NOW is the time to get her a team that will use social media and streaming services including YOUTUBE the right way to promote her catalog of music and videos.
No more fucking excuses

Wow, this part was A LOT. Overwhelming. She is going to put out an album, tour again and then retire. My assumption. where’s the song though? Her term could have given us a date with all the buzz or better yet, put it out digitally right when it ended. I need that tour, I f**king NEED IT. But Janet fans are speculating that the Big Bang she was referring to is the doc and she’s now just retired.I actually thought she meant if she were to pass away, she would want to be highly celebrated for her legacy.

He had/has his issues, but Rene was a great artist. RN1814, janet. and TVR were her boldest and most iconic visual eras, he definitely played a part in that. He also got her hooked on wearing Comme Des Garcons in her downtime so he does get points for that. I do wonder why she didn't address the domestic abuse allegations though, maybe it was just a song. I mean, I could see Janet handling Rene's scrawny behind. Yeah, I also wondered who was the true culprit. It was probably someone she had dated before Rene, but after James.

Doesn’t make up for what he put Janet thru but I agreed, he definitely contributed to the creative & to her success overall. It’s a shame he had those drug issues.

I think Christina Milian would be a good choice, but I feel like Crystal Kay would be perfect playing Janet since she has the high cheekbones like Janet! Halle Berry is too old to play Janet. I can't see the other three playing Janet, ESPECIALLY Taraji. Others have mentioned Ciara and Halle Bailey. Ciara...love her but no. Halle Bailey would be really good.

Keep in mind that Janet and Justin share the same publicist.
Just sayin’.

Australia iTunes Albums: 88. Janet. Canada iTunes Albums: 36. Unbreakable 37. Design of a Decade 1986/1996 41. Best of Number Ones 57. Janet. 59. Control Croatia Apple Music Albums: 185. Discipline Lebanon Apple Music Albums: 37. Rhythm Nation 1814 38. Unbreakable If she was retiring after this then why include footage of her Fallon segment talking about Black Diamond? Because the album and tour are that final bang.

Different territories are getting different edits. I think Australia got a lot of extended scenes and footage. He had/has his issues, but Rene was a great artist. He also got her hooked on wearing Comme Des Garcons in her downtime so he does get points for that. I do wonder why she didn't address the domestic abuse allegations though, maybe it was just a song. I mean, I could see Janet handling Rene's scrawny behind. What About and This Time were about James... He had/has his issues, but Rene was a great artist. Rene is the person she dated after James. Janet and Rene were friends at the time she was married. Rene used to dance for Latoya, then danced for Janet during the Control era.

At the moment, I will give this documentary a B+.
She is a private person and some of the more intimate, vulnerable moments are things I was pleasantly surprised to see.
I believe this was intended to humanize her, especially her family and show her resilience. There's been so many traumatic challenges in her personal life (her relationships, MJ) and professional career (family name, Superbowl), many of which she cannot discuss legally and she pulls through. She wants to take the high road and enjoy life.
Looks like some things will just have to be revisited from that era's respective interviews or The True You.
They can get points off for the following reasons... -3 for the commercials (ship it back) -3 for not being a series (that's the only way to give more details) -3 mistakes with dates (one example was Wayne Scot's time with Janet went from 1993-2004 then 1993-2006 then back to 1993-2004)
----
* there was an omission of more Superbowl talk and Les Moonves, QuestLove just confirmed on Twitter*
I have zero interest in further exploring or discussing the Superbowl. Just feels like trauma porn at this point.
Experiencing everything in 2004 was a lot as a fan, but I can't put myself in Janet's shoes and imagine what that was like and how she came to a better place emotionally and mentally. I personally don't see how we benefit from wanting more about what happened. This "was it planned or an accident?" conversation can go disappear in the Bermuda triangle!
That night hurt her. The aftermath clearly hurt her. It's difficult for her to speak about. She is still healing. The Malfunction documentary took care of many things in regards to the halftime show and I accept it.
I get that we as fans wish things happened differently, especially for her career. Some folks still want to drag Justin. But even if she went all the way in, it still wouldn't right the many wrongs that were done to her. She is owed so many apologies and until that happens, we're beating a dead horse.
It also feels like legally, there may be things she cannot discuss. Anything is possible and it's out of our control. It's a vicious monster and we'll never know the full impact.
If Janet doesn't want to relive it, I 100% respect that and just want to move on. It's tiring. I'd rather celebrate her legacy and talent.

Are Janet and Wisam legally divorced? Yes, I believe so. The divorce became finalized in 2017. Since then, she has remained living in London (to co-parent) and has not spoken about him in interviews directly. Does anyone remember that she had to remove Eissa's voice during an interlude in the residency? Also, Janet Brasil and a few fan sites have been threatened with lawsuits for having pictures of Eissa as well.

That's why I'm wondering if it's part of the divorce & custody settlement - she cannot say disparaging things about Wissam and not show Eissa publicly. I didn't remember about Eissa appearing in a tour interlude and then being taken out but I did notice the changes to the "What About" staging mentioned on the previous page. She needs to take a dip in the lady pond and find a good black woman to love her á la "Tonight's The Night" minus the man

I never noticed the "What About" staging until now. But I went to Metamorphosis opening night and you could hear his voice on the final interlude before she performs "Doesn't Really Matter" and "Made For Now". In the July and August shows, it was removed.

So did the book they mentioned actually materialize? I don't remember, and would totally read it.

I really enjoyed the documentary. It was well made. I would have liked more about her music and artistic aspects and less about all the obstacles that she had to overcome but I understand that this type of documentary was needed, especially coming directly from her. In the end, we got a lot of behind the scenes/never before seen parts. My favorites were the altercation with Jimmy during Rhythm Nation recording and her with Michael working on Scream.

I was very underwhelmed. I actually caught myself getting bored a lot (and I’m a documentary buff). There was almost no new information, certainly no tea, and not enough of the creative process.
I also hate the fact that we still didn’t get a thorough explanation about the SB incident.
Oh and too much Jackson 5/Michael.

I did think it was quite odd how they skirted over the specifics of the SB incident. They didn't really talk anything about the rehearsals, the outfit, what she had meant to do, etc. The NYT doc was a lot more illuminating in that aspect.

It was an accident, what else is there to know? She cried after it happened, the camera didn’t cut away soon enough, and only the fabric underneath was supposed to remain, not the entire thing ripped off. If you want to know what originally planned, Google Tina Turner skirt pull off. Anyways, can we please get LUV I LUV and that tour announcement!

C-. I actually agree with these two points in bold. I thought it was a little too heavy on MJ/J5, and listen I understand being a Jackson is a part of her legacy duh, but still... We could've gotten more coverage on Janet herself instead. And I'd loved a more thorough explanation on the SB debacle, too. This was her one chance to shoot down all the misconceptions/questions on it; this was HER documentary, HER take on everything, HER truth. What better vehicle to clear s**t up once and for all?
