Yeah, "See You Again" will notch its second week with ease. No question about it.
All eyes looking for the next competitor now!

"Pretty Girls" ;)
I'd like for it to be SUAD, but idk if it can hold out until SYA loses its massive sales + streaming lead (and by then, SYA may have caught up in airplay.)

What would allow "Trap Queen" to get a week at #1? It's behind "SYA" in sales and streams, and it's airplay isn't overly great.
Speaking of "SYA," did Wiz not help write it? He isn't listed as a writer on the Wikipedia page for the song, but I know that site can be sketch.

I think people mean if SYA decreases a lot in the next few weeks (not this week) it could fall below Trap Queen. I personally don't think TQ will get #1, but I'm not sure because it surprisingly jumped above Earned It on the Hot 100 this week, which seemed to be the most likely future #1.

I think next contenders for #1 are SUAD, maybe Trap Queen, also if the song/remix and video is great for Pretty Girls and Bad Blood then those can challenge too

Mariah's new single as a contender, hopefully. She's back with Sony, her old 90s label. They will do anything to bring back her huge 90s day.

I'm actually surprised that there are co-writers, because there have been interviews (including the MTV one) where he's basically talked about it being a Paul Walker tribute that HE wrote. There's no real talk of collaboration.

LOL, Mariah has failed to garner any kind of relevancy on the charts since 2010. There is no reason to believe her next will any kind of significant impact. Additionally, she has never been a strong digital seller, a critical component of the chart. The best she can hope for is that the song reignites some interest in her brand and she charts top 20.

I just noticed that "Uptown Funk" had its first audience loss of over 3 million today. About time! I'm dreaming of when I can turn the radio on in my car and not constantly have to change the station because of that song following me around.

Try being the only African American in a post-wedding reception hall full of Catholic Mexicans in Laredo TX and being called out to dance to this, since it was the only thing Non-Country, Tejano, Combia, and Rock-related, and slipping and falling on the dance floor after a brilliant James Brown split. Oh and your pants ripped like rip-off jogging suit pants. The short-of-it-all, I hate this f#cking song now and it's taking too long to die.

If UF continues with steep declines like today, it's possible it could fall out of the top 2 in 2 weeks. If that happens, means they would've just tied the record, not broken it. Veery big difference in tying vs breaking. My gut is telling me radio has finally had it w/ the song and are simply following the decline on iTunes that's been happening for 2 weeks now. Question is though what song could possibly take over #2 next. I don't think SYA is leaving #1 anytime soon at all. Its getting very good radio gains and will prob. soon start to get massive radio gains. So, between its sales, and huge streaming and soon to be radio gains I predict another possible UF situation lol. It has that sound, impact and most importantly *multi-format appeal which you MUST have to get 10+ weeks at #1.

Personally I like SYA (as a song, not as a cheap scheme to make money off a dead guy) but hope it doesn't get more than 3-4 weeks at #1. The alternative curse must be broken. Bad enough that Blank Space blocked Take Me To Church a few months ago and I would hate to see SYA do the same to SUAD.

I can think of at least four R&B/Hip-Hop songs that reached #1 within the last year, and many more that made the top 10 (well at least Billboard considers them R&B/Hip-Hop)

I think R&B fans suffer the most because it was a really dominant genre on the hot 100 during a lot of years

A quick glance at the R&B/soul top 10 on iTunes, we see Yeah by Usher at #10 and Stand By Me by Ben E King is at #14. That should give an idea about current popularity

Wasn't Yeah! like #2 or #3 on the decade-end chart? I know it was huge and even now I still hear it on CHR from time to time.

Re: Genre classifications - isn't classifying "Shut Up And Dance" as "Alternative" quite the stretch? It sounds mighty poppy to my ears, with an 80's/new wave bent.
