If Riptide does not go recurrent, it will tie the record or longest stay in the Hot 100 peaking outside the top 20 (Moving Pictures set the record in the 80s peaking at #29 for 43 weeks - at this time it was the longest stay in the Hot 100 period which has been passed many times since)Seeing as this was also with two chart runs, would "Riptide" already have the mark for a single chart run? A certain song held the record for longest stay in Hot 100 without hitting top 20 until it finally does, but yeah, I think Riptide have the record.

So many records...speaking of which, Sugar is a contender for that good old Starships record (as I like to call it because I feel the official name for it is rather ambiguous lol) It's only 8 weeks away from tying it and still in the top 3. I'm pretty sure it'll match Payphone with 19 weeks.

Moot point in 2 weeks since this has enough life in it to go a while, it seems....but yes

Uh...SUAD topped the Alternative chart not too long ago. You can't just write it off and say it's not Alt when something like that happens. Yeah, true...so if "Alt Rock" stations were spamming it, that's not Billboard's call. I guess I just don't have a great understand of what "Alt" encompasses, then? SUAD just sounds like 80's-influenced pop/rock to me. Lyrically, it wouldn't have sounded out of place on 1D's last two albums. Well, what is "alt" changes just like what is "country" changes. What gets played on "alt" radio now isn't the same as when Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc. were charting in the '90s.

About American Oxygen... why it isn't higher on iTunes? I think BBHMM topped the chart faster. Apart from the reasons already mentioned, it could just be fatigue. It's already the third new song from her in a short period, so of course interest won't be the same as it was for her first new single in over a year.

The problem with Riptide was the label not pushing it to CHR earlier than it did. It peaked at rock airplay months before it was pushed to CHR, and the single peaked in sales in between dying at rock and picking up steam at pop. The airplay/sales points never aligned properly for the song to achieve a better peak on the Hot 100, which is why it has only hung around the 30's. Such a shame because I really liked this song and hoped it could achieve the same success as The Lumineers with Ho Hey. I wonder if Mess Is Mine will get any CHR push?

Just asking because Iggy and Macklemore have both topped hip-hop/r&b songs before, and I'm sure you guys know by now how most hip-hop/r&b fans feel about that... Yeah, those chart toppers don't satiate me as an R&B fan. Nor does John Legend's "All Of Me" which is basically an Adele adult contemporary ballad that happens to be sung by a black man. Nor does Pharrell's "Happy" which is a pop ditty from a children's movie with some mild R&B touches of the retro nature. I want some fresh, inventive, forward thinking R&B back on top! You must be young. Happy is about as perfect R&B as you can get.

I can name at least two songs that missed the top 20 and spent 44 weeks on the chart ("Come To My Window" and "Haven't Met You Yet"), so there's still about 2 weeks to tie those.

If "Style" falls off the top 10,Taylor's weeks in the top 10 with three songs[Shake It Off,Blank Space,Style] will be over. This has to be the longest streak for a artist for most weeks in the top 10 straight since Rihanna or Katy Perry. It's too bad that Bad Blood remix is about a month away, the streak for Taylor could of been for a year if that happened.

Ariana has one that also last 30+ weeks until Love Me Harder fell out from top 10. Style actually might have a chance to hold at #10 next week, depending on whether Somebody and Want To Want Me will gain enough to push Style down or not.

You are correct. I remember we discussed this in a different thread a few weeks ago. I remembered it wrong. We weren't talking about missing the top 20, I think we were talking about missing the top 25.
Oops well sorry about that.
Edit: just looked it up. 44 is indeed the record for missing the top 20. (The songs mentioned reached 24 ad 25)
Moving Pictures reached 29, Riptide reached 30 so however you want to slice it, based on peak position, Riptide already has a longevity record of a sort.

Sail peaked at #20 after 54 weeks being below top 20. If it's counted as the longest stay below top 20.

Want To Want Me has been (floating around) #6 on iTunes for the past few days and will be top 10 on radio tomorrow, I think top 10 on the Hot 100 next week is guaranteed for the most part (unless its radio collapses before Wednesday).
Nice to see LMLYD reach #1 on pop! I wasn't sure if it'd make it. I think Earned It is the biggest chance of going #1 next (and on Overall AI). Seeing as it's 5184 spins away and LMLYD is still (barely) increasing, it should make at least two weeks at #1. Hopefully OLT can hold on and UF can somehow fall 840 spins by Monday so OLT can get a week at #6! I think it has peaked on Overall AI
Just found this.. weird to think nearly a year later he has a #1 song

Revised prediction (since SUAD is predicted 147k rather than 195k now by Kworb):
1. See You Again (40-50% lead) 2. Uptown Funk 3. Earned It 4. Sugar 5. Trap Queen 6. Shut Up And Dance (though I hope it'll be higher) 7. Love Me Like You Do 8. Thinking Out Loud 9. GDFR (due to having been taken off iTunes for a short time as well as overall weaker sales...hoping this still climbs higher than #8!) 10. Want To Want Me (or Somebody)
