What opinion were you expecting? Genuinely positive since this sounds very country and has loads of talent on this. But that's just me.

Oh look, another negative review link to Saving Country Music was posted. It's always inspired such great discussion in the past. What could possibly go wrong? Sorry Zack. I saw it and I wanted to share it. The next time I link something to SCM it'll be positive (note; I think Trigger is a fair ctitic and it's better to have some critical voices than none, I also would gag if there was a blog that was not but positive)

Every review I've ever seen from him has been absolutely venomous. I'm pretty sure I even saw him crap on a Kacey Musgraves song once.

Saving Country Music does literally everything but their title. Their pessimism and holier-than-thou attitude towards all things 21st century country music is annoying more than it has ever been enlightening. They stand up for the crowd they want to appeal to, which is traditionalists who stand by the more conservative and classic sounds that the genre is based upon. They actively push against the rest of the listening audience that supports the 1990s-and-onward form of country music. Their biggest problem, though, is that they report more on those 1990-and-onward artists than they do of those whom they enjoy listening to, and their listeners enjoy hearing about. Bitching about Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, etc. is fine (and I'm no stranger to it, either), but if their intent is to try and spread word of the greatness that is "traditional, classic sounds" of country music because they see it to be so much greater and grander than some random Lady Antebellum release, then why the hell do they waste countless hours and years giving negative reviews to today's most popular artists that they've never liked anyways? SCM is more of a hate blog with an ego problem than it is an actual journalistic outlet. Sorry Zack. I saw it and I wanted to share it. The next time I link something to SCM it'll be positive (note; I think Trigger is a fair ctitic and it's better to have some critical voices than none, I also would gag if there was a blog that was not but positive) Does Trigger like ANYthing? Every review I've ever seen from him has been absolutely venomous. I'm pretty sure I even saw him crap on a Kacey Musgraves song once. He liked "Something in the Water."

The color of Jamie O'Neal's coffee matches my eyes, so no. Well played. My mom always said about that line, "I certainly hope that means his eyes are brown, because I don't think I'd like my coffee to be green or blue." Also, I was almost right. Trigger gave "Biscuits" a very lukewarm review. (Personally, I didn't like "Keep It To Yourself", but whatever.)

Of all the songs in recent years, he liked THAT cliched turd?!? THAT platinum, Grammy-winning, #1 turd? Yes. Sit. Wandering further off topic, I know... I just always found SitW to be completely unoriginal, unnecessarily belty (barring my disdain for belters, it seems to me that a more intimate sound would work better for a song about something so personal), not to mention that using "Amazing Grace" in any context is one of the biggest religious cliches ever. Every time I've heard "Amazing Grace" in the media, it signals to me "This is literally the only hymn I know". "Cliched turd" was a bit strong. Anyway, getting back on topic. I honestly don't think that any artifice was intended by not having all the artists come together at the same time. Sometimes you can do that, sometimes you can't. I think the green screen stuff works just fine, and it comes up with some creative imagery that wouldn't be possible otherwise. Nor do I think that including Rascal Flatts, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, etc. on here negates the "forever country" message. All of those artists have done many songs that are unquestionably country. FGL or Sam Hunt being on this song might at least raise my eyebrow, and would certainly be more jarring than the fact that this song includes Brett Eldredge (who again, is a hell of a lot countrier than most). Also, the slam against Shane was uncalled for. I think his work with Kacey Musgraves shows that he knows how to do real country still. Or did that change too?

This is getting better and better for me with every listen. I hope that the negative updates of the last couple days are due to heavy initial airplay leveling off, and not a sign that radio won't do much for it.
I know that it's a small sample, but I'm seeing such a positive reaction to this from friends and family on social media (even from some people that I had no idea even paid attention to country music at all). I think that with the right exposure, this could really resonate with a lot of people.

Thanks. I see it's now forecasted at 90,000 units (that Billboard article wasn't up when I last checked). Will be interesting to know the real sales figure on Monday or Tuesday. 93,000 sold during the week. 5.7 million streams as well. Goes up six to #33 on the airplay chart.

Does that count as a #1 for all artists involved? if so cool i'll count this as the 60th #1 for King George cause even tho he only had 2 little bits in it i like it more than his "Give It All We Got Tonight" which i don't count as a #1 - it's one of his very very few songs i don't care for

Just in defence of Saving Country Music, he didn't give it a negative review or a positive one, he said he's neutral on it.

Just in defence of Saving Country Music, he didn't give it a negative review or a positive one, he said he's neutral on it. Right, I should have clarified it was more or less a commentator who said artists like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson and George Strait are endorsing the music from Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean. It's more because the comment section on Saving Country Music which is a trainwreck. I also want to ask this general question. If we don't consider Trigger a critic, than what is the critic for mainstream country music as most websites I see tend to just leave the same positive stuff where every song is unique and it's own little special angle (looking at you Taste of Country).

"Clinched turd", though.. I've never heard that. It cracked me up. Hahaha the word used was "cliched"... Although "clinched" certainly adds a whole new colorful meaning to the insult! Does that count as a #1 for all artists involved? I would say yes, but I imagine that this will become a hotly debated topic. God I hope so!! Getting Martina another official #1 after 14 years would pretty much be one of the only good things that has ever happened as a result of the Hot Country Songs chart (The other good thing ironically being that "Something In The Water" is officially a #1 single because of the mongrel chart ) Lol but you're right, that would be hotly debated... It would not count towards Whitburn points on Pulse, but would on the real Whitburn chart. And does every artist get 1/30th of the total points, or do they get rewarded based on how many lines they sing, or just everyone gets the full benefit of a #1? And then once we finally get everything figured out, what the heck would we do with Randy Travis' points??! Let's just hope it hits #1 on Billboard Airplay as well so onebuffalo has to figure out answers to all these questions ;) Does that count as a #1 for all artists involved? if so cool i'll count this as the 60th #1 for King George cause even tho he only had 2 little bits in it i like it more than his "Give It All We Got Tonight" which i don't count as a #1 - it's one of his very very few songs i don't care for Actually, I didn't like "Right Or Wrong", so I guess George still only has 59 #1s...

Alright Ten Pound Hammer , that's three songs in one night that you hate, all in one thread! Time to play f**k/marry/kill! Carrie Underwood - "Something In The Water Kacey Musgraves - "Keep It To Yourself" George Strait - "I Cross My Heart" ETA: Secretly, I'd kill "Keep It To Yourself", screw "Something In The Water", and marry "I Cross My Heart". It would be a perfect whirlwind romance ETA Again: Now that that's out of the way, I can safely say that I have loved "Forever Country" more every single time I have listened to it. This song is such a perfect tribute, imo :) I can't wait to see what they do with it at the actual CMA awards!

But I have definitely gotten over my tepid initial feelings and grown to enjoy it more through the years :) It's still not one of my favorites, but I don't skip it! I was mostly just making light of the logic that you used for not counting "Give It All We Got Tonight" as his 60th #1. Like, I know there are lots of people who will not count any of his non-Billboard #1s, because Billboard is sorta the be-all-end-all in the chart world or something. So it would make sense for them to disregard GIAWGT and several of his other #1s and say they were not actually #1s. But to just choose not to count GIAWGT because you don't like it is something new altogether! Of course you were probably joking, but I just thought it was funny logic :)
