I don't think you're alone in thinking this won't do much. It's a timed special radio release. I don't know where its peak will be but I know it won't last too long since this was put together for the 50th anniversary of the CMA Awards, Are you feeling O.K.? Yes...

I've heard this song a few times now on the radio, and while I find it great to have all these artists on one song from like a historical perspective. Having so many voices on one song kind of makes it really hard for me at least to thoroughly enjoy this.
A lot of the artists sound great on it particularly Kacey Musgraves,Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley, but in all honesty they are too many artists singing for me to really like this song (also aren't most of the lyrics just song titles).

I am not too familiar with those songs so I wasn't too sure. My bad (sorry this song isn't clicking for me)

It didn't crack the Mediabase top 50 but "Forever Country" picked up a ton of spins at Country radio on Friday. There were more stations that do not appear in the above picture but it looks like 3-5 spins yesterday was a popular total. Friday 09/16/16 Rank lw Rank TW Artist Title Label Year TW LW Move OVN AMD MID PMD EVE AUD --------- 63 ARTISTS OF THEN, NOW & FOREVER Forever Country CMA/MCA Nashville 2016 329 0 329 8 133 64 58 66 3.016 Will easily make the Billboard airplay chart on Monday (Sunday Night).

I really like this, even though mash ups with every artist singing a line normally sound forced, I think this one works better than most. And I agree, a couple of people sound great and the vast majority sounds good on this. I wonder what they are preparing for the live performance...

I don't usually like this kind of thing, but I really, really like this. I think they've done an excellent job of blending everything together.

It's crazy how three different songs blended together can still tell such a strong story. Who would ever think these songs and their themes would blend so well? ONTRA talks about the life of a musician - always on the road away from home, TMHCR talks about longing for home, and IWALY talks about leaving but always having love for someone in the past. It just works so, so well. It's unbelievable!

"Forever Country" has a big debut at #39 on the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week. Not sure if individual artists will end up getting credit for this or not, but it's cool to see so many veteran acts in the top 40 again.

How did this only get 11 adds when it had such a strong debut?

Really, really well done video, and it made me feel extra sentimental considering today's news about Dudley.
Immediately after, they just released a BTS video of the making of the whole production. Amazing.

After listening to this song countless times, my favourite part is at the very beginning with Brad & Keith, especially the way Keith sings Shenandoah. So glad to hear that Shane picked out Keith's standout line.
I'd imagine Dudley would have been beyond excited and proud about this whole Forever Country project.

I'm sorry that we didn't get on top of this soon enough for it not to derail the thread. Please carry on with the discussion of a lovely song with a beautiful video, both that, as Craig pointed out, feel especially poignant today.
Edit: preceding posts moved out of public view - no problem to those who responded to him.

Ok so I did watch the music video (before the whole scuffle happened in the thread) and I have a deeper appreciation for this song and seeing this song especially with the news today.
I have to say my favorite parts is Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Eric Church and Kacey Musgraves when they sing nearly together. I also find Brett Eldredge to be really great (I would love for him to use his voice for material with this type of production, but I am still impressed with him as a vocalist). Also despite me not being the biggest fan of hers Martina McBride, I thought did a great job with her role. Just watching the video made me have a lot higher appreciation (also reminds me how great of a vocalist Trisha Yearwood is).
Also loved how they showed Reba in an Opry like section of the song.
I have a greater appreciation for the song now watching the video..

I finally could listen to the song and watched the video today.I really liked how the mash up worked out and it was such a nice work of putting them together on it. I wish I could have listened to Lady A more(please come back soon ). Brett,Brad,Dierks,Keith and Kacey were also some of my favorite parts on the song. ;)

"Take Me Home, Country Roads" is the only John Denver song I can stomach.
Almost everyone sounds great on here. This is some of the best singing I've heard from Blake, Brad, Jason, and RF in particular. This whole thing fits together extremely well as a whole, and I don't think there's a part of it I don't like.

What a great video. For the record I am in love with this song and have been listening to it several times per day since it came out. I can't think of any other genre that would do something like this. Going back to my post in the thread about Dudley's passing, this video is another example that shows what a tight-knit community country music is. It is very fitting the news about Dudley and the music video broke/came out on the same day. It's like it was meant to be. Merle would have been a great addition to the video too.
Also that last scene with everybody in the field put such a big smile on my face. It almost made me cry.
RIP Dudley and Hag

Wow, I actually got chills watching that video. It's amazing that they got this many talented artists together on the song and in the video. Every single person sounds great, a lot of them even better than usual. I really hope that this is performed on the CMA's, what an epic moment that would be!

As far as the video for this song goes, I like it!! I love that they were able to get so many superstars in this song, and the fact that they were all in the video is even better! My only complaint is that it does feel a little too green-screen-y for me. But then again, what are they going to do, take 30 country stars around the world and film them on location together? #expensive
ETA: Actually more like 40-50ish... I forgot to consider that many of these acts are groups!

The music video for this is as big of an event as the song itself. Just stunning. That was an absolutely wonderful production in all aspects. It feels like a country music fan's dream to have such a collaboration like this exist and to see it put to video where we can witness all these great artists together is wonderful. I also really enjoyed the special effects -- it was very nicely done, indeed. And ending with Dolly Parton continued to be an absolutely excellent choice as it was when I first heard the song. Beautiful. I love this.

Yessss about the KU part Okay, so this is my first comment about the song and the video as a whole. Not going to lie, I figured it would be pretty corny. I heard it the for the first time on the radio the other day and it was really fun picking out who was signing what line, etc. Then the video came out and by the end, I was honestly in tears. It's just really, really special. Makes me so happy and proud to be a country music fan. I think this was truly an awesome thing to do and I really hope that they find a way to include this in this years award show. Job well done, absolutely LOVE it!!!
