I'm not a country fan (most of country songs bore me) but Girl Crush is awesome, I hope it can be the "Need You Now" of 2015. Still needs more airplay and good sales (is #2 on iTunes because the ACM) Right now, Sam Hunt's Take Your Time is more poised for that title :) . I agree that Girl Crush is an amazing song though.

In actuality, that's due to instant grat/singles released today/yesterday:
3. Make it Rain (The Voice) 5. Hallelujah 6. Iris (The Voice) (10. Uptown Funk at the moment) (11. She Bad at the moment)
So really, it's more like #7, and #6 if you account for Girl Crush being inflated beyond its usual top 15 by the ACM. Personally, I start considering rankings as they're depicted by Saturday since if there are any of said grat/new/inflated songs still in the top 10, then they have legs to have a normal run.

I don't get the apparent crossover appeal of Girl Crush. I know it got a big boon from its ACM performance, but of all the songs performed, for that to have caught on with a wider audience is really weird to me.

Anyone have any idea why Honey I'm Good is so high in sales? It's just an ok song and no way near as good as a couple on his debut album. Is it getting a lot of AirPlay? Is there a cool video for it? What's causing such high sales? According to HDD, he's been posting sales increases for 7 straight weeks with it (last week he was up 10% to 68k). He's been doing some TV promo. He did Meredith Veira on 4/7 and the Late Late Show on 4/14. Neither are huge viewer draws, but it's something. Plus he's top 10 on HAC

Well, i love Girl crush (but i loved other LBT songs before). Curiously the whole controversy ended in their benefit

Well, i love Girl crush (but i loved other LBT songs before). Curiously the whole controversy ended in their benefit It's because the controversy is pretty mild by today's standard. Even though I'm only 14, pretty sure the backlash will be much bigger if this kind of song came out (No pun intended) 20 years ago.

Well, i love Girl crush (but i loved other LBT songs before). Curiously the whole controversy ended in their benefit The irony is that it is a FALSE controversy - the writers and LBT have gone on record that it's about jealousy, not lesbians. Weird. (As far back as December in Rolling Stone interview where they discuss the writing process. "I'd never heard a jealousy song written like this" - Karen Fairchild.

No the controversy was real, because there were calls to the stations to stop playing the song. The problem is people with lack of basic comprehension unable to understand the lyrics. It seems the controversy was a little exagerated, but it was real And the singer said it better, it's a song about jealousy, but if it was a lesbian song, it shouldn't be a problem either

But whatever, its country radio. They've had campaigns to yank songs over less controversial topics.

It's probably because country music fans so rarely hear female singers that it was a shock in itself. And, yeah, as Fairchild noted in an interview - even if it was a lesbian or bi or IKAG type song, it shouldn't matter. I'm all down for controversy, even if it's false!

Wasn't HWME stuck at #2 for like a month? I remember it staying in the top 10 for like 3 months due to it crossing over top pop.

The song has been holding steadily for like a month now, but it seems airplay will never catch up in time. How is it doing on radio right now? Right now it's Num.25 at CHR. I think it's Rythmic that's holding it back right now. I believe it's been said that it's kind of flopping at this format unless it picked up in the last 2 weeks.

I just don't see SYA maintaining big enough sales and streaming for the next 8-9 weeks to stay at #1 the whole time... I thought the same for Uptown Funk lol. I think it's a waste of time predicting more than a week (or two at max) bc of how quick stuff can change
