I wonder if this could have been more impressive as a 3-song EP, with 'Take Me Home, Country Roads', 'IWALY', and 'On The Road Again' as separate songs, each getting a 3rd of the artists.
There's apparently 30 artists on one song. Could have been nice to hear more from each of them split between 3 full songs.

I mean, I'm sure everyone was asked... Even the Dixie Chicks, they are former Entertainers of the Year after all... So for the turn out to be so huge, it's just very impressive.
ETA: who was in charge of the idea of this and putting it together? They must have been ecstatic with the turn out!

What's the possibility of this becoming a performance at the actual CMA Awards? It would be such an event!
I can't think how that would work logistically though, organizing this live with 30 people on stage... still, a boy can dream! LOL

Since this is an actual radio single as well, can it get its own discussion thread? jhomes87 sabre14Edit: Thank you!

It's the CMAs, one of two events when pretty much every artist is in the same place. I have to imagine they already have a plan in place to make a live performance happen.

I'm quite surprised Kenny isn't a part of this, especially with Shane McAnally behing it.

Just looking at this on paper, it had no business working. It did and it's pretty magical! Something I'm even more amazed about is that they were able to keep it under wraps since June and were able to give it such a mysterious and intriguing roll-out. Really impressive considering there were so many moving parts. http://instagr.am/p/BKaxr5vAdQs

This is stunning. Shane's production is always very organic on the ballads. It's something I truly appreciate. I wish Shania had been a part of this. She had posted a photo on Facebook earlier last week and I thought for sure that she was going to be one of the artists. Nevertheless, BEAUTIFUL!

I really love this tribute! Glad to see it's selling so well on itunes as well. I think there's a possibility that this means that people are realizing that Country needs that Country sound. The other thing I love about this song is that it makes people aware of some good classic Country songs from back then. I wonder what they'll be doing for the music video?

These sales are incredible. Currently #3 on the all-genre iTunes songs chart! Keep climbing, little song, shoot for the #1!

Eh. This was better than I expected, but it's not something I'd listen to regularly.
I love the take on "Take Me Home Country Roads," but the mashup with "I Will Always Love You" sounds clunky to me.
George and Reba were the standouts for me. Essential Country legends right there.

It's amazing to see the overall response has been overwhelmingly positive!
I have been playing this a lot and still get chills from it.
Love that Brad led off the song. It's perfect!

This will likely OPEN or CLOSE the CMA Awards telecast. It'll be a shortlist for CMA event of the year Next Year though I suspect it'll never get anywhere near a ballot for the ACM Awards but Grammy Awards remain a possibility (though unlikely).

That would be great if it was nominated for a CMA, but it's not very likely considering that the CMAs came up with the idea. If it gets nominated at the Grammys, I will be extremely happy.

It didn't crack the Mediabase top 50 but "Forever Country" picked up a ton of spins at Country radio on Friday. There were more stations that do not appear in the above picture but it looks like 3-5 spins yesterday was a popular total.

I see this doing great on the mongrel chart. The airplay chart, not so much. This will have a short shelf life considering it's timed for the 50th C.M.A. Awards. I just don't know if country radio will jump on this (and keep playing it), despite 30 superstars being on it. Even We Are The World peaked at #76 country in 1985, despite having some country artists on it.

I don't know where its peak will be but I know it won't last too long since this was put together for the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards,

Thank you for agreeing with me. Are you feeling O.K.?
