Ghost Town was great on GMA today. They added a beat to the second verse, works really well. TOH was really good too. Yes, they were good - I liked Evil in The Night too :)

Nice bounce underway has he done the Kelly and Michael show as well as GMA? He was on today - he performed Ghost Town and there was a short interview.

Looks like the next few days will be critical.

I think this song is done. The major promotion is over. I'm going to guess that the label is going to pull back support and prepare for single #2. I hope it's The Original High.

The negative is mostly if not all because of one less spin on SNOL last night. So I am curious as to why you think the song is done?

I don’t think the song is done yet. I mean, maybe it is but I think it could go either way. The latest updates haven’t been amazing, and today’s update looks particularly bad, but I think the negative update is mostly because of the lost SNOL spin. I don’t think it necessarily means it’s over on radio. It would be strange timing for radio to drop this now when its position on iTunes has increased so much. I agree with you though that I hope the next single will be The Original High. I just hope the label doesn’t rush out the next single until it’s clear that GT is done.

The unfortunate reality is that it's on a knife edge right now (:

The negative is mostly if not all because of one less spin on SNOL last night. So I am curious as to why you think the song is done? I doesn't seem to be picking up steam in the major markets, particularly New York. I thought maybe they were waiting for release week, but that has come and gone. It is going to experience pressure from several of the songs below it and the new Selena will probably blow right past it. I have watched several songs move up the chart, only to stall in the 20s, and then fall back down. Think Carly Rae Jepson, Ryn Weaver, Rihanna, Britney, Nate Ruess. So the 20s seem to be a decision point and this doesn't seem to have any momentum. There is no reason for the label to continue to push this particular song at this time. A song about desolation is not really a summer song. I will take all this back if the Cumulus stations come on board.

Well, the week was pretty terrible in terms of airplay. It's the week the song put itself in the top 50 on itunes, but airplay was really bad.
Right now half the chart is totally stalled, it's very difficult to predict which songs are going to tank and which ones are going to start to rise.
We have Stitches for example, a couple of days ago the song lost its bullet for no reason (the song was selling well for its audience) now it recovered a bit. Post to be on the other hand suddenly has really good updates. King will recover its bullet after being played at AT40.
The worst part is Ghost town has a really bad audience, there are several songs with less spins but better audience

I cant see where any new momentum will come from for this- unless there is more big promo we are not aware of.
In the end I still think it was a strange and risky debut single choice; awkward for daytime pop radio. Although to be fair the relationship with US radio seems to be have been repaired which is a good sign for single #2.
(..and if you think audience is bad in the US, in the UK GT has only received 12 spins since its release in total!)

Well I'm not holding my breath for Cumulus, they didn't add WWFM until after it had peaked I think and they could well do the same with this and it's not Idol bias for sure because they added the current Idol winner in the first week.
Z100 has been back and forth but hasn't had it higher than about 16 in it's playlist I think. They were down a little this week but KIIS in LA was actually up a bit. Nobody has put it into high rotation but the spins seem pretty balanced across the board so plenty of room for improvement. It doesn't really seem like there has actually been a really big push yet but maybe that will happen now to hopefully help the album over the next few weeks. I'll be the first to admit that I don't follow this other than for Adam so I'm not really up on how it goes but it seems to have been much more balanced overall than any of his previous radio experiences so even if the song does stall now it doesn't seem like it will leave a bad taste in the mouth for radio. If it does start to fall I kind of hope WBR follows quickly with TOH for the next single as that's the one with the best itunes performance.

There is indeed plenty of room for improvement, the question is whether enough of the current spinners have the will to up their airplay and/or whether enough new stations are ready to come on board - there are indications that the answer just might be no. From what I can see it could go either way at this juncture - as a fan I'd much rather be aware of that than risk an unpleasant surprise.

GT has been #43 on the sales only chart for two weeks but has no streaming. Radio focus date is in July.
Saw a mention on twitter that he is doing a promo visit at a DC Cumulus station. Fingers crossed that they actually come on board.

i'll never understand pop radio's adversity with him. same here. He's very talented, seems like a very nice guy, always gives great interviews to radio and has one of the best voices around.

i'll never understand pop radio's adversity with him. Not true for GT. If anything radio has played it more than it's sales warrant.

True, but radio had really little patience with the song, it's barely top 30 and they seem ready to pull the plug, they had a lot more patience with songs like Stuck on a feeling or Nobody love, in that case the climb on itunes came too late, but the audience impression and chart position was way higher. Here it was like they were waiting to start to promo to stop playing the song, i expect that this could happen with bad callout scores but that's not the case right now

If anything radio has played it more than it's sales warrant. maybe I don't know enough about radio to jump in here but how would a song sell is mass quantities before it's getting good airplay on radio? especially from an artist that has basically been away from radio for over 3 years?
it's the chicken or the egg argument. Are sales based on radio play or radio play based on sales? I think it's the former and not the latter and that is why we see such a limited amount of diversity in the artists who are always topping the radio play/sales charts.

I suppose this could still pickup but it would be a surprise - albeit a pleasant one.
