He is, but with The Voice on again tonight Delta Goodrem is performing and I have concerns her performance will push her to #1 which will cut Adam off again if she spends the rest of the week there.

Yep, plus the fact Delta is Australian, was *huge about 10 years ago, the new song is in the top 10 and trending higher, if she kills it tomorrow night Adam may lose what looks like his best shot (this week) as there's next to no competition. If 1Ds song wasn't brand new and didn't have prob. crazy high front loaded sales those 2-3 days, GT prob. would've gotten it during a slower/ non competitive week. Thing is GT is on top but vulnerable. It's getting very few green updates and I agree that Delta is def. a threat esp as she's been top 10 for days I believe (while GT was floating around the top 20 before it zoomed up to #1). I agree ^ that it's all about how munch of a boost she gets and how long it lasts.

Did Delta perform on The Voice yet? If so, how is she doing on iTunes?

Yep just noticed that. Guess it'll all come down to how many green updates she gets and far ahead she pulls. While Adam was #1 for 3 days don't think he was selling that much. Most of the songs in the top 3 weren't getting green updates and were just stagnant. Seemed like a week release week. I saw her performance and it was very good. The audience and the overall response has been very positive. Also noticed Meghan Trainor saw a major boost/ green update. Did she also perform on the Voice?

regardless of whether its a weak or strong release week , or whether GT gets to number 1 this week or peaks at number 2, I think its pretty great that after basically being off radio there for 5 years, the mess of his sophomore era, and a label change that he's now having what may be his biggest hit yet there -its already his highest charting single there

Meghan didn't perform here, but one of the contestants sang 'Like I'm Gonna Lose You' so that would explain that. The other celeb performer aside from Delta was Demi Lovato.
Delta was selling half of what Adam was for 2 1/2 days leading up to the performance, so I hope she only spends a couple days on top at best before relinquishing it back to Adam.

Isn't the rule of thumb that it takes more than 1 hit song before you start to see album sales. The consensus is it takes at least 3 hit singles before the public is ready to spend money on an album. Adam isn't one of the top tier artists or a newbie with major buzz so slow and steady works for me. The album is still in top 100BB and the label is still working on the single. Adam said he has a lot of radio promo commitments for the rest of the year back in the US. Most likely there will be some Jingle Balls and more iHeart one offs which leads to radio playing those scheduled to play artists. I mean, it's not a science. One smash hit that has widespread appeal to many demos is an unestablished artist's best bet to sell albums. Then you have artists who have smashes left and right but struggle to go multi platinum. Teenage Dream yielded smash after smash, but Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour might outsell it on the strength of Stay With Me alone. Are you talking about the U.S. ? Because SAMs album was also greatly helped with I'm not the only one (another top 10 hit ) . Teenage dream is around 3 million sold. I don't see Sam catching her

I wonder why radio won't commit to this song. He has a lot of great stations on board but they won't increase the rotations to move him up. For his AI, he is selling better than other songs with twice the AI. His callouts are good. Yet, It is still getting most of its spins overnight on radio in general. It's head-scratching. Then, I'm reminded of Shawn Mendes.

Actually, they're not all that great. The song actually took a sizable hit, and now stands at: 58.4% Positive (#21) 15.3% Favorite (bottom 10) 21.2% Negative (again bottom 10, though when flipping the rankings so that the lowest is #1, this is #7) Negative isn't too bad, but the other figures need to be better. And Positive has actually decreased since it debuted. :( For his AI, he is selling better than other songs with twice the AI. Again, wrong. "Beautiful Now" and "Cheyenne" are the only two this might be selling better than at the moment, and that's only because this has two versions while they each have only one. And even then, each of their sales are quite low for being #16 and #21 in airplay, respectively. It's not like Adam's position is much better. The unfortunate truth is that in fact it is quite fortunate for this song's own fate that it's continuing to hang on.

Part of me thinks it's time to let ghost town go and get on with single #2. These up and down updates are ridiculous. The song has done its job of getting him back on radio. It just doesn't seem like it's going to blow up and other songs probably have more potential to do that.
What do you guys think single #2 will/should be?
I think it should be rumors but I think it will be another lonely night or the original high.

This update on Pop is right in the pattern as last week he had the highest plus of the week here. So I'm not at all surprised at the negative. Wednesday morning was also pretty big last week then the rest of the week was more moderate. This has been the pattern for this song pretty much all along. +81 last week to -11 today at least the negative is small. :)

Bring on the smash hit to be "The Light" or "Evil in the Night"

I really love this song, and I want it to do well, but I’m getting the feeling that maybe it has gone as far as it can. And that’s not even a bad thing - like you said, it has already done its job. It outpeaked and outlasted the singles from his previous album, it re-introduced him to the radio and the public, and it has done well enough for radio to give his next single a chance. As for the next single, I’ve been thinking about the same songs you mentioned. Rumors does seem like a song that has to be a single at some point. It’s not necessarily one of my favourites on the album, but I think it could do well on the radio. But they have to be careful with the timing - if it has to compete with Tove’s own single, radio might be reluctant to play this one. And I’m not sure what releasing Rumors would mean for Adam’s promo opportunities. Since it’s a duet, how would live performances work without Tove?

And I’m not sure what releasing Rumors would mean for Adam’s promo opportunities. Since it’s a duet, how would live performances work without Tove? good point about promo for rumors. If it's the third or fourth single promo won't be as big of an issue because hopefully Adam will be on tour and most artists don't promo their third and fourth singles.
I'd love to see The Light as a single but I don't see it happening because it's such a heavy dance track.
I think Another Lonely Night and The Original High are in line for singles so it'll just depend which direction they want to go in. For Fall I think ALN makes the most sense because it's kinda moody and darker whereas TOH would work as a single leading into next spring.
My perfect singles list would be
1. Ghost Town (only cuz they did it without asking me LOL) 2. ALN or Underground 3. Things I didn't Say (I think this could be a real sleeper hit) 4. Rumors 5. TOH
yes, I know it's ambitious to want 5 singles but there are so many great songs on this album I'm really hoping we see that happen.

I liked this, but it's really burning on me now. After a while of it being spinned a ton on the stations I listen to, it just gets old. It's different, though, so I'm sort of disappointed that it probably won't go any further.

Australia has like one of the most stagnant/ non competitive iTunes charts now. Appears that Delta (even w/ a pretty weak song) is holding up since The Voice boost Sunday/Monday with about a 30% lead. Though think I read she's promoting the song hard all over. Neither she or Adam are getting green updates but I'm thinking if she holds on another two days w/ the same kind of lead she may squeak out #1 (mainly due to having that 1 extra day of being #1 on iTunes). Also, that Lost Frequencies song is now super close now to #2 and gaining.
I 'think' Adams best chances were last week followed by this week. If it wasn't for those 2.5 days of frontloaded sales for 1D and Delta he most likely would've gotten at least 2 weeks at #1. Like others said, at least chart wise it's his biggest performer there. Dunno what's getting released next week though.
