Closer just never goes away. I think it might get to the 52 weeks and go recurrent. Unless it is prevalent enough and can beat the rule like Uptown Funk! did.

Is the sales number of 'Let Me Love You' wrong? The number includes the sales from the R. Kelly remix as well as the Sean Paul one. Does "Last Christmas" have a shot at climbing/spending a second week on the chart? George's death should help it out, but after Christmas people are sick of christmas songs, so I predict that it will remain more stable than the other Christmas songs. Last Christmas is definitely moving up this week. Its sales and streams are up enough to have it score more points than all three components last week.

Will the top 10 be revealed on Tuesday again because New Years is observed tomorrow? Same as last week, everything is a day late. Top 10 story Tuesday, Chart on Wednesday.

Really hoping Black Beatles blocks B&B (idc if that means 15 weeks at #1). Enough repetitive songs topping the charts. B&B came out of nowhere too like wtf?

Closer just never goes away. I think it's gonna challenge How Do I Live for the all time record. With only maybe 3 or 4 songs coming to the top 5 for any time soon

Can someone please explain how Juju is so high on the Hot 100? I don't see it anywhere in the Spotify Top 50 USA chart, and it's obviously not getting a lot of airplay.

Don't be surprised. Don't act brand new. This is Pulse. Pulse hates music of any genre that isn't pop. They'll stan generic pop tracks til the day they die, but act like a generic bro-country, hip hop, or alternative track is the worst thing since Donald J. Trump's birth.

eventually the other music genres will catch up to streaming (the driving force of the charts) and there will be more diversity on the charts or at least less stagnation

Why is "24K Magic" suddenly selling so well again? It's too bad its sales and airplay never quite aligned (or more so that airplay topped out so quick). Yeah I wish 24K Magic had the luck of Don't Wanna Know in airplay, it could have chances of better peak than #4 if they only aligned to make up for weak streaming.

YouTube There's a TZ Anthem (also known as Juju) Dance Challenge that's generating videos on YouTube. As long as there is at least 30 seconds of the song, it's being counted toward streaming for the song reported by YouTube to Billboard when it's the video is viewed.

The category the video is filed under on YouTube must be music and not entertainment (although I think there can be exceptions to that rule - was the Shake It Off video with the cop dancing under music?)

Yeah, I agree. Regarding the SIO video, don't you mean the cop video lip synching to the song? That video went viral that week and resulted in SIO moving 8-1 in Streaming Songs with 132% increase, with more than 2/3 of the streams from that YouTube video, and rebounding 9-5 in the Hot 100. I just searched the video and it has in Category "People & Blogs". In the end, it depends on how YouTube reports the data to Billboard.

I'm pretty sure they stopped basing it on category a long time ago; it's based on Content ID at this point since that means the label gets revenue. As such, Carpool Karaoke doesn't work for two reasons: the tracks are licensed, meaning they don't get claimed, and two, even if they weren't, Content ID might not get a match because the singing over the track dilutes the audio fingerprints it counts on.

But remember, Cheap Thrills is a historic and game-changing song as it came in the form of a white woman past a certain age, automatically giving it importance and making it "progressive". Sometimes I think ~85% of this board has the exact same stock portfolio heavily centered around and dependent on the hair bleaching and vaginal rejuvenation businesses.

And all of this (extraness) stemmed from people stating their opinions on Bad and Boujee.

Bad and Boujee sounds pretty basic to me but it's not the first or last hit song that sounds basic

I'd rather listen to Cheap Thrills on an endless loop that hear that Boujee crap more than once, thanks. And yeah, give me generic pop over generic rap anyday. At least the former has a melody and doesnt mumble its way throughout the song. Urban deserves much better representation at the top of the charts.
