Seems to be a homophobic station then with Adam and Sam shunned even with both having a big hit This is the sort of crap that gives Adam Lambert fans a bad reputation and does him no favours.92.3 play Sam Smith, in fact an hour ago. Just maybe they don't like Ghosttown, you thought about that? What are you even going on about? I only hear this from heavily invested Idol stans. You can always smell them a mile away. It's their go to meme. You think his fans are any different from other fandoms. LMAO. Chillax.

Lol @ the notion that z100, with the country's most popular radio DJ and host of the country's most widely syndicated morning show being an out gay man, being homophobic. My comment has been unfairly taken out of context . I responded to a poster saying the station never played an Adam song or a Sam song besides latch. I took the word of that poster to be true . I'd stand by thinking that station to be homophobic to void SAMs break through if it's a Pop station. However it looks like some of the facts given weren't true so my comment isn't applicable to the situation anymore

Here's hoping the radio promo ups GT's rotation in some of the iHeartRadio stations..

I think you are making much ado about nothing. Radio played him in his first era. His second era was lack of promo by the label so by extension would be lack of radioplay. He's not having a problem this era, so i don't know what facts you are basing this homophobic accusation crusade on. The only time homophobic has been thrown around was when he lost Idol but that was the media's doing. That's not his fans problem. I think you're the one that needs to chill. Why so angry?

According to someone up thread this stations has never played a song by Adam, not even WWFM, which I find a bit odd.
According to Wikipedia, WBMP did not exist until May 2014. That might be the reason they have never played a song by Adam. Also according to Wikipedia, their format is Rhythmic CHR. Look carefully at their playlist. It leans heavily rhythmic. Here is another look at their playlist: www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/7/stationplaylistrequest.asp?format=H1&c_let=WBMP-FMLook at all the Top 40 artists missing from their playlist: Walk The Moon, Fifth Harmony, Andy Grammar, Echosmith, George Ezra, Carly Rae Jepsen - all much higher on the Top 40 charts than Ghost Town. yeah, I thought their playlist leaned really heavily towards rhythmic, which is why it is kind of surprising that they aren't playing ghost town with the dance beat it has. But then it's not really the same kind of rhythmic as Drake I guess LOL

I only pointed out that I couldn't find Sam Smith on their playlist but it has been pointed out that AMP92.3 is a rhythmic CHR station so it makes sense that they don't play Adam OR Sam Smith.
and yes, they have played Sam's Stay with me 9 times this week as of yesterday's all access chart. That's not a whole lot for a song that 1) blew up last year and 2) is his first single *ie they are late*
back to Adam. Glad to see the CHR update improve a bit. Z100 adding it hopefully gets other stations on board soon.

It's very hard to find adds history now that Mediabase is behind an iron curtain. It used to be so easy. However, I am still leary about the statement that AMP92.3 doesn't play Sam Smith. How do we know what the play history for Stay With Me was back in 2014 when it was high on the charts? Here is a link to AMPs top plays for 2015: www.allaccess.com/mediabase/q/report/yearPlaylist/station/WBMP-FMNotice that Sam Smith's "I'm Not The Only One" is 42 on the chart. I'm going to guess that they added it - or at least played it quite frequently for awhile. So it's doubtful that AMP has anything against playing Sam's music. As for Ghost Town, I'm wondering why some of the early adders, like WIOQ, have tapered off their play. Waiting for album release or some cue from the label? Or something else?

Or something else? lol for pete's sake -- how did a simple factual statement that the NYC cbs pop station (and it is on the pop panel) present and past has never played Lambert's music turn into this long discussion??? They played Sam Smith plenty (I don't know what Sam has to do with the discussion either)...for whatever reason they just haven't supported Lambert's stuff. such is life. Most of the early adders of GT have remained steady -- Q102 has been very up and down since day one -- went from first day hourly, to nothing, then back up to 2-4 times day and its been pretty steady in that range for past couple of weeks....I think there have simply been a ton of new songs added to pop playlists over the past month including several with hourly spin deals and its just made it hard for songs from artists like lambert (eg not core chr multi-hit makers, no iheart hourly spin deals, not a huge proven hit overseas like cheerleader) to speed up...z100 has added something like over 15 songs over the past month (9 in last 2 weeks) and it looks like most are only being played 2-5 times a day with a handful of obvious exceptions...things will shake out over the next few weeks I'd guess (either for better or worse)

Sam Smith and Adam Lambert have absolutely nothing in common, apart from being big voices.
Now times changed, but radio was going to be more receptive to someone like Sam. There was a lot of discussion back in the day about the reluctance of some radio stations to play Adam's song, but as conservative as radio is in the USA, claim homophobia is not that easy, because the truth is Adam had several things against him, his image is not exactly mainstream image for a pop singer in the USA, and second it's the talent show stigma. It's difficult to break it at first, but even more with the second album.
There was such a positive buzz around Adam by the time of the first release that a lot of people expecting an smash, it didn't happened because the label did a really poor work with the release of his first material. All the strategy was wrong, and he was very lucky that Whataya want from me saved the day.
Ghost Town is a bit stalled on pop (on hot ac is not doing bad), but the situation didn't changed, this could go both ways. Even in the worst case scenario, the song put him again in the map, but hopefully with more promo it can make the hot 100 soon.

Promo was finally announced.
Fallon at June 15 Kelly & Michael at June 16 The GMA summer concert series at June 19
I hope these performances help GT reach the top 100 in both Billboard and in iTunes. I think GT's future on the radio is dependent on how well it does that week, assuming it keeps climbing until then.

Sam Smith and Adam Lambert have absolutely nothing in common, apart from being big voices. I used Sam as an example because they are insomuch as they are males who can actually sing and I didn't see him on their playlist when I looked through multiple days worth of plays. there is a stigma for guys coming off idol. Daughtry was the only one to have found any major success on radio when Adam came off the show in 09. The males struggle a lot more, which is odd since they are the ones who keep winning LOL. I think there was a claim to be made that decisions were made during that first era that were a direct result of radio's response to Adam's sexuality. For Your Entertainment was a great first single. the video was amazing and yet radio flat out refused to play it, even before the AMA performance took place. If it had been released by a female or even a straight male artist it would have been played and been a hit. WWFM did save that era from crashing and burning though. The single does seem to eb and flow. The updates have been weaker than I would have thought given the buzz about the song but I wouldn't say it has stalled. It still has forward movement. The album is two weeks away so hopefully the performances for promo of the album will help the song kick up in sales. if not they really need to push another single out asap.

Where are you basing this assumption on? Radio didn't play FYE because the song just wasn't good enough. Adam has yet to give a good live performance of this song because the song doesn't translate well live and it showed at the AMA performance. There is also no proof if a female or straight male sang the song it would have smashed. NONE. RCA originally wanted WWFM as the first single based on the initial leaks. It was Adam and 19R/Management who wanted FYE as the first single to go along with the AMA performance which caused all the delays. As RCA suspected radio didn't jump on the song and it had nothing to do with Adam's sexuality. This is all made up assumption by fans that now turned into facts. I can see why his fans get accused of throwing the homophobia out there because they base all their assumptions on no facts. Z100 and KISS were already on board for WWFM because that was always the intended single and plan for RCA. ETA: Sam Smith was used as an example because he happens to be gay. You were trying to find a connection where there were none. I also don't buy the fact that Sam is a "safe" gay and Adam is not. Sam puts out good music that radio wants to play. If Sam put out a Britny Spears reject like FYE as his first single radio wouldn't have jumped on that either. Adam has a small group of fans who all fit the same profile. Idol fans, middle age women who play mommy and make Adam out to be a victim every damn time. Everybody screwed up but Adam. Adam takes no blame or responsibility for any decisions even though we know he had a hand in a lot of decision making starting with his album cover. Blah, Blah, Blah. I wish fans would stick to facts unless you have some hard evidensce to prove your theories. FYE was not a good single period.

I thought it was a good single, but wasn't it the performance that halted its chances? So much bad press.

As in many cases, a confluence of things: image was an issue, with flamboyance in the cover, then the fact that this was a dance pop single by a male act, and then the lyrics which could easily be interpreted as soft core gay sex with Adam proclaiming his being a surprising top. Sort of a great buildup to the AMA performance that sort of confirmed all gay-related especulations

I thought it was a good single, but wasn't it the performance that halted its chances? So much bad press. Adam first single got delayed because RCA wanted WWFM and Adam and 19R(Idol Recording) and 19M(Idol management) wanted FYE as the single. Adam wanted bells and whistles for his AMA performance and WWFM didn't with the whole "Glam Rock" image Adam was puting out there at the time. Adam announced on 10/28/2009 that FYE was going to be the first single. Z100 added WWFM on Nov 18, 2009. The AMA performance was November 22, 2009. So the decision to move on to WWFM was made very quickly before the AMA. Adam's image (OTT flamboyant gay Glam Rocker) didn't change when radio moved on to WWFM. FYE was not a good first single to introduce Adam to the public and RCA knew it. So I'm not surprise radio wasn't on board with FYE because RCA most likely made it known neither were they.

I don't think FYE is a bad single, but it was a bad chose for a first single. And yes, in that case Adam's sexuality have something to do with the bad reception of the single. It's known that the label tested Fever (Gaga was a very hot artist back them) and the mere "there he goes" was enough to a lot of radios to have a bad reaction to the song. FYE was risky in terms of sound and even riskier in terms of lyrics. Now people seems to not have a problem in a male singer's song about his love to another man, but i'm not sure if radio will react as well with a song about hardcore sex, even if the singer was Sam Smith (sorry, but i find the mental image of Sam singin about a hardcore sex relationship amazing).
Adam was very popular on idol, he was not the typical singer of the show, he has a great stage presence, a big voice and his wardrobe was way flashier than the usual contestant, but the truth is people loved his tender ballads and had strong reactions (positive and negative) to the rest of his performances. A lot of people who are just out of talent shows make the mistake of wanting a departure from what they did in the show. It's true that it's important to create your artist persona and separate it from the talent show contestant, but you need to be cautious. In my opinion the first single should be exactly what your fans expect from you, a good song, of course, but that it fits with your better received performances on the show.
That didn't happened with Adam (Phillip was probably the only idol who get it right), i'm pretty sure if the label avoided the release of Time for miracles (there's no reason to waste the first impact on a non single song) and went for Whataya want from me from the beginning, the impact would be way bigger.
FYE was a risk, and the reception to his first performance was really bad (he even talked about thinking all was over before the start). Vocally was far from his best, and then it was the stupid kiss controversy. He was banned from some tv shows that didn't have a problem with schedule Chris Brown, that was hypocrisy at its finest

The assumption is from things I remember reading back during 09 where radio flat our refused to play the song because it was about rough sex. And I still maintain that had Britney or Justin Timberlake released that song it would have been a smash hit. The song is actually very good IMO and I know several people who are non-fans who still say that's the best song he has put out. If WWFM was always the intended single and plan from RCA, why even bother with FYE? why spend the money on the video? I'm curious where you gets your facts from? do you have inside information that you're privy too that the rest of us don't? I would appreciate you not presuming to know why I mentioned Sam Smith. I looked at their play list and he was the most obvious one missing. Sam couldn't pull off a song like FYE in a million years LOL Nothing you have said so far is based on anything other than your opinion, unless you have the receipts that prove your opinion is fact of course, which I would love to see if you do.

Where did you read this? Where is the proof other than speculation among fans on their fansites. Did Adam say this? Did this come from RCA on why they stop promoting it? If Britny thought FYE was a smash waiting to happen she would have recorded it since the song was intended for her. She rejected it. Adam could never make that song work live because it wasn't written for him in mind. Because Adam/19R wanted FYE the song released. It was the song he wanted to perform for the AMAs. WWFM was the single RCA had on their site as the first single with a release date. Fans found it and screencapped it. That is how we knew WWFM was the song they intended to release first. When fans asked RCAEd on AO why isn't the single being announced RCAEd said because RCA and Adam and his people couldn't decide what single to choose. RCA than removed the WWFM posting on their site a week later and Adam announce fYE. There was no harm making a video for FYE since the song was going to be pushed internationally. While WWFM was charting here in the US, FYE was being played overseas. Adam had several different songs charting at different times in different countries during era 1. So the song and video wasn't a total waste. Neither could Adam. LOL. The AMAs proved it. LOL. It was amateurish but hilarious because I LMAO. Out of all the artists not on their playlist which was pointed out to you, Sam Smith would be the one you would seek out? Someone who has had a huge era with several hits? Trying to connect the dots between Adam and Sam is what led someone to think that maybe the station was homophobic. That person has since said he based it on wrong facts given to him. It's those erroneous assumptions that has led to this discussion. It's once again putting out there misinformation based on no facts. Neither do you. You can't prove to me that FYE stopped being promoted because radio was homophobic. The song was the problem. It wasn't a good song for radio. Just like any song that doesn't get played. Radio wasn't buying Adam being the next Britny or Gaga. lol. WWFM was just the type of song radio and the public expected from Adam. Adam than went back to an OTT theatrical song "If I had You" for his 3rd single which also went nowhere on radio. Was that homophobic too? Did that had rough sex lyrics? Neither FYE or TSP albums had songs waiting to smash. The albums were good and had some good songs but the smash hits weren't there. I know this is hard for some fans to hear. There is a reason why Adam went back to Max Martin because he knows how to make hit songs that the public wants to hear.

If I had you didn't go "nowhere on radio"....fwiw, it was written and produced by Max Martin and shellback -- so he and his label tried to stay with the team that worked with wwfm for the third FYE era single...it was top 30 on hot 100, and peaked in mid teens on both us chr and hac (z100 played it a ton). It also was a top 5/10 radio, platinum or multiplatinum single in other markets like Canada and Oz..it was hardly a flop...that being said, I agree that FYE was a terrible choice for a debut single, that he has never been able to sing it well live (when you are a guy known for being a great singer, its not a great idea to have a debut single that basically can't be sung live). OFC, imo the video for that song is the best video he's ever done so I'm glad we got it..and the song actually did well in some other markets like Canada and japan....as for why the various single choices, there all sorts of fan theories all based on speculation -- nobody knows except Adam/19/RCA....enough with the homophobia stuff...its always tough to be the first, no doubt he was impacted by it era 1 to some extent (far less than the fans claiming homophobia think, probably a little more than those who think it has never been an issue at all think) -- but there were lots and lots of other factors at work too (/o\ the album cover), some of which lie squarely at Adam's feet...but at the end of the day he still had a successful album, tour and double platinum plus top 10 single (in markets all over the world)....enough with the past...loving everything I've heard from TOH era thus far!!!! Everything sounds very strong... hoping for continued forward moving for Ghost Town

Good update.
I don't know why people are rehashing FYE, but I always liked that song. Maybe not for a lead single though. And there is nothing remotely objectionable this era or even last era with his image.

FYE was a great Britney song.
Sales have jumped whenever this has had promo/gotten more airplay, so I'm not too worried about its future right now. The campaign just needs to be timed right.
