play. I looked at their allaccess top 50 and Sam is at #45 (up from 50 last week) with Stay With Me (9 spins this week).
According to someone up thread this stations has never played a song by Adam, not even WWFM, which I find a bit odd.

here is their playlist for reference.

According to Wikipedia, WBMP did not exist until May 2014. That might be the reason they have never played a song by Adam. Also according to Wikipedia, their format is Rhythmic CHR. Look carefully at their playlist. It leans heavily rhythmic. Here is another look at their playlist: www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?format=H1&c_let=WBMP-FMLook at all the Top 40 artists missing from their playlist: Walk The Moon, Fifth Harmony, Andy Grammar, Echosmith, George Ezra, Carly Rae Jepsen - all much higher on the Top 40 charts than Ghost Town.

WBMP is just the rebranded 92.3now -- it switched branding in 2014...its still the same cbs pop station and its still on the mediabase chr panel (not the rhythmic panel)..it definitely skews more rhythmic than z100..but their playlists were somewhat closer in the NOW days

Lol @ the notion that z100, with the country's most popular radio DJ and host of the country's most widely syndicated morning show being an out gay man, being homophobic.
