Everyone has their own tastes. Music is incredibly subjective. The real issue here is that people expect the Hot 100, or any chart for that matter, to be a complete reflection of their own music tastes. But it's never going to be because you're not the one personally creating the chart. At least songs like Black Beatles, Juju, Broccoli actually have personality. Which I'll take over nothingness like Don't Wanna Know any day. I fail to see how "Juju On That Beat" has any personality, unless excessive repetitiveness is a form of personality... Nah, I don't mind Closer. It's an okay song in my opinion. It's just that I don't think it's that fantastically fantastic to be even close to breaking these all-time records. When I think of songs like Uptown Funk and Smooth and Foolish Games and other record-breaking Hot 100 songs I think "oh woahhh, these incredible masterpieces!". When I think of Closer it's like "well yeah this is good, I'll listen but nothing special". personally I think "Closer" is easily the best song to be #1 in 2016 (though that in itself isn't saying much) and, along with "Starboy", saved 2016 from its utter blandness. I think the last minute of "Closer" is what really makes it stand out for me (I love the song, but I can understand the hate towards it, especially with how much it's been played everywhere). This is just my personal opinion. Agree about the song but I understand the hate, it's typical for a long running one plus The Chainsmokers became douchebags after the success of the song so that added more animosity towards the song. Juju's dance is quite fun especially if you are young, the song itself ehh but with the dance added I understand now why it became a success just like Watch Me and from a decade ago (!!!!) Crank That
