I think this year's late summer/early-to-mid fall will be similar to that of 2011: an alt song (Heathens/Pumped Up Kicks) peaking at #3 for a while behind two huge songs (Moves Like Jagger and Someone Like You/Closer and Cold Water). Except that I doubt the two songs above it will be sharing the #1 quite as equally. Cold Water will be lucky to get even one week at #1 :/ (I hope it does, or else that's gonna have to be another entry here, and not because of Closer)

But at least he has two very good songs in circulation (even if it is almost the same song). Luckily I like "Closer" much more.

Predictions: Rank | Song | Sales | Airplay | Streams | Points | 1 | Closer | 140 | 60 | 29.0 | 45,700 | 2 | Cold Water | 60 | 85 | 20.0 | 31,800 | 3 | Cheap Thrills | 50 | 150 | 12.0 | 30,500 | 4 | Heathens | 80 | 40 | 20.0 | 29,500 | 5/6 | Ride | 35 | 130 | 11.5 | 26,500 | 5/6 | This is What You Came For | 30 | 120 | 13.0 | 26,200 | 7 | Don't Let Me Down | 30 | 100 | 14.5 | 25,400 | 8 | One Dance | 25 | 110 | 13.0 | 24,600 | 9 | Send My Love | 35 | 130 | 8.5 | 24,000 | 10 | Treat You Better | 65 | 75 | 10.0 | 23,000 | 11 | Needed Me | 25 | 80 | 14.0 | 22,500 | 12 | Can't Stop The Feeling | 45 | 105 | 7.5 | 21,800 |
* Closer will again be #1 with a huge lead. Cold Water should return to #2 but the prospects of it ever getting #1 are getting bleaker. * Ride finally looks like entering Top-5 (although there is a small chance it doesn't), but it has now started declining in points. * DLMD is showing some amazing longevity. * "Treat You Better" should enter Top-10 this week, but NM will give it a tough fight. CSTF should in all probability be departing Top-10.

The only way Cold Water gets #1 at this point is if its music video comes out before that of Closer

Wow, is radio really that dead-set on replacing TIWYCF with Too Good? TIWYCF has just been dropping like a rock lately.
Btw, looks like we have a new #1 on Pop, that being Ride. Looks like it has that position locked for a couple weeks at least (until Adele completes her usual radio dominance).

If Adele does hit #1 on airplay without getting a substantially better Hot 100 peak, it'll be quite an outlier. Ne-Yo's "Closer" only hit #7 on the Hot 100 despite topping airplay, and Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" peaked at #6. I don't know offhand of a song that peaked lower than that in the past 15 years.
Edit: "Pullin' Me Back" by Chingy ft Tyrese peaked at #9 despite topping airplay, back in 2006.

Really? "We don't talk anymore" up to 13? Please keep this bland karaoke filler away from top 10.
I am not happy with "Treat you better" hitting the top 10, it's so cheesy and overdramatic. But it's arguably more enjoyable than empty WDTA. But this sadly marks the end of the brief period of time when I liked all 10 songs in the top 10.
So this was not a very good week, but I'm happy with "Closer" staying at number 1.
I am nervously awaiting for "Love on the brain". I really hope they promote it well and it will have a good start.

at least WDTA is way way way way way way way way better than OCA so happy for twenty one pilots didn't even know that no alt/rock act had ever had two songs in the top 5 simultaneously outside of the rock era
