If the producer wants to be known as an artist and eventually sell an album, he'll be credited first: David Guetta ft Zedd ft Tiesto ft Martin Garrix ft Etc. If he sells his song to an artist he may still require to be credited if he wants the exposure (especially if its a single): Ariana Grande ft Zedd, Rihanna ft Calvin Harris, Flo-Rida ft David Guetta, etc. If he sells his song and wants to remain anonymous (or has no interested in being credited on that particular song) then it'll remain just the singer credited. This mostly applies to how EDM artists have always worked, mostly because they dj those songs too. Pop and urban producers have no interest in selling albums or djing. Well, at least they give credit to the singer not like Avicii. I think it's a big difference between dj and producer. The producer can be very very important for an artist but in the end he is working for that artist, so he receive his credit with the writers, a dj is supposed to be the "artist" and the singer is an instrument on the song so there's a reason to put the featured. Of course in some cases "with" will be more apropiate, not only in La, la, la case, but in Titanium or She wolf. Frankly, if Sia or Sam were more known by the time of the collaboration (of a song were they have writing credits) i think the term used would be with instead of featuring

Of course in some cases "with" will be more apropiate, not only in La, la, la case, but in Titanium or She wolf. Frankly, if Sia or Sam were more known by the time of the collaboration (of a song were they have writing credits) i think the term used would be with instead of featuring I think in most cases they just put the lead as whoever has it on their album. I know there are many, many cases where a hit collab ends up on both albums (I could probably think of a dozen off the top of my head), but usually there's one artist who "releases" it, so they become the lead artist. Like in the case of La La La it was clearly a Naughty Boy single, at least from the UK perspective (where Naughty Boy is more famous). The song went international afterwards but I don't think they expected it to. Same with the Sia examples you gave, I think even if Sia was this famous back in 2011 she still would've been a feature since the song was clearly being "released" by David Guetta. I'm probably not making sense, but basically you can tell by the timing of the single's release who it is that's releasing it. Another example is Miami 2 Ibiza by Swedish House Mafia/TInie Tempah. They were both credited as the lead, and it was on both their albums, but it was clearly more of a Swedish House Mafia single because of the timing, Tinie Tempah had release a single 2 weeks before Miami 2 Ibiza came out, whilst Miami 2 Ibiza was timed a few months after the previous SHM single. Or another example is Bang Bang, whilst that song has three lead artists, the release of it was timed to fit in with Jessie J's album campaign, rather than Nicki's or Ariana's. I don't think it's that much of an issue anyway, people usually give credit to the featured artists anyway (except when Christina Aguilera is a feature apparently, then the Lady Gaga fans choose to try and ignore it since it ruins the little fantasy that they used to have that Gaga destroyed her career).

Side note on Sia -- she actually requested NOT to be credited on Wild Ones, and the vocal on Titanium was actually her demo vocal (I think it was originally supposed to be Mary J. Blige) so she had not planned to appear on either single. Likewise Ke$ha asked to be removed from the credit on Right Round.
Anyway, the point I was making with La La La was not about the merits of that particular song's billing, but just making the point that even when a song has a defined __ feat __ credit, that can still change. It's all political. It really tells you nothing about how much each artist contributed.

Never realized Kim Carnes had more than one top ten hit! She had three (More Love, DFILWAD, BDE) + two #15 (Crazy in the Night, What about Me?). 11 total Top 40 singles. 20 singles charted on H100. She was a lot more than BDE.

The sales estimates give me hope that Britney and Iggy's pretty girls should have no problem getting top 3 in digital sales. I hope the BBMAs promo can keep the momentum of the song going after it's released next week

If this weren't a "Voice" performance that will wither away by tomorrow, Sawyer Fredericks might very well be the person topple the Wiz for Mark G. But alas, it is TV show driven and will be short term

Shame for it that it's not getting high airplay to accompany the sales otherwise it would be a contender for top 10 even. Prediction: 1. See You Again (50% lead) 2. Uptown Funk! (And that would've broken the record... :( ) 3./4. Earned It/Trap Queen 5. Sugar 6. Shut Up And Dance 7. GDFR 8. Love Me Like You Do 9. Want To Want Me 10. Somebody

I actually think "Earned It" will move up to #2 this week. It's going to be ahead of "Uptown Funk" both digitally and in airplay next week and they're neck-and-neck in streaming with "Earned It" gaining.

I actually think "Earned It" will move up to #2 this week. It will need to have come within 1.5 million streams of UF this week in order to pass it. They're about even in sales thanks to the Friday-Saturday weekly boost for UF (maybe even a little ahead). The airplay lead for EI isn't that big. But maybe if EI grew in streaming this week somehow (or UF took a nosedive in streaming) then it's possible...

The airplay lead for EI isn't that big. But maybe if EI grew in streaming this week somehow (or UF took a nosedive in streaming) then it's possible... The streaming chart last week had UF at #3 and EI at #4, with EI jumping 5 spots. That's because EI tumbled 4-9 the previous week (LMLYD fell 5 spots too I think...maybe something to do with the FSOG soundtrack?), not because it's on the rise. UF and EI had nearly 4M difference in streams, despite being separated by just one position on the chart.

i think it was on dancing with the stars. K that makes more sense. I'm glad he has a hit song cuz he got robbed with Keep Your Head Up. Just seems really random.
