While I think it's very doubtful, its possible SYA is just a overally hyped song from the hottest current movie in the world but it def appears to be more than a front loaded/ gimmicky thing. Sales are still holding up incredibly well *mainly just from the movie (not from what's looking to be **mega multi format radio support...yet). The fact its so far ahead so quickly may make one think it's gonna peak then fall early and not become a mega #1 for god knows how many weeks. I'm just looking at the early advantages it has and the fact there's just no major competition in sight or any upcoming releases (that I know of) from any mega/A+ list singers. Anyways, UF has like 0 shot now of getting anywhere close to #1 again lol. As I said, esp. with it only being Tues, the fact its falling off a cliff, it's def. possible it will fall out of the top 2 next week. Thinking maybe Earned It or something else has a shot if things continue this way the next 4-5 days.

No the controversy was real, because there were calls to the stations to stop playing the song. The problem is people with lack of basic comprehension unable to understand the lyrics. It seems the controversy was a little exagerated, but it was real And the singer said it better, it's a song about jealousy, but if it was a lesbian song, it shouldn't be a problem either Yep, I remember they released the lyric video in response to the fact that listeners weren't getting it. It's probably because country music fans so rarely hear female singers that it was a shock in itself. And, yeah, as Fairchild noted in an interview - even if it was a lesbian or bi or IKAG type song, it shouldn't matter. I'm all down for controversy, even if it's false! Isn't country most popular in the south, where people are a little more conservative? I love the song!' Hope it crosses over to pop. Sam's team needs to hurry up and send Take Your Time to Pop (or get a deal if it has) bc it's started decreasing on Country and isn't doing much on HAC (although when I went to NY two weeks ago it was the first song I heard in Dunkin' Dounts, along with Night Changes so I doubt it was a country station)

There are more country stations than any other format in the US and they are everywhere.

If it gets 10 weeks, we would have a situation where 3 songs have occupied the #1 spot for half a year. black eyed peas did it with 2 If only UF would've reached #1 a bit earlier...

black eyed peas did it with 2 If only UF would've reached #1 a bit earlier... This, or if SYA only came out just 2-3 weeks later lol. I truly wonder now how much of a negative impact SYA made on UF . Meaning would UF started to plummet like this now if SYA never came along or would it have stayed stable like it was for the longest time. I have a feeling since there was no competition it only wouldve fueled UF more w/ hype about it coming close to the record vs radio and the public flushing it now (but, again, will never know). Its looking like it def. wouldve tied OSD but not 100% now that it wouldve beaten it (based on what's going on now).

I really don't get where this idea is coming form that UF is plummetting at some supersonic rate. On iTunes, #2 was a massively watched ACM performance that got a lot of press yeterday, #3 and #4 are Voice performances, #6 is Panic! at the Disco's new single that isn't going to stay there for very long. UF is at #10 right now. Take the 4 artificially inflated songs out and its at #6. That's not awful for a song that 5 months old. It's only potentially dropping from 1 to 4 at radio because of how close together the top 4 all are right now, not because it's drops are anything bigger than other big multiformat hits that are nearing the end of their runs, and it's still top 5 on Spotify and i'm sure still streaming heavily on YouTube and other services.

I don't get the apparent crossover appeal of Girl Crush. I know it got a big boon from its ACM performance, but of all the songs performed, for that to have caught on with a wider audience is really weird to me. I think people just like the song. It has a sparse, bluesy production, an interesting lyric, and a terrific lead vocal. I don't know that you can say it has "crossover appeal" just because it's #2 on iTunes (all of its sales could be from country music fans for all we know), but I'd love it if the song is crossing over. Funny that "UF" could fall 1-4 tomorrow.

not too sure how much I know about this but "Girl Crush" has always seemed like it has a somewhat poppy beat (not as far as for me to say it wasn't country, and even if I didn't consider it that it's not sam hunt levels honestly) that wouldn't feel out of place on pop radio

If you look back on the recent charts, it seems songs are lasting (a lot) longer at #1, but other songs are spending less time in the top 10. Also, the call outs look very interesting! Night Changes and Riptide super high.
Prediction:
#1 See You Again #2 Uptown Funk #3 Trap Queen #4 Sugar #5 Earned It #6 Shut Up & Dance #7 Love Me Like You Do #8 Want To Want Me #9 GDFR #10 Thinking Out Loud

This thread is so boring on weeks where everything is easily predictable. Well...Wiz getting a second week at No. 1 isn't exactly something that's gonna send Pulse into a flurry (unless he was blocking a diva from a No. 1 debut.) ;) Brit's new single is less than 2 weeks away, so this calm won't be lasting for long.

wasn't the sAme said about work bitch and we know how that turned out lol Do you mean its chances at No. 1 - or the liveliness of the Hot 100 thread? I wouldn't hold my breath on it debuting at No. 1, but I think this thread will be much more lively regardless.

Radio needs to pick up on Worth It before sales die :'( Why isn't rhythmic going crazy for this Rhythmic isn't happening. It couldn't even get to Top 25 with On the Verge airplay. And as much as I find these girls endearing, I don't blame rhythmic -- songs like this are a dime a dozen at that format (and they're usually better). The hope is that it can outpeak Sledgehammer on pop.

+ 23 NE Not Myself Tonight - Christina Aguilera one of the most underrated diva singles ever... one of Xtina's best songs, sad because Gaga comparison and Madonna comparison killed her comeback momentum :'(

Wiz Khalifa's 'See You Again' Tops Hot 100 for Second Week "The 'Furious 7' hit, featuring Charlie Puth, maintains a wide lead atop the chart. Plus, Ellie Goulding's 'Love Me Like You Do' takes over atop Radio Songs. Wiz Khalifa's Furious 7 soundtrack smash "See You Again," featuring Charlie Puth, spends a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding crowns the Radio Songs chart with "Love Me Like You Do" from another hit movie, Fifty Shades of Grey. Lights, camera, action! As we do each Wednesday, let's roll through the songs in the top 10, and a bit beyond, on the sales/airplay/streaming-based Hot 100 (dated May 2). " Again," released on Atlantic Records and promoted to radio by Roadrunner Promotions, logs a third week at No. 1 on the Digital Songs chart despite a 19 percent drop to a still-hefty 375,000 downloads sold in the week ending April 19, according to Nielsen Music. The sum is the seventh-best for a song this year; its total of 464,000 the week before is the year's top weekly total, powered heavily by the April 6 premiere of the song's official video. It additionally passes 1 million downloads sold to-date. "Again" notches a second week at No. 1 on both Streaming Songs (24.6 million U.S. streams, down 1 percent) and the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (8.7 million, up 14 percent). Airplay is quickly catching up: "Again" vaults 49-18 in its second week on Radio Songs with a 104 percent surge to 48 million all-format impressions, granting the song top Airplay Gainer honors on the Hot 100. "Again" concurrently rules Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and Hot Rap Songs charts for a second week each. Continuing to help fuel the song's success: Furious 7 keeps dominating at the box office, having now passed a staggering $1.1 billion in worldwide receipts since its April 3 opening, according to Box Office Mojo. "Again" tops the Hot 100 with roughly the same points difference (1.5-to-1) as last week over runner-up for a second week " Uptown Funk!," by Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars (with both songs down 8 percent in overall activity). "Funk" dropped 1-2 last week after leading for 14 weeks, tying for the second-longest command in the Hot 100's 56-year history. (The record for longest reign still belongs to Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's "One Sweet Day": 16 weeks at No. 1 in 1995-96.) "Funk" slips 1-3 on Radio Songs after 12 weeks at No. 1 (143 million, down 9 percent). It dips 2-3 on Digital Songs (128,000, down 12 percent) and keeps at No. 3 on Streaming Songs (14 million, down 4 percent). Notably, just two songs have ascended to No. 1 on the Hot 100 in 2015, tying the lowest rate of turnover atop the tally through a year's first chart dated in May. Two No. 1s had also risen to the summit in that span in 1996: following "One Sweet Day," which reached No. 1 on Dec. 2, 1995, Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" began a six-week lead (March 23, 1996) and Carey's follow-up, "Always Be My Baby," ruled the charts dated May 4 and 11, 1996. Below the top two on the Hot 100, The Weeknd's " Earned It (Fifty Shades of Grey)" reaches a new peak, jumping 6-3 and adding top Streaming Gainer kudos. The soundtrack single zips 9-4 on Streaming Songs with a 65 percent increase to 10.3 million, surely aided in part by momentum gained following his buzzy, show-closing April 11 set at Coachella. On Radio Songs, "Earned" pushes 5-4 with a 15 percent gain to 142 million. The song holds at No. 6 on Digital Songs (107,000, down 8 percent). It leads the Hot R&B Songs chart for a fourth week. Fetty Wap's "Trap Queen" retreats from its No. 4 high to No. 5 on the Hot 100, but makes across-the-board gains. It stays at No. 2 on Streaming Songs (16.6 million, up 4 percent), bounds 7-4 on Digital Songs (114,000, up 1 percent) and grows 17-14 on Radio Songs (56 million, 15 percent). In addition to The Weeknd's hit, Ellie Goulding's fellow Fifty Shades of Grey single "Love Me Like You Do" rebounds 7-6 on the Hot 100 after peaking at No. 3 and checks off a new milestone: "Love" is now the most-heard song in the country, rising 3-1 on Radio Songs with a 2 percent gain to 145 million in audience. As previously reported, the tune also reaches No. 1 on the Pop Songs airplay chart. "My song is number 1 at radio here in the U.S and I can't help but be so elated about it," she tweeted. "It's pretty damn special what we've done!" Goulding celebrates her second Radio Songs leader: her debut hit "Lights" led for five weeks in 2012 (and peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100). Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10, Ed Sheeran's "Thinking Out Loud" descends 5-7 after peaking at No. 2 for eight weeks. It tops Adult Contemporary for a seventh week; Walk the Moon's "Shut Up and Dance" lifts 9-8 on the Hot 100 and leads Hot Rock Songs for a fourth week; Flo Rida's "G.D.F.R.," featuring Sage the Gemini and Lookas, falls from its No. 8 Hot 100 peak to No. 9; and Natalie La Rose's "Somebody," featuring Jeremih, returns to its highpoint, and the Hot 100's top 10, rebounding 11-10.In highlights below the Hot 100's top tier, Jason Derulo's "Want to Want Me" edges 12-11, Ariana Grande's "One Last Time" rises 15-13 and Rihanna's "B**** Better Have My Money" reaches a new peak, jumping 21-17 in its fourth week. More details on noteworthy action below the top 10 in the weekly "Hot 100 Chart Moves" column to post on Friday (April 24)."
