I honestly wasn't a fan of Meghan's output from her debut album - but this tongue-in-cheek throwback to the late 90s/early 00s pop sound (lyrically it reminds me of Destiny's Child and the production is a splash of Britney and a dash of the boy bands) is actually doing it for me.  It's fun and nostalgic in a more relatable way than her 50s/60s-inspired prior singles - for me anyway.

Being someone who's always found Destiny's Child pretty annoying... Yeah, this does nothing for me. Not a huge fan of early 2000s production either (feels like kind of a dead zone between the mid-90s and mid-2000s), but still better than her other songs in that department.

Yeah... Maybe this song just isn't for me, since I don't even really like the source material. Though unlike Dear Future Husband and Marvin Gaye, I can at least understand how people would like it.

Maybe The Hills could beat it, but the other two would be extremely hard because of the weeks at #1 deficit.

On the subject of No, it does seem like a pretty drastic departure from her previous style. I wish she would have stayed along those lines. I'm feeling a lot of early 2000s boy band, Maroon 5 vibes from No, which I don't necessarily dislike, but it's just the song isn't that great.

I quite like the sound for NO, but I find the lyrics pretty annoying. It's like she was trying to write another "relevant" feminist anthem after AATB, but it's like she hasn't much to say really and the lyrics end up loking like something a teenage girl would write on her facebook ("If I want a man, then I'mma get a man, but it's never my priority.") My sign is no? Really?

It's funny because as soon as I saw Meghan Trainor had a new song out called "No" I could bet it would be about date rape, "no means no" or something of the sort. She's just that predictable.
