Oh my god wow, Closer looks like it may very well be dying out. I have a feeling it'll peak by the end of the week (haha, rhyme not intended). I'm just hoping the songs behind it haven't peaked too soon as well.
That aside...
#2: So this finally passed Shut Up and Dance's peak. Not too shabby.
#7: As I said, I'm just hoping this doesn't gain TOO quickly, I don't want it to peak quickly like CSTF did.
#10: Good news to see this one peak.
#22: Good riddance.
#33: Gosh darn it.
#35: This one could go any number of ways.
#40: You may be slipping, but at least you've got that Year-End list set.
#59: Seems that poor Maren Morris just can't have any real success, can she?
#63: It'd be great if this one has peaked already.
#70: I'm sorry, I just can't stop bringing this one up. It gets weirder every week.

GUYS "CLOSER" IS STARTING TO PEAK YESSSS not really tho Actually it is, though. It's already slipping in sales and streaming. Airplay is stagnant with signs that it's about to start dropping. The question, though, is how slowly will its airplay drop? Also, how slowly will its streaming drop? Starboy looks like it is about to consistently stay above Closer is sales, which is good news for it. But until it can close the gap in airplay and streaming (YouTube is what's keeping Closer far above Starboy streaming wise), it can't get #1. Hopefully it can hold on long enough to do it. I think it will.

I don't know about that.
According to Kworb, Closer's overall AI is the biggest it's ever been. It's rise on HAC will offset its drops on pop. It'll take about 2 or 3 weeks for Starboy to get to #1.
Also, I don't think Starboy's lead on iTunes in large enough to get to #1 yet.
And on streaming Closer is quite far ahead.

Peaking is still peaking whether or not there's a small spike. And it's really not that far ahead on radio. Only a 35 million difference, which would be smaller on Nielsen. Starboy is also gaining on Closer fairly quickly, which will only increase in speed as Closer starts its airplay descent. Also, to clarify, I'm not talking about this week. That's absurd. I mean in the near future: i.e. 2-4 weeks.

You know, I don't know if the EP that Closer is on will have the "complete my album" along with Closer, but if that does end up being the case, that'll take quite a few downloads out of the potential extra sales Closer could get from the EP, just like all the people that bought Hello before 25 dropped. velaxti: I'm sorry but that song is SO BORING! I'm just sick of all the stupid brag rap we've been getting (except for 24K Magic, if that even counts). Seriously, fucking Lost Boy kept me more engaged than that. (I actually didn't mind Lost Boy, in all reality.)

Next week's chart is the last one for the Billboard year, right?
Re: "Closer", it'll be interesting to see if it'll also have the same gradual descent as its 2 predecessors.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/7564547/digital-song-sales-chart-lowest-no-1-totalDigital Song Sales Chart Shows Lowest No. 1 Total in 10 Years11/1/2016 by Gary Trust As streaming surges, digital sales slide, with the latest week's top-selling song showing the lowest sum since 2006. The Chainsmokers' "Closer," featuring Halsey, crowns Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart (dated Nov. 12), but, with 84,000 downloads sold in the week ending Oct. 27, according to Nielsen Music, the total is the lowest for a No. 1 song on the tally in 10 years. Granted, "Closer" is in its 12th week atop Digital Song Sales (and 11th week atop the Billboard Hot 100), sold as many as 208,000 slightly more than a month ago (as reflected on the Sept. 24-dated chart) and has sold 1.7 million to date, but its latest frame is significant in the overall context of declining digital song sales. The last song to sell fewer downloads in a week than "Closer"? Hinder's "Lips of an Angel," which led the chart dated Oct. 28, 2006, with 75,000. Meanwhile, until the current week, no No. 1-selling song had moved fewer than 90,000 since Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" topped the Dec. 30, 2006-dated chart with 88,000. The latest Digital Song Sales chart marks the fourth of 2016 to sport a No. 1 song with fewer than 100,000 in weekly sales. (It's the second a row, as "Closer" led the Nov. 5 list with 97,000.) In 2015, just one chart was topped by a song selling fewer than 100,000; on the Sept 12 tally, R. City's "Locked Away," featuring Adam Levine, ruled with 92,000. Until that week, such a frame had not been logged since Jan. 27, 2007, when "Irreplaceable" dominated with 98,000. The Digital Song Sales chart's data began counting toward the Billboard Hot 100 on Feb. 12, 2005, when Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" led with 31,000. No songs would reach 100,000 sold in a week until the top 11 on the Jan. 14, 2006, chart all broke the barrier (thanks to heightened holiday shopping), paced by D4L's "Laffy Taffy," with 175,000. By February 2006, however, songs would begin regularly leading the list with six-digit figures. The new 10-year low for a Digital Song Sales No. 1 reflects the downward trend of the paid download, as digital song sales have fallen by 25 percent in 2016, according to Nielsen. That follows a 13 percent decline in 2015 (even as Adele's "Hello" scored a record debut week of 1.1 million in November 2015, becoming the first song to pass 1 million downloads sold in a week). The apparent fade of digital song sales is, not surprisingly, inverse to the rise of streaming, as U.S. audio and video streaming showed a 93 percent surge from 2014 to 2015 (per Nielsen's year-end 2015 recap). Of those tallies, audio streaming was up by 83 percent year-over-year, while video streams soared by 102 percent.

If we are talking about Hot 100... it peaked, in points, like 2 months ago. Still ahead of the competiton that's what I meant & that's all that matters if it's #1 by 10,000 points or 1,000 points.

The closest week coming up is Closer's theoretical 15th week. That'll be the week the Amas and Bruno's album come until play. If Closer isn't dethroned that week, the record is probably gone.
