Early predictions 1. Work 2. 7 Years 3. Stressed Out 4. My House 5. Love Yourself 6. NO 7. Pillowtalk (pls die) 8. Me Myself and I (die) 9. Cake By The Ocean 10. ITAPII 11. Sorry 12. Work From Home 13. Dangerous Woman 14. One Call Away 15. Hands to Myself 32. Team 40. Be Alright Good prediction! I wish Work From Home can go to top 10 the week after this. Such a solid track! Work's gonna end up 7-10 weeks at no.1? 8 or 9 seem ideal for the song. I hope Stressed Out at least collect 20 weeks in top 10, Love Yourself looking to get 23 weeks out of its super powerful airplay. Would be good for ITAPII to peak in top 5 for it's much more evocative and moving than 7 Years (I now think See You Again is better than this) If Sorry falls down the high tier this week then it's almost an ancient curse in effect on "21 weeks" (similar to the "14 weeks" at no.1 mass pile). Would be ideal for Dangerous Woman to top the chart quality-wise speaking, or lease peak in top 3 and higher than NO "Work" won't be #1 for that long, I'd argue that "7 Years" is right on its tail, and other than airplay, which is still gaining, I'd say it peaked on just about everything else, it should fall out of #1 within a week or two after.

Why is Love Yourself and Stitches' airplay so strong and why is Work's losing momentum already?

It's also important to keep in mind that 21 was released in 2011 (and most of its sales occurred in the couple years after that). Since album sales were obviously higher during that period, I'm sure if you "adjust" 25's sales numbers for this difference, it would already be very near or the equivalent of 21's numbers. And it's only 4-5 months into the era, it's too early to call it a "Born This Way" or underwhelming yet. Same thing goes for Hello, it's still in the top 20, it's nowhere near "dying" or over yet!!
A couple more comments about the next #1: I agree that No isn't necessarily a guarantee, even though it's a strong contender. I would say it's probably a lock for top 10 next week, but I don't know about top 5. The video doesn't seem to be very strong right out of the gate. I really think Never Forget You could be the Dark Horse for #1 very soon: it's been showing consistently strong gains in all metrics the past few weeks.

Hello vs Stitches argument here is so bizarre but funny
I really wished When We Were Young was a bigger hit though but it seems like they didn't care at all, not performing it on the Grammys was telling.
Oh well I'm not really sure if 25 will still have hit singles but to comment on the Born This Way comparison, that era had so much controversies (that provoked a Billboard 200 rule change at that) right from the start and it clearly hurt Lady GaGa's star power. As far as I can tell Adele is not suffering from any major backlash even if her 2nd single disappointed in the charts. Will Adele's next album be her ArtPop? We shall see someday

I'm really impressed with Pillowtalk's longevity so far it hasn't returned to the top 5 after debuting at #1 but didn't think it will still be in the top10 at this point just based on 1D's chart trajectory
NO is back at #1 on iTunes, seems like a pretty strong contender for next #1 7 Years is really shaping up to be one of those long staying songs that only peake at 2 or 3.
I hope Work From Home hits the top 10 pretty soon. Just glad the girls found success, I really like them in X Factor US when they sang that Ellie Goulding song

Something off-topic here: I guess Hello is going to be racing See You Again to be the first video to pass Gangnam Style for most viewed video on YouTube.

Just glad the girls found success, I really like them in X Factor US when they sang that Ellie Goulding song Work from Home is already top 10 in sales and streaming, but radio is usually too slow to give a chance to smaller acts. But they'll probably get there eventually.

It's doing quite well.

I expected Pillowtalk to dissapear after it's first week. Really good chart run so far, even if it hasn't been able to spend another week in the top 5.
I'm sure Adele could have another #1 this era if she promotes Water Under the Bridge, and does a great video to boost streaming. As for Stitches vs Hello... gotta be a joke. Hello was inescapable during it's first few weeks. Stitches did well but it peaked lower on sales, airplay, and even streaming I think. If we take into consideration album sales then it's even less of a competition.
Cake by the Ocean reminds me of Love Me Harder and Like I'm Gonna Lose You. Lots of weeks in the top 10, but it doesn't seem to be able to move above the lower half of it.

Wow! Two songs are almost guaranteed 100k this week (non-debuts) and possibly a third. This doesn't really happen that often. Any chance of a song getting two weeks with above 200k this year?

The fact that you're getting excited about 2 or 3 songs over 100k (as well as mentioning that it rarely happens) as well as a song possibly getting 2 weeks over 200k just goes to show how s**tty sales have fallen the past year or two. These feats weren't so unusual 3-4 years ago, and it's really sad to see them become the unusual in 2016.

Usually the #1 on Streaming Charts has around 20-30 million streams per week. I'm sure as years come and go, we will see it start going to 30-50 million on the average week.

Yet oddly Hello managed to sell over 1M in its first week lmao

I'd guess a couple songs will get two weeks above 200k. I just Think you need the right artist . Taylor would get it easy if she releases an album this year but that probably won't happen. Katy perry or Justin timberlake both Come to mind as artists who could pull it off with no big problem .

How well was is his sales for the singles off his last album?

Katy Perry has been absent on the chart for quite awhile already, she did make a killing in tour last year though. I'm looking forward how she will fare when she releases new stuff. After Dark Horse her next singles disappointed so not sure if she's a slamdunk next time around

* "7 Years" will be #2 this week behind work, but there is a big gap between the two. * "My House" has a shot at getting a #3 peak, before it gets overtaken by NO next week. "NO" should rank #6 this week (slim shot at entering Top-5 if it can get more streams), and will be Top-3 next week. * ITAPII should re-enter Top-10. Sorry in all likelihood will drop out of Top-10 this week, so that's 21 weeks in Top-10. * WFM is gaining in points, and may enter Top-10 in coming weeks.

NO really needs to pick up on streaming to be a #1 contender. Luckily sales and radio are both doing well for the song
