I thought by now they would've already released the new song.

I can't believe they didn't at least drop 1 new song to capitalize off the hype from the doc. I'm sure she has plenty of songs in the can. They didnt need a video or anything, just something new. It could've gotten some great streaming numbers and a nice Hot 100 debut.

A few days back i read (and i haven't confirmed it) that the streaming numbers for Janet PALE in comparison with Mariah, Whitney and Madonna. We're talking about JANET!! She has as many classics as those other 80s/90s divas!

They are featured on at least double the amount of Janet. Her numbers on Spotify went up once they started putting her on popular 90's and R&B playlists, but there's still a lot of work to do.

It will never be enough. People wanting more information on Feb 2004? REALLY? Bye. Yes. REALLY. Bye. It's in the past and can't be changed. Completely traumatizing. Legally, there might be things they cannot discuss. Not sure if you watched the NY Times/Hulu documentary, but they go in to detail. Janet doesn't seem comfortable addressing a lot of things in depth and I don't blame her for wanting to move on. F**k Les Moonves, period. Even if she went further, a lot of folks would still accuse her of not telling the whole truth. These same people still think she's had this secret child and wanted her to address Bobby Brown. It's ridiculous.

I don't care if it was a one night stand or friends with benefits, I'm mad at BOB-BAY for putting Janet in his life story. He damn sure wasn't going to be in hers!

Some of y'all are asking for blood and she gave us her heart. Shame. Thank you. Almost 50 years of giving everything and nothing is ever enough. I’m glad she’s still ALIVE to tell any story she wants.

Janet Jackson a LIVING legend, around to open her life to US and folks still need to cry over the juicy deets that they feel entitled to. I am so thankful she is with us to tell us her truth.

This was a biographical documentary for fans, not an exposé for the blogs. Some people need to go listen to their fave's audio book one mo' gen and get their fix, meanwhile stay out of this celebration of a legendary career if they're only here for "tea".

Control, Design of a Decade and RN1814 have a chance of charting next week is sales keep up before this Thursday— buy them on iTunes if you haven’t already. I bought DOAD so I could have Twenty Foreplay back in my life again 🥰

Her videos on iTunes looks like they’re all in HD — I wanna know if “If” is the all dance version though

It's too bad the show didn't have a joint release with Hulu or something along with Lifetime/A&E to reach more people. I don't even have cable anymore so I had to use my parents Xfinity log in to watch on the A&E app lmao.

Does anyone have any idea why Discipline is not released on Tidal? At least in Europe. All her output but Discipline is there. Potentially licensing issues. Discipline isn't available in Portugal and some other places on Spotify also. Janet and team have WORK to do since yesterday, hope they are on it! Ugh. I figured it was something related to random licensing issues. Her team really needs to step up their game when it comes to streaming/youtube. It's a path in the right direction that they are uploading her older videos. But wth is Luv is Luv? Shouldn't it have been released by now? And so happy for the ratings but really wish this was on Netflix, HBO or Disney or something so everybody could watch it. I need to have all my friends to watch this damn thing. lol

Yeah times like this are when a label and a team are very important. They should've had the new single ready to go to launch and made sure all of the videos were on YouTube before the doc even started airing. At least they made sure they had iTunes and banner discounting

This wasn't just "for the fans" and so many of you are being ridiculous defending this. Was it fine? Sure. Was it enthralling? No. Why does criticism of this mean that someone must not like the artist? I don't want to be told to go elsewhere. I probably listen to more Janet than anyone here, and that will never change. The only thing that changes is my opinion of all of you who denounce anyone with a different opinion.

I enjoyed the docuseries immensely. I've been a Janet stan my entire life, so to see four hours of anything talking about her and her career... sign me up. But anytime the subject of the documentary is in the production credits, know what you're getting into. She was controlling the narrative and the conflict and confrontation that comes from a true documentary simply isn't going to be there. So yes, this doc did lack true illumination a lot of the time. But Janet is at a place in her life where she wants to find peace and let go of the past (she just sold practically every remnant of her past at auction for further proof). So I get what she was trying to accomplish with this and I enjoyed it, but I also get why some people feel it was lacking.

The only thing that changes is my opinion of all of you who denounce anyone with a different opinion. I agree that it's not for the fans only. It's also not mandatory for anyone to like everything she does. My issue isn't with someone not liking the documentary, but wanting her to go further into detail about things she cannot, for whatever reason. That incident was well documented in 2004 and there's a whole FX/Hulu documentary about it. All of the information is already out there.

They likely didn't simultaneously release it to streaming because A&E wouldn't permit it. If people knew they could just stream it on demand, many wouldn't have tuned in live which would have decreased viewership for A&E. It will likely hit streaming eventually. I wasn't able to catch it every night, so I'm waiting for it to be on streaming.

JANET WILL BE ON JIMMY FALLON TONIGHT!! That's true. They made it an event and the viewership numbers are great. But they would be foolish to keep it as an exclusive. I'm 100% positive that because of it's success, it will make it to a larger streaming platform, since each year cable/satellite subscriptions are falling. Plus, there's so much money in selling it to Netflix or Hulu!

Yeah, I feel like a smart thing to do in that scenario would've been to have A&E/Lifetime have the exclusive broadcast TV rights for last weekend but then maybe starting Monday they could've promoted that like this weekend or next weekend it would be available on Hulu, Hbo, etc., to keep momentum and then to also keep broadcast nets happy too.
