^ And yet Want To Want Me is still here. The fact that Hello and Sorry left so long ago yet this one from early 2015 hasn't? I swear, seriously, it gets weirder every week.
(Please note that this is not a diss towards the song, I just find its presence absolutely perplexing.)

I heard "Candle in the Wind" on the replay countdown today. It's amazing how well its sales held up; who was still buying the song months after Diana's death? More so, why then? I just don't remember. I think the fact that Something About the Way You Look Tonight was a huge success on airplay also helped

I don't see why people think "24K" is going to battle for #1 when its streaming is so relatively poor. I did say a couple weeks ago that I thought 24k Magic would be #1, but now I feel foolish for saying that because even I realize that it's not gonna happen unless it gets a really big boost.

just because it's not being played on pop radio doesn't mean it's not having an impact lol. Also the MC videos with BB in playing aren't counting towards its streaming right? Only the official music video?

I actually haven't seen the MC much either. The main place I see it is on Twitter and do those streams even count? The Harlem Shake was on YouTube so it benefited from those streams a lot. I hope once the MC challenge dies down in two/three weeks (unless a new Christmas edition comes along to keep it alive for the holidays), the song does too.
Also, I remember Cool Kids was also deleted from iTunes (which usually floated around #9 - #15) and that returned to its usual position after a day or two

I don't see why people think "24K" is going to battle for #1 when its streaming is so relatively poor. As already said...there's still the album release next week, which is expected to sell quite well, and the streaming is sure to gain a boost from that. But yeah, if that doesn't get it to #1, nothing will.

Only the official music video? This. Urban audiences are all over the MC, which probably means young audiences generally, because it's "in." I see one of my students/students at my school doing it every single day. That huge impact alone, on a national scale, is what's propelling BB. Plus, twitter is dead. Instagram/SnapChat is where it's at.

"Black Beatles" just does not feel like a song pushing its way to #1 at all, the raw data notwithstanding. Literally the only places I see mention of it and/or this so-called "mannequin challenge" anywhere are here in these Hot 100 threads - if those truly had the broad impact that they're apparently supposed to have, I'd have to think that some, any kind of mention would eventually turn up somewhere on social media that I could see. That simply hasn't happened. Not sure what you look at/watch, but I've seen it all over. From social media to ESPN covering teams doing it to of course Clinton doing it the week of the election, it has been all over in my experience. That's why we shouldn't use a singular experience to represent a very broad one.

The original version of "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen is currently at #6 on iTunes. Apparently, his version never made it on the Hot 100, so could it possibly make its debut on the chart next week?

The SNL cold open last night is giving it another boost, for sure, but how much would it need to sell to make the Hot 100? I assume airplay will be non-existent. He may get some streams, too. I didn't pay attention to the totals before his death and now SNL, so I don't know how the track is doing on YT (it has a couple of official videos though).

Hallelujah had 292k streams in the US for the 11/26 tracking week, 934k if the live version being content ID'd as well counts. On November 11th alone, it's accrued 361k/1.242m already, so it may end up pacing enough to re-enter after all for the 12/3 chart.

I hope Leonard does score his first top 40/Hot 100 hit after all these decades. It would be kinda like NWA landing their first chart hit last year after "Straight Outta Compton" came out.
It's a shame though that Jeff Buckley never appeared on the big chart.

Based on how Billboard has handled other older songs that haven't previously charted (such as those that sold well after the deaths of David Bowie and Prince), it'll need enough points to rank in the top 50 to be allowed on the chart.

I agree. They have that same standard when Prince and David Bowie died. BTW, it's already up to #4 in iTunes.

Random Question: Is there any information on Dev's "#1"? I've heard that like 3 times tonight (It's good I'd check it out if I were y'all) What is the current Hot 100 formula? I think it's 40% streams, 40% sales& 30% airplay

What is the current Hot 100 formula? We don't have the official formula, but we have something that should be pretty close. We used to use this: Sales/9 Airplay/10,000 Streams/1,200 but we've updated that to this: Sales/9.5 Airplay/10,500 Streams/1,200

What is the current Hot 100 formula? The last time georgetherunner314 did a breakdown of the formula it was 44% streams, 24% sales, and 32% radio.

Since this discussion came up again, I will say that I'm postulating upon altering my preferred formula again to Sales/10 + Airplay/10,500 + Streams/1,200 since it seems to have worked a tad better when applying it to last week's hot 100.
That being said, the current weight of each metric was pretty surprising this last week! I found averages for the whole top 50 and the results were:
Sales 15.6%, Radio 31.8%, and Streams 52.6%
I figure the fact that the top selling song only had 72k sales played a part in that.
