I was going to watch this but the overall consensus appears that it's nothing but a snooze fest.

I was going to watch this but the overall consensus appears that it's nothing but a snooze fest. I wouldn't say that, but I just think it left a lot out. I think it really should've been a longer series. They tried to cram too much in the 4 episodes while seemingly spending too much time on things that weren't as relevant.

I was very underwhelmed. I actually caught myself getting bored a lot (and I’m a documentary buff). There was almost no new information, certainly no tea, and not enough of the creative process. I also hate the fact that we still didn’t get a thorough explanation about the SB incident.
Oh and too much Jackson 5/Michael.
C-. I actually agree with these two points in bold. I thought it was a little too heavy on MJ/J5, and listen I understand being a Jackson is a part of her legacy duh, but still... We could've gotten more coverage on Janet herself instead. And I'd loved a more thorough explanation on the SB debacle, too. This was her one chance to shoot down all the misconceptions/questions on it; this was HER documentary, HER take on everything, HER truth. What better vehicle to clear s**t up once and for all? In fairness, I think she and Justin are legally bound NOT to publicly divulge details, particularly if they would contradict official records. There is a lot of testimony under oath as part of the FCC hearings that presents the “official” version of events.

I also hate the fact that we still didn’t get a thorough explanation about the SB incident. Oh and too much Jackson 5/Michael. C-. The most "tea" she ever spilled was on her exes. No one one knew that James completely ditched her on their wedding day to do drugs, no one knew that Renè was a druggie, and no one knew Jermaine had cheated on her. Plus, I didn't even know that she was so close to getting a Coca Cola deal, but unfortunately, the MJ scandal ruined it...

You came out of retirement just to offer this illuminating commentary? Yeah, what about it? I don't care that there was no there there, it's just that it was sold as her opening up and that still didn't happen. I still stan her day in and day out, so it doesn't matter to me. My opinion of her wouldn't have changed either way.

I don’t see anyone talking like that, but I don’t use Facebook lol.
For Janet and Michael fans alike, thinking Janet wasn’t gonna talk about Michael a lot is short sighted at best.
He’s her brother He had an untimely death that affected her deeply She was is and always will be his biggest defender And he was her biggest inspiration and competition at the same time.
Did you all not live through the 90s? I’m confused.

I thought the first night of the doc was EXCELLENT. The second night was a bit rushed and I felt a lot was missing. I would've liked more insight on the recording process of Janet, Velvet Rope, All For You, Damita Jo, 20 YO and Discipline. They did a great job of covering Control and Rhythm Nation. I wanted to hear some more Renee wanting a large settlement and her fall out with Tina Landon. They were best friends at one point and I think it would've been great to get some clarity on that relationship. Also, I want to know her perspective on why she allowed men to have such a heavy hand in her career after proclaiming she's in Control. What made her feel comfortable with letting JD exec produce 2 albums after her experience with Renee? AND nobody knew she was married to Renee until they got divorced. I wanted to hear her reason for the secrecy and why did she wait so long to have a kid? Was she afraid having a kid in the 90's or early 200's would kill her career and image as a sexy symbol? Did he feel Renee wasn't ready for fatherhood? I wish we heard something about her recent marriage. She may have some legal restrictions regarding that situation, but to completely omit it feels very disingenuous. I would've rather heard her say she can't talk about him than to just act like he didnt exist. I also want to know why is she so covered up now? Did she convert religious beliefs? Does she feel she is too old to still be a sex symbol? I've got questions!

Does she feel she is too old to still be a sex symbol? I've got questions! She She had stated in old interviews that she didn't want the media and the press to have a negative effect on her marriage to Rene because she had seen how the media can be so cruel to her brother concerning with his personal life. She never wanted that for herself so that's why she had chosen to keep it a secret. In the documentary, she had mentioned that Rene was addicted to pain killers and he was always criticizing her looks, maybe that's why she never felt secured enough to have kids with him. And she had already mentioned in the doc that she DID wanted kids with Jermaine, but he hardly ever had time for her and he was cheating on her.

Ratings are in for Friday's shows. The 9 p.m. premiere was tops for cable shows on Friday, with 8 p.m. finishing third. showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-friday-1-28-2022-top-150-cable-originals-network-finals.html1. 9 p.m., Lifetime- 0.46 18-49 demo, 2.114 million overall viewers 3. 8 p.m., Lifetime- 0.38 18-49 demo, 1.903 million overall viewers 8. 9 p.m., A&E- 0.25 18-49 demo, 1.057 million overall viewers 12. 8 p.m., A&E- 0.22 18-40 demo, 925,000 overall viewers Thus, part 1's premiere, had, in total, had a 0.6 in the 18-49 demo and 2.828 million overall viewers (adding both channels), while the premiere of part 2 had a 0.71 in the 18-49 demo and 3.171 million overall viewers. So, I hate to drudge this up but it’s been brought up now these past few pages so might as well get it out now. I just rewatched the Super Bowl performance (I’ve seen it a million times) and I am just now noticing that at the beginning of All For You, a shirtless male dancer behind Janet grabs her right breast and again during the segue between Rhythm Nation and The Knowledge, right before she does the drag walk down the stairs, the female dancer to her right grabs Janet’s right breast and Janet slaps it off. I figure this might be intentional foreshadowing in the choreography but can’t beleive I’m just now noticing this now after almost 20 years. Kishi KCM had you seen this?

Does anyone have any idea why Discipline is not released on Tidal? At least in Europe. All her output but Discipline is there.

So it looks for UK night #1, they got a version similar to Australia (no defending Michael, "Scream" and "Special" are not played at all due to some copyright stuff, the Halloween 2017 party where she was Catwoman was featured and one of Mariah's parts is missing) If any fans are available on the last Sunday of each month, some of the Janet fans from various message boards and social media will be doing a monthly Zoom where we discuss all things Janet (as well as network). Please message me if you're interested in participating! So, I hate to drudge this up but it’s been brought up now these past few pages so might as well get it out now. From the original telecast, yes. #iLuvIt #GoinIn Does anyone have any idea why Discipline is not released on Tidal? At least in Europe. All her output but Discipline is there. Potentially licensing issues. Discipline isn't available in Portugal and some other places on Spotify also. Janet and team have WORK to do since yesterday, hope they are on it!

I just bought the Target variant of "Number Ones" on red vinyl. Sucks that it has like half the track listing of the actual album, but excited nonetheless!

Saturday's ratings are in. The 9 p.m. premiere on Lifetime was No. 3 for cable shows on Friday, with 8 p.m. finishing fourth (and the A&E showings also ranking in the top 10). showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-saturday-1-29-2022-top-150-cable-originals-network-finals.html3. 9 p.m., Lifetime- 0.41 18-49 demo, 1.882 million overall viewers 4. 8 p.m., Lifetime- 0.40 18-49 demo, 1.796 million overall viewers 8. 9 p.m., A&E- 0.30 18-49 demo, 1.345 million overall viewers 9. 8 p.m., A&E- 0.24 18-40 demo, 1.222 million overall viewers Thus, part 3's premiere, had, in total, had a 0.64 in the 18-49 demo and 3.018 million overall viewers (adding both channels), while the premiere of part 4 had a 0.71 in the 18-49 demo and 3.227 million overall viewers. Not shabby in this day and age. Various reruns (of all parts) sprinkled the rest of the top 150, which can be seen at the link.
