Lord, a song drops to #2 on iTunes and suddenly it's over.
Are we forgetting Starboy also didn't stay at #1 very long?

Predictions: Rank | Song | Sales | Airplay | Streams | Points | 1 | Closer | 120 | 145 | 36.0 | 57,800 | 2 | Starboy | 90 | 90 | 28.0 | 42,300 | 3 | Heathens | 70 | 120 | 19.0 | 35,600 | 4 | Cold Water | 30 | 115 | 15.5 | 27,800 | 5 | Let Me Love You | 40 | 95 | 14.5 | 26,000 | 6 | Broccoli | 45 | 40 | 18.5 | 24,400 | 7 | Treat You Better | 20 | 120 | 10.5 | 23,000 | 8 | Cheap Thrills | 25 | 120 | 8.5 | 21,900 | 9/10 | Don't Let Me Down | 20 | 60 | 12.5 | 18,600 | 9/10 | I Hate U, I Love U
| 50 | 45 | 10.0 | 18,400 | 11-13 | This Is What You Came For | 10 | 85 | 9.5 | 17,500 | 11-13 | Gold | 40 | 65 | 7.5 | 17,200 | 11-13 | Side To Side | 30 | 30 | 13.0 | 17,200 |
Notes: - The first 8 all seem to be set in place barring some random increase in "Broccoli's" streaming.
- "Don't Let Me Down" is now falling on streaming and might be seeing its last week in the top 10. It'll be competing with "I Hate U, I Love U" for the 9th spot, which drops a bit in streaming since its A Cappella version video received a significant amount of views more last week partially aiding its 18-13 jump then.
- It'll be close competition between positions 11 through 13. "Side To Side" may have a larger streaming figure than I'm accounting for so it definitely has an opportunity to jump 19-11.

Happy to see DLMD get another week in Top-10 (though it could be considered lucky as the cut-off for making Top-10 has almost always been over 20k throughout the year).
I expect the Top-3 to be stagnant for a few weeks at least.... Closer still has a large lead over Starboy and Heathens is holding up well.
It would be interesting to see which song lands at #4 next week.... CW and LMLY will be pretty close (though I give latter the edge) while Bruno is also looking to debut with 25k+ points.

well with Starboy and 24k not looking like they're gonna catch up with Closer by Thursday so I think 9 weeks is pretty guaranteed Wondering when that video will be released.. has there been any information put out other than it being shot? Are we still expecting a music video for Closer? Isn't the lyric video already a music video for the song? I don't see why they'd release another one.

What is the differences between top streaming song and top demand song? Streaming incorporates all forms of streaming. On Demand is strictly sources where you can search an audio file and listen to it whenever you want (such as Spotify). The main difference between the two is one includes YouTube while the other doesn't. Which one includes YouTube? On Demand?

I believe I also saw them on Twitter asking about what they could do for a All We Know video

looks like Heathens will be #2 on radio by next week. Will Closer end up blocking Heathens on all three metrics? :/ IIRC that was what happened with UF and TOL
EDIT: nvm, forgot TOL got #1 on Digital Songs that one week (barely)

Seriously, what is going on with I Met a Girl??? its dead on country radio That's what I suspected, but why so soon? It's been on the chart for only six weeks. Recent country hits like Peter Pan and Different For Girls started losing radio after 15 or so weeks.

To be honest,Bonnie Raitt still gets a lot of AC recurrent airplay with that song and "Nick of Time", but yeah, for some bizarre reason the rest of that top 10 only gets played on Siriusxm 90's on 9, and not terrestrial. I'm not sure why Karyn White doesn't get played even on that retro lunchtime request hours... that song was played all the time back when it was a hit!

Top 40 is cyclical and whenever a new decade starts, the format goes through a chrysalis change to shed the previous decade's image. Thus the playlists of the early 60s, 70s 80s, 90s and 00s are usually forgettable AC stuff or tired decade-hangover fare. Because these songs don't define the decade before (and the new decade-identity rarely establishes itself before three years in), these early decade songs are usually not big recurrent fodder. (There are always exceptions of course (Nirvana, Ice Ice Baby, Joan Jett, etc) but generally the industry is aware of the above fact.)
